My wife's uncle had a 32 ft fibreglass ketch which he lived on every summer in Cogolin in the Med and who we visited a few times during which I learned a bit about sailing making a trip across to Corsica. Eventually he stopped going out but allowed us to go over and use the boat for a couple of weeks provided we did all the work getting her ready having been put back in the water after the winter. This involved re-treating all the woodwork and completely re-fitting the sails plus a good clean up. Finally once ready I took her out and sailed up the gulf eventually anchoring under sail in a local bay and amazingly ending up roughly where I intended. I haven't been sailing since and still can't quite believe I was able to do this and am very grateful to have had the opportunity. Maybe in the future I will have another chance...

Oh, and when you've done all that, maybe get a canal boat and work your way through the English or French canals? Whatever the future holds, we're excited for you.

My vague plan for after living aboard is a gypsy wagon and a Lanzbulldog tractor. Faster then a boat and more space then a camper. No special drivers license either. But a narrow boat would do nicely too. We, who are not restricted by bricks and mortar, have so much choice, it can be quite overwhelming sometimes. I totally understand the "we figure that out when it is time" attitude. Happy selling!
You make a very good point about not being constrained by bricks and mortar. Also, we are used to limited space, so size isn't so much of an issue either. The sky is our ceiling!
Congrats on the brave decision. It’s going to be tough parting with your home of 20 years. I can’t see you being happy on a canal boat for very long, (see Nutshell). Obviously this is about being nearer to family as we all age, so Im guessing a slightly larger oldish oyster for Jamie to potter away on moored in Southhampton. There are plenty of adventures from there and when after 5 years the cold makes your joints ache you can escape south for a time where renovations are much cheaper, just avoid Orca Alley and go wide. We’ll see how the dice rolls. If you are doing some sail instruction you could help me bring my Southerly down through the Channel next April. Im in Aus till then.

Change is a wonderful thing and I look forward to following along in the next chapter of your adventure. Someone is going to get an amazing deal on this boat. Not surprised. Honestly, the video had more questions than answers. I had to guess, I would say as the crew ages, the boat is getting a bit more difficult to handle. It is not an easy lifestyle, blue water cruising. Also, the boat is probably getting close to another refit. So time for a change. If I was them, I would buy a European canal/coastal cruiser like a Linssen and putter about Europe and the Med. Home is close, plenty to see, etc. I am probably way off but it is fun to speculate. Cheers guys, fair winds and thanks for what you do!
@@followtheboatThere are plenty of us that manage by doing the Schengen shuffle, and you get to see places in quite a lot of detail that you might otherwise not pick. Well Jamie and Liz you certainly gave Esper your best shot, twenty years is a long time and I fully appreciate the need to refresh. We’re coming up on ten years of full time liveaboard, and are also selling our boat (1979 Gulfstar Sailmaster 47’ ketch). And we also have no idea what we’re going to do next! We’ve been stationed along the Pacific coast of California and Mexico, but unlike you, we’re looking at becoming land lubbers - perhaps a small house, or RV the states? Like you, we’ll make those decisions when the boat sells! Best of luck to you both - we’ve enjoyed your videos immensely and have learned much from you ⛵️
Most people stay stationary through out their lives. I mean, they keep doing the same and same thing. You guys look to be doing a smart move. You have the experience, that comes with age, and the desire to still fly away in life and go for new adventures and explore new ways of living life. How excited! Looking forward to follow your new adventures. I wish you the best and good luck selling Esper.
What ever you do in the future, if you do as your next adventure, doesn’t matter if on land , on another boat, I think I speak for you viewers thank you. I hope you are well and where ever you decide to go I look forward to seeing you again! Thank you again.
Oh wow. I have fallen in love with the anchorages you have sailed in Asia and made me reconsider sailing there. It will be sad to see you not sailing around this region.
You're the best channel on youtube. My husband and i have watched your videos for about 13 years. We look forward to seeing your new adventures. Best of luck with whatever you decide. Thank you for all you do. 💕
Back near family - Narrowboat in Europe, motorboat thru USA waterways, oh and that other option ……the dreaded catamaran (Only if you start running charters and we can all book a holiday with u on the boat). Wishing you smooth sailing through the sale of yr boat. Maybe Holly Martin will upgrade the Geck while she is in the area.
