Super sensational! I'm Captain Wantuil and I'm also a doctor in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In my spare time I also renovate boats and build schooners in the State of Bahia. Congratulations to the three of you for your effort and dedication in bringing this wonderful boat back to life.
a lot of people think theyre too lazy and too stupid to try and do something like this. but what they really are is uninspired and lonely. watching you all get together and do this is very inspiring and motivating. its a great model to emulate: working together with a goal and keeping each other going. thank you for sharing it. youre doing a lot more than just fixing a yacht, youre demonstrating love and teamwork. its a lovely melody.
@Shane888 Davies Boats are a financial disaster though despite all the other good things. Just bottomless money pits, so you can talk the talk, but you also need a good disposable income, or a decent capital sum you don't mind losing.
Damn...after all these years of thinking I was lazy and stupid when in fact I'm just uninspired and lonely. Thank you Mr. Wizard for such a profound statement.
@Shane888 Davies Everything. It's very easy to eulogise about the pleasures and benefits of fixing up a boat. Or to label people as lazy, stupid, or uninspired for not doing so. But probably the most important reason people don't is they don't have wads of cash or bottomless pockets. It's not even much of an investment because, such is power of the ocean, it will all need doing again in 10 years time.
Dad was a fisherman for 50 years, and owned his last boat for 25 years. In that time she underwent several transformations, a fair few gallons of paint and tons of loving! The video was wonderful to watch and I wish you and your family well in your amazing adventure!
I've had a few boats and love people who want to get on the briny. Your lady underneath grind/painting, awesome. Make her Captain !. Nice one fellow barnacles. Dave
Hi from Indiana, USA, you all are the most talented and incredible folks I've ever seen in my 74 yr. life time.!! Amazing and I'm looking forward for more, good luck and God Bless.
Seriously, great family project. It is great to see a family work together and build something so great. Keep up the great modifications and restorations. God Bless your Family.
An overwhelming amount of work, to get done, but you and your family took the challenge on, and have done a wonderful job of restoring your boat! I can't wait to see it completed.
I was wondering when you look back at the boat before you started do you ever think "We must have been crazy"? Well I for one am pleased you did! You three have entertained, amused and at times amazed me with your endeavours. I cannot tell you how impressed I am with you all! Roll on 2022 and more SAILING MELODY! Thankyou.
Andy...What an achievement, and such a supportive Wife and Son you have. You and your family are going to know your boat inside and out and when you set sail, moreover you will have the technical ability to repair anything whilst at sea. Follow your dreams, your doing the right thing. A new subscriber..
Hey! Thanks so much for your lovely support and kind words. We’re still just blown away that people find us entertaining and want to watch our videos 😊😂
I must comment. That was completely astounding. It was not clear whether this vessel could be salvaged from all the decay and degradation this old girl had accumulated over her life. I have seen many old houses recovered from many years. My thought has always been to just throw in the towel and start anew from the ground up. This is one that I don't think I would have undertaken. But, refreshingly, you have done an incredible job. The videography was excellent and thorough. You brought to life the effort and detail of your endeavor here. My hat is off to all of you. She is now coming to a "new" life because of all your work. Her grandure is once again shining through. You guys are awesome. "Bully to You"!
It is only by seeing this in retrospect can one only fully appreciate the scale of the project you have so bravely undertaken. It is this retrospect that so ably demonstrates both your teamwork and the the considerable progress you have made in such a relatively short time. Well done and thank you for sharing. 😀👍⛵️
What an incredible family you have. I can not imagine my wife bucking up and doing half the work that yours has done. My respects to all of you from a fellow Captain (all oceans). I look forward to following you to your launch day. Good luck!
Melody, through all your hard work has come a very long way. She looked very sorry for herself originally but now looks superb externally. Andy I know you do keep it all going by having to work to bring the beer tokens in, that must be very difficult knowing Melissa is doing her thing while you’re away, and what an amazing job she’s doing. Melissa is a fantastic driven one woman army tackling jobs many would shy away from. Well done all of you. Captain Jack, you’re a great lad a credit to mum and dad. Looking forward to your start in the new year. Stay safe and well, see you soon.
If i did not see it with my eyes, i would have never believed possible , this Project testifies one simple equation " Where there's a will, there's a way ", i am just blown away what a human will can do. simply astonished. looking forward to watching and following you folks, years to come.you are inspirationally amazing.God bless you all.
What a lovely little family! Particularly love that your son was a part of it. My grandfather built his own 42" yacht in his backyard. Watching this, I can almost smell the resin of the boat. Thanks for sharing. We'll done!

Lots of dedicated hard work so far and much more to do and a family who will have a wonderful seaworthy craft to enjoy when completing their hard work. Congratulations on what you have achieved so far.

Keep up the great work!
We are in the middle of renovating our fibreglass catamaran. So to see your whole family working on a refit of epic proportions is magic! Mad respect from a couple in Western Australia!
I must say you folks are doing a terrific job. Looking better every day and come that final launch day when you know all have done a great job. I wish you all health, some wealth but most of all, fair weather sailing. Blessings from Lomita, California.

I watch another channel also, Sailing Project Atticus. This week, he said that basically things in life are better when you work for them. You guys are embodying that sentiment here. Sailing her is going to be such a joy, partly because you'll all three know you brought her back from the brink of scrap and made her a real gem! Awesome show guys.
Two things I love after watching this video, is that this old girl was saved from the gas axe, and lived to sail another day. And the other thing, you've all taken on such a tough project with great enthusiasm, great vision and a family project. I think it's great. Look forward to see the finished yacht on the water.

