A great tip. I’m wanting to video my rides in Saigon Vietnam. And was ready to put the mount on my helmet. And saw your video. I sure don’t want the mount popping off while riding a motorbike in Saigon.
I hear you on the helmet. The Shred Ready helmets (standard helmet) are the only ones that seem to fit my head shape, long and narrow. I could never get any of the other helmets to fit, but haven’t tried a Sweet Protection. Now that I’m a newbie transitioning to hard boats from inflatables and rafts I’m spending a lot more time with my head exposed in the water. Will definitely check it out. Great tip on the GoPro mount too. Most adhesives seem to work better with a little heat activation.
@@WadeHarrisonThis comment aged well. I did end up buying a Sweet Protection helmet back in September. Fits well. Took a head shot (well, multiple head shots in one incident) last weekend. First time that has happened. Super glad I had this helmet. I have walked away with just a slightly sore neck. Sweet gave me a 40% discount on a replacement helmet using their crash replacement program. I’m totally sold on the Rocker.
Thanks Wade. Just ordered me a Hero 11 and can't wait to try it for whitewater, mushroom hunting and videos of my band. I see the fishing line on there... good idea. Maybe ten pound test? I want it to break if things go really south...
Use to use braided fishing line like that as well to hold the GoPro on my motor cowling running through timber duck hunting - keeps you from losing that sucker when the mount breaks
Do you have to let it cure for a while? I need to mount one late this night and use it in the morning. Will it hold a camera or there's a chance it fly's off?
Oh for sure overnight will be good to go I actually spoke to a rep from 3m and she told me 24hrs was perfect cure time but still I would run a tether to the go pro
@@WadeHarrison true, but I only have a few hours to spare, so I don't know if it's safe or not. For reference, I did went to that kart race after letting it cure for just a few hours and it's been super solid. I guess after 24 hours it would only be removed with a layer of helmet still stuck to it 🤣
@@ThemeParkNomadsOfficial yes do it like this but I would highly recommend still running some sort of small tethered string just in case it flys off so the go pro doesn’t hit someone

Yes the representative from 3m adhesive was the one that told me you want to heat that tape up and get it hot before application of course not like on fire only melted but just like warm
That trick with the lighter really didnt work for me. Just destroyed the stickness an the foam and it did not hold. Maybe i did it wrong. I have to buy some new holders. I think I will go just with the original stickness without the lighter trick next time. But I dont know maybe I just did it wrong.

Another one would be to mark the exact place where the mount should go.
Yeah I had a sharpie I used one time

I do and no I don't think its a snag hazard where its at and its not enough to hold you
What did you do for your tether? Also I agree that SR brand sucks and I’m looking into a Sweet Protection one. How do you feel about WRSI helmets?