Love your honesty....good luck!....somehow your channel grew on me so I will continue your restless and mature life. You are an inspiration to me...I am 72 and have 2 boats😂🎉
I was interested in sailboats, but when I saw Liz, Jamie, Milli and Esper @PSS; I knew I was going to get a sailboat, after 8 years looking I found Pegasus. Thank you for your videos, and fair winds, be well.
Excited for you. I don’t watch your channel for actual sailing, plenty of other channels doing that. I enjoy all your content and fantastic info about life on the water, relationships, challenges and blessings. I recently wondered if you would leave Indo, been there a long time and it’s far from your roots. I think your future abode will have fewer stairs.
Maybe you could crew on several different types of boats and locations until you make up your mind on what comes next. This could be the chance to try some things you’ve never experienced before. Looking forward to following your journey.
During the pandemic a sister ship sold for a little under $25000 in Tahiti... it had been sitting on the docks for a few years and covered but the sun really does take a toll on boats in the tropics. $60000 may be closer to reality considering the location and age... good luck. I have been enjoying watching for years.
I am interested in a "delta" video. What features of your current life can be improved? Faster boat? Colder climate? More European flavor? More traveling? Less traveling? What is your ++ in each aspect of life?
Several boating people I follow here on TH-cam have become farmers. Many are switching to catamarans. I glad you'll see be on the water. Maybe a trawler. Maybe doing an American Great Loop. Maybe a narrow boat exploring the canals of England. Or France. Looking forward to hearing of these plans.
Best of luck Liz and Jamie. I wish you well in whatever new venture you take up. I have had great times watching your escapades and what comes next. It’s measured, good honest content. Hope Esper sells well and soon for you, I can only dream of a craft so beautiful. Thank you both 👍
Gonna miss your episodes. There's a sadness for me coz you guys inspired me to try this lifestyle out. Wishing you both the best in your next adventure together. Health and happiness. ❤ Sam & Rene 😊
Exciting! Will follow you anywhere. I mean, maybe not to a catamaran. lol. But probably on a catamaran too... Can't wait to see what lovely people get to be the new stewards to your lovely Esper.
Congrats on your decision. It must have been hard. Not watching Liz & Jaime on Esper will be the end of an era😪 But ! Looking forward to your next boat AND Adventures👍👍👍👍👍
Hi, a little shocked, but I did anticipate it, last year you were seeking advise, I could tell you getting bit jaded, I suggested you put Esper on the hard for a year, preferably reoccupy the London property. Ie to give yourself a break. That's what I did anyway, have tried slow travel, couple of ship cruises, large and small. It's working, have the energy to get back to it now, but not sure yet should I prepare it to sell or sail on, it would surely be a tragedy to end up with a worse vessel if I upgraded. If you had taken the advise, you would be probably be sick of land life and ready to give Esper another go.
I don't remember your advice. We can't live in our London flat because it's what gives us our income. Twenty years of continuous travel, living on Esper: we're ready for a change, I assure you. Liz
Very excited for you both! No worries, we will follow you to the ends of the earth! Whatever that nautical mode of transportation ends up being. Cheers to you both!
Omgoodness, my dears, what a surprise! I've been following you for goodness knows how many years, back to the time of 'Captain Millie'! ☺️ Seding all love, and all best wishes for the futurw, Claire and the new 'Sofa Crew', Berlin 😘😘😘❤️
At this stage in your journey I would seriously consider a power yacht. I don’t see you two on a Cat. Whatever you decide I will eagerly watch and can’t wait for your decision. All the best!
i assume that one day you would sell but didn't think that it would be so soon; Maybe find a little piece of land in one of those great remote locations that you've been to, build a hut on the water with a pathway to the land, and you would be on the water still.
wow what a big surprise ! I am sure you will communicate more in the future about the reasons, except its purely personal. In my case, after sailiing for a few years and crossing an ocean, I see that it is getting quite lonely on a sailboat. The term "lonely bay" is becoming more of a nightmare than a dream destination, I really miss being among real people. Together with the fact the maintaining a sailboat is a huge task, I will sell my boat and move to a more stable shore based life again...I am wondering if you will be staying to live on the water......Good luck for both of you !
