Excellent helpful info thanks … loved the end it’s so true … “Remember when stepping onto yacht … something will chime, it will sing to you … that’s the right one!”
Great video, again. Thank you very much. When it comes to whats included when buying a boat... Usually only what is written in the contract is guaranteed to be included with the purchase. If the Dinghy is not mentioned in the contract, it is usually not included.
I like to go to the boat shows, not because I am going to buy a new boat, but to find ideas for things I might want to add or modify on my boat. Also, sometimes it's fun to fantasize about that $1.5 million boat. Just make sure you don't break anything on one of those boats. :)
Thanks for the info! Yes, buying a boat is one about compromises. We love our boat & I do agree about having an aft cabin versus one up in the bow. I am interested in chartering an Oyster and/or other center cockpit type set up, but they only come as a skippered chartered only & they are so dang expensive. Makes sense though, given the type & cost of the boat. Do you find the access for maintenance of an Oyster is any better than others types?
Thank you so much for this awesome series. Just want your thoughts on sail drive vs shaft drive. The context is that we have made an offer on a sail drive boat and we are getting scared off by people to go in for a shaft drive.
You mentioned Lithium batteries but given the spate of problems associated with these batteries not least of which is their ability to explode with catastrophic effect are these batteries not to be avoided at all costs I would welcome any comment on this
Hi Geoff. You are thinking of lithium ion batteries. We are discussing lithium iron phosphate (LiFePo4), which are different. Much more stable than lithium ion, which is what you'll find in phones and has a higher propensity to explode.
Was your broker U.K.-based with his fingers extending all the way to Turkey or did you have a Turkish or an Eastern Mediterranean-based broker? Have you told the story of how you found and bought Esper? Great talk!
The broker was Oyster, with links all round the world. Oyster was top of our list, but it was about finding one at a price we could afford. We've talked about it quite a lot, but not dedicated a video to buying her. Cheers! Liz 🙏⚓

Yes, good point, John.
a little addition: try to open and close all seacocks. When stuck it is likely it has to be replaced.
Yes, good point 👍
Remember to find and budget for where you are going to berth even if its just temporary. Dockage or on the hard fees can add up quick!
I love the change in the intro again…..I missed it for a long time!!!
Glad you like it! Liz 🙏
Thanks, FTB Crew, for sharing your experience and knowledge! Great series.⛵⛵⛵