I just discovered your channel today and watched this compilation. Big shout out to you and especially to the lady of the boat who is so skilled with power tools and all the other things I saw you doing in the video! Can't wait to watch more and I love your positive attitudes... You plunged into a boat that has a lot of special needs to see it put right again and I can see that you are dauntless. Love it!

Whoever took on this project is beyond brave and amazingly positive-minded I mean I bought houses that were just ready for the bulldozer but this boat would scare the hell out of me
Great work guys, I´m about to embark on a restoration of my own 11 metre steel trawler, Swedish built in 1985, it isn´t quite as rusty as yours was but still a bit of work to do to get it how I would like. Just fired the engines up today for the first time in almost two years, she´s been laying in the water for two Swedish winters now but old Volvo MD32s ran sweet, we gave her some fresh oil and filters and now we´re planning the logistics for a 120NM trip from Stockholm south to Västervik where we bought a farm by the sea last year, I´m lucky enough to have a few big barns where I can get her inside and do a full renovation, I will of course be documenting all of this and uploading to youtube. Good luck with the rest of your project!
Wow, you're truly a blessed man. You have a wife who appears to be willing and able to do most anything and a child who is no slouch either. I enjoyed the video greatly and am waiting to see what 2022 will bring! Thanks from George in Texas!
I'm speechless. This video reminded me of renovating my first sailboat 20 years ago. I wish you all the best on this journey sailors. Happy new year and good vibes from Brazil.
Hats off to all of you. So few people have the skills or the will to take on this kind of project these days. You’ve saved a boat. Happy sailing folks - you deserve fair winds.
What do you mean these days? Are less people fixing up boats than they used to? Was there a time when taking on this kind of project was more common? We have TH-cam and chat rooms to help with and inspire these kinds of projects.
@@steveanton763s very much. As a kid in the 70s men like my dad (we had small cruisers and dinghies ), lots of people, had light engineering skills and weren’t afraid to turn a piece of metal on a lathe, do some carpentry, varnishing, engine mechanics. wiring etc Of course there are people like you who still can but not so many in the general population. I’m also UK based where most people don’t have the time or space for hobbies any more and/or just haven’t learnt. In the US it seems more common as a lot of folk have been in the military and have practical skills and there’s more light industry - so transferable skills. And perhaps a bit more disposable income to tinker.
So, as I see, you acquired an excellent profession and the business as well. There are plenty of abandoned boats you can get for almost free and after restoration you will have the fleet of ready to launch vessels. Happy to see the band of such excellent workaholics and good friends, what is rare to see at now days. Good for you guys!
Oh my goodness/ we wouldn’t dream or restoring lots of boats. This one alone is plenty for us 😂😂😂 no intention of making a business out of restoring boats.
I was watching this with my heart in my mouth…all I kept saying was “that is one brave family”…it’s one thing to tackle a project like this with a compressor, sandblaster and plenty of space and POR15 in the warmth of the Australian climate but to do it in those conditions….bugger me!
This episode made it all look so easy! Love your whole family's determination. I enjoy following your adventures, remember you will get there. I only wish I had done something like this when I was younger.
That amount of work is INSANE guys you rock !! All of you sincerely ! Also thank you for this lecture I can not describe it any other way ! As a beginner and wanting to sail my own ship one day this is a master piece of demonstration of what a ship can take both in damage, deterioration and repairs. What a job ! I hope you have a grat time on that beautiful craft you revived !
Your family is awesome! WOW!😁 I can not wait to see the finished Yacht. What a lot of hard work you all did. Jack, you should feel proud your so young and you really did a lot of hard work. Love you guys.
Beautiful to see the whole family working on such a wonderful project. Much experience is needed to finish such a dream. The music 🎶 is very nice, very enjoyable to watch. My hat goes off to all the family!
I’d say I’ve watched about 1/3rd of your episodes so far, early, mid and later progress and Im blown away tbh! There’s seems to be so many skills and so much knowledges required to fix a boat I don’t know how you cope. Everything seems to have been done with such consideration and skill, hats off to you all. And hats off to jack he’s a delight and developing such great skills, when I was his age I could bare fold a newspaper. Great stuff you’re doing Jack 👍🏼
It doesn’t do justice to all that hard work that went by in minutes. Great job. She’s an incredible vessel. Many happy time ahead for you. Wishing you calm seas and fair winds.

Hello from France, may I ask, where is this located ? So how far is the restoration now ? How much money and time did you spent on it until now ?
To me the BEST part of this whole thing is that the quality time spent with your family will be the lasting memories long after the boat is gone.

Thank you! There’s still a long way to go and we will never be actually “finished” but splash day is getting nearer and nearer
Hi watch your Vid twice you all worked so hard your wife worked like a train very clever with her hands
first time seeing a video of a family working on a boat restoration, sweet!
A brilliant family, what it's about .can't wait to see you're adventures around the world.
Fantastic ! The time-lapse shows how much progress has transpired. Wow ! Thank you from Montana across the pond
Очень большой труд!!! Вы отличная семья!!!! Удачи вам!!!!
Just awesome! Love to see a kid with a cordless drill in his hand. Much better than an iphone.

That's an epic amount of work, and in such a short amount of time. The transformation is amazing.