Neither can we! Change must be embraced. It's something I was uncertain of initially as I saw myself getting old on Esper, but this change is an important one.
Sad to see Esper go, but excited to see what you get in the future. I think a cat has a more suitable floorplan for those ageing knees and you can each have a hull for those 'F**k Off' days haha.
This is a great boat to buy. Loved by the owners and recently upgraded. Oyster is one of the 4 top of the range bluewater in the world and at 100 k it is a steal!

We don't know where we'll be yet so we're putting that coat purchase on hold! Yes, sailing back towards the Med area is not on the cards. We've had enough pirate-infested waters for a lifetime 😅

May you adapt to this new chapter with grace and Elon. You got this.( Jaime too). Much love from a faraway friend! Cheers Jeff
Esper is going to miss you both. I'd like to cross an ocean on a cutter rigged ketch at some point in my life, but now is too soon. Are you headed to a canal boat? Could be fun!
Such is my regard for you that if you were offering the Brooklyn Bridge I'd buy it! Sight unseen!! I am fairly confident you won't ever get a catamaran --- perhaps another ketch. I look forward to watching the transition. Best wishes. P.s.: Q.: Will the new owners get the tokay (sp.?)??
I just caught up with you again while rebuilding all the channels I lost. There you go selling Esper. Well I cannot see you as Nessie Hunters in Scotland so perhaps a larger boat to charter. I also cannot see you in a sailboat with electric motors. It is good to be back though.
You guys are sailors on the water, but when selling the boat are down to the earth on the selling price. It seems so reasonable to me. I think it will sell fast.

You have the experience, that comes with age, and the desire to still fly away in life and go for new adventures and explore new ways of living life. How excited! Looking forward to follow your new adventures. I wish you the best and good luck selling Esper.
Thank you for the great comment, Mike.
What ever you do in the future, if you do as your next adventure, doesn’t matter if on land , on another boat, I think I speak for you viewers thank you. I hope you are well and where ever you decide to go I look forward to seeing you again! Thank you again.
Thanks for the kind comment. We'll keep everyone posted 👍
Oh wow. I have fallen in love with the anchorages you have sailed in Asia and made me reconsider sailing there. It will be sad to see you not sailing around this region.
We're a little sad too but we're more excited about what will happen next! Thank you for your support, and stay tuned!
You're the best channel on youtube. My husband and i have watched your videos for about 13 years. We look forward to seeing your new adventures. Best of luck with whatever you decide. Thank you for all you do. 💕
Thanks for the lovely comment, and for your support. Hope you stay tuned in to future developments!
@@followtheboat we definitely will. 💕
Life is about change and that includes us viewers. I will continue to follow along.
Thanks, Dave. That's what we love to hear, and yes, change is important.
I love the idea of motoring through the US Waterways. I'm not sure how long we can stay in the US at a time though. Six months, maybe?
It’ll be sold within 24 hours. We all love you both and your boat
Thank you. Possibly wishful thinking but you never know!
Love your honesty....good luck!....somehow your channel grew on me so I will continue your restless and mature life. You are an inspiration to me...I am 72 and have 2 boats😂🎉
You could follow in Alluring Arctic Sailing steps and do the Northwest Passage you need more clothes.
Not just clothes. We looked into it and Esper would require another refit, considering the insulation and heating requirements!
I was interested in sailboats, but when I saw Liz, Jamie, Milli and Esper @PSS; I knew I was going to get a sailboat, after 8 years looking I found Pegasus. Thank you for your videos, and fair winds, be well.
Our pleasure. It's encouraging to hear that our videos helped others with their own purchase. We will continue though!
I'm excited for you ! Sorry market is not the best but what fun to do something different and how cool it will still be on a boat! Cheers warren
Thanks, Warren, we're excited too. If we don't sell immediately, we'll just carry on sailing!
Thank you. Whatever we do next, stairs or no stairs, we will continue to put out fun content on the water.
Maybe you could crew on several different types of boats and locations until you make up your mind on what comes next. This could be the chance to try some things you’ve never experienced before. Looking forward to following your journey.
I like this idea!
Had to happen, but Ive had at least 10 years following you and being inspired. Thankyou and good luck Esper is out of my reach, but im looking !
Cheers, Dave. You keep looking and we'll keep posting.
Excited for you both, I'd love Esper! Look forward to what's next..... Greece? Caribbean? Easier to get home from. xx
I think we could quite happily settle around the Greek islands!
During the pandemic a sister ship sold for a little under $25000 in Tahiti... it had been sitting on the docks for a few years and covered but the sun really does take a toll on boats in the tropics. $60000 may be closer to reality considering the location and age... good luck. I have been enjoying watching for years.
A sister ship to what? I'm unsure what your $60k estimate is referring to.
I would get land on the water with a dock and a sailboat and sail around SE Asia still with a nice comfy home base
That would be perfect!
I am interested in a "delta" video. What features of your current life can be improved? Faster boat? Colder climate? More European flavor? More traveling? Less traveling? What is your ++ in each aspect of life?
These are great subjects for podcast discussions!
Fantastic, thanks for sharing. Let the new adventure begin!
We'll drink to that!
Farming sounds like a lot of hard work! We need to keep moving, and it has to be on water... lots of options! Liz 💛🙏
Best of luck Liz and Jamie. I wish you well in whatever new venture you take up. I have had great times watching your escapades and what comes next. It’s measured, good honest content. Hope Esper sells well and soon for you, I can only dream of a craft so beautiful. Thank you both 👍
She is the bees bananas; strong, safe and ready to go. I'm feeling sick at the idea of not being on her any more. 😶Thanks for the lovely comments. Liz
The two things constant in life is change & time. ❤
Nicely put, and so true. Wise words 👍
Gonna miss your episodes. There's a sadness for me coz you guys inspired me to try this lifestyle out. Wishing you both the best in your next adventure together. Health and happiness. ❤ Sam & Rene 😊
We'll still be here in some form or another! Liz x
Exciting! Will follow you anywhere. I mean, maybe not to a catamaran. lol. But probably on a catamaran too... Can't wait to see what lovely people get to be the new stewards to your lovely Esper.
Thanks, Erica. A catamaran isn't off the list (never say never and all that), but were I to move onto one I doubt Liz would follow 😅
@@followtheboat Liz can come stay with me on my Beneteau 48! We can cruise to Maine!
Congrats on your decision. It must have been hard. Not watching Liz & Jaime on Esper will be the end of an era😪
But ! Looking forward to your next boat AND Adventures👍👍👍👍👍
Yes, it was a very difficult decision to make but we're now excited for the next phase in our lives 😃
I bought my boat thru Paul Jackson in Langkawi .. and still keep it on the Island .. I agree, top notch guy .. !
Liz
Well, I wish you the best. you guys have been a pleasure to watch and follow
And hopefully we will continue to be 😁
@@followtheboat of course!
Very excited for you both! No worries, we will follow you to the ends of the earth! Whatever that nautical mode of transportation ends up being. Cheers to you both!
Wow, now you've got me thinking. I feel like some of the places we've seen could be called "the ends of the Earth". 🙏💛Liz
Omgoodness, my dears, what a surprise!
I've been following you for goodness knows how many years, back to the time of 'Captain Millie'! ☺️
Seding all love, and all best wishes for the futurw, Claire and the new 'Sofa Crew', Berlin 😘😘😘❤️
Thanks, Claire. Big shout out to the sofa crew!
Noooo🥺oooo😬oooo !
😊
Best of luck with the sale guys.
Someone will be buying a well sorted & well maintained vessel.
Yes, with a recorded history and being well maintained, she is a very good buy!
This will be fun for you guys. All the best to you guys.
Yeah, we're looking forward to it!
At this stage in your journey I would seriously consider a power yacht. I don’t see you two on a Cat. Whatever you decide I will eagerly watch and can’t wait for your decision. All the best!
Good Luck, Thanks for everything. I'll keep looking for your content...
Nice one, thank you 👌
Good luck on your next adventure!
Thanks, Wayne 👍
i assume that one day you would sell but didn't think that it would be so soon; Maybe find a little piece of land in one of those great remote locations that you've been to, build a hut on the water with a pathway to the land, and you would be on the water still.
That sounds magical and is something we often talk about. If we can't live ON the water, we need to be next to it!
Can we narrow I down to salt or fresh water? 🤔
You can! Go for it!
wow what a big surprise !
Thank you, Mark. We fully intend to stay on the water. Where or how is the question!
Do what makes you happy guys! We will always Follow your Boat!⛵️ Good luck with the sale of your beautiful Esper 😍🤗🤗
Thank you. Yes, our happiness comes before anything else 👍
Thankyou 👍 I wish you all the best for the future
You are very welcome. Best to you too! Liz
The only constant is change. Can't wait to see where you two end up & what you end up in.
Neither can we! Change must be embraced. It's something I was uncertain of initially as I saw myself getting old on Esper, but this change is an important one.
Best wishes with whatever you decide to do next 💕
Cheers 🙏
Good luck for the future. Change is always good for the soul...
Thanks! I couldn't agree more. Change can lift and inspire. 💛Liz
Sad to see Esper go, but excited to see what you get in the future. I think a cat has a more suitable floorplan for those ageing knees and you can each have a hull for those 'F**k Off' days haha.
It will take a lot of persuasion to get me on a cat... And money. 😆 Liz
This is a great boat to buy. Loved by the owners and recently upgraded. Oyster is one of the 4 top of the range bluewater in the world and at 100 k it is a steal!
We agree! She's a beauty and priced fairly for a whole lot of boat. Thanks for the lovely comment. Liz x
I noted that the engine hours were not specified in the ad at Yacht World. Is the hour meter broken?
As we say in the video, please contact Paul if you're interested in viewing or buying and need more information. Liz
@@followtheboat Whatever your plans are, you can still share your sailing knowledge with the community. Your podcasts have always been beneficial and entertaining. Cheers.
Whatever you decide to do, you legacy is both tangible and unique. Know this: it is in great part because of you 2 that we have decided to go cruising full time with my partner Sammy, starting in 2025. We bought a 43 footer last week and the project is full steam ahead. so thank you.
It's really humbling when we receive this kind of comment, and so exciting to know we've helped someone, thank you. And fair winds for your new adventure! 🙏💨 Liz
How high are the ceilings inside and under the Bimini?

I can't read anything in your reply
@ianbarlow5581 As we say in the video, please contact Paul if you're interested in viewing or buying and need more information. Liz
It's been 10 years? I found you during that long refit.
It's been 20 years, Jaqui! But yes, 10 or so years since the refit. 11 or 12, actually. That feels like both a long time ago and only yesterday.
@@followtheboat I know the feeling, it only feels like a couple of years since the refit was happening and I found your channel.
My health has been on a downward slide, a slow one, I spent the first weekend of September 2024 in hospital because of it, just observation, and am still well ahead of the norm for Canadians with COPD as that was my first one and I should have been in at least 6 times by now.
Sorry to hear that, @@jaquigreenlees. Wishing you all the best and fucking of you. Thank you for all your comments and feedback over the years.
I wish I could buy the boat. Good luck with your sale and I hope you enjoy whatever you get next.
Thank you, appreciated. Keep watching!
Been watching since the beginning. Always hoped you would make it to San Diego.
First, it was Milly, then Espar, then...? Hold fast Jaime!
Eeek! I'm always watching my back, Steven 😅
I think I seen you checking out that Cat the other day, you looked great on it, nice CaT..
We're always checking out cats. And dogs 😉
Hey guys! It'll be hard to stay away from the water after so many years aboard and loving it! Whatever you choose to do, we wish you both all the best! We also sold Emerald Steel recently and decided to do the Compostela de Santiago to keep us occupied...what's next, who knows? If you're with the one you love, it will be good❤❤
Hey guys, so sorry we missed this comment. Liz said she knew you had sold Emeral Steel but this completely passed me by! It sounds like you are in exactly the same position as us but, as you say, as long as we're with the ones we love, it'll be all good. Wise words from wise people. Hope you are both having fun. Please stay in touch.
@followtheboat Thanks, Jaime! So far, so good! We're happily living in the Czech Rep, our new home base. Hopefully, we still have many more traveling years in us but it will be on land and by plane, train etc. Thanks for the reply and as always, wishing you both all the very best in your future endeavors ❤❤
Good luck y’all
Thank you!
Oooh have a contest guessing what piece of water! Best wishes going fwd
Jaime get the 1200’s and vinyl out!! Make a dj mix!
Yay! Maybe a mixing desk on the new vessel? I like the competition idea, hold that thought ... Liz 👍

Wow twists and turns 😂 I wish you could have waited 2 months house closes end of November I'm sure it will be sold by then good luck can't wait until the next chapter! We'll done and thanks for the adventure 😀.
If it hasn't sold by then (I love your confidence, haha!) get in touch with Paul. Liz 💛🙏
I guess you will be needing to buy some big coats 😄Wherever you wind up will be colder than the equator. We are sorry to see Esper go, but if you need to be back here then sailing her back is not really an option.
We don't know where we'll be yet so we're putting that coat purchase on hold! Yes, sailing back towards the Med area is not on the cards. We've had enough pirate-infested waters for a lifetime 😅
Houseboat in Vancouver BC
Nice idea. I love Vancouver!
Oh Jamie! I so love The mighty Esper! Wow!
Me too!! I'm now wondering why we're leaving her, she's the best! Liz 💛
@followtheboat
Oh Liz!
You are amazing! Inspiring thousands with your adventures to live their best lives. Me included. Thank you for this. As a sailor, the sea is synonymous with change. May you adapt to this new chapter with grace and Elon. You got this.(
Jaime too). Much love from a faraway friend!
Cheers Jeff
Interesting times ahead, curiosity is biting hard but we shall wait and see if my possible ideas come true.
You and us both, Brian!
Good luck.
Thanks, Dan 👍
Esper is going to miss you both. I'd like to cross an ocean on a cutter rigged ketch at some point in my life, but now is too soon.
Are you headed to a canal boat? Could be fun!
It could... ;)
Thanks for reminding us, Daniel. We need to add the two tokays to the list of included gear 😅
Good onya you two! Love your show. Sometimes you need to make a change. I'm based in Nha Trang Vietnam, may pop over and say hello to Paul. 🎉❤
He's a great fella. 😊 Liz
I just caught up with you again while rebuilding all the channels I lost. There you go selling Esper. Well I cannot see you as Nessie Hunters in Scotland so perhaps a larger boat to charter. I also cannot see you in a sailboat with electric motors. It is good to be back though.
Nice to hear from you, Desmond. We wondered where you'd been!
@@followtheboat Medical problems.
Cheers!
😎
You guys are sailors on the water, but when selling the boat are down to the earth on the selling price. It seems so reasonable to me. I think it will sell fast.
Let's hope so, we've priced her to sell 🤞
Best of luck 🙂
Thank you, Michael.
The crew of Wavedancer westerly fulmar aka John and Yvonne in Ireland wish you the very best of luck in your future adventures afloat wherever they may be .
Just home from a 21 hour yacht delivery for a friend ( westerly falcon 34ft)so catching up as I said we would on FB.
Whoever is the lucky one to buy Esper will be blessed with a very trustworthy vessel just like our fantastic westerly fulmar. Like your gorgeous Esper over engineered for success but we’re reaping the rewards with a fantastic strong vessel 🚢 adventure
Yes, Esper has so much rigging (cutter and baby stay, shrouds everywhere there's space etc) that one thing we've never worried about is her power, strength and safety. Thanks for your lovely message. Liz x
Well following the You tube trend Liz is preggers and you to are selling to build a bigger home on the water. Enter the insta build plasty cat. or your buying a new Oyster or your crewing for Delos and their new machine. Peace and love from Alberta.
