    I'm sold, for when I'm ready to buy. This one seems like a lot of thought & detail went into the creation. Plus it's way more heavy duty than the other ones, but still lightweight. Absolutely love the big awning & shower room, & that it's not see through up top. The easy setup & everything about it. Definitely at the top of my list, & will be buying one in the near future.👍👍

    TJ,
    Been following you for a while, love your content! One question I've been looking at toppers and one thing I see in a lot of them is the
    dust getting into them while off road. How is the over all seal keeping the dust and unwanted water from the outside getting in.
    Love your Termor, mines ordered.

    • @TremorTrails
      @TremorTrails  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Yeah I wish I hit on this in the video. The seal is great! I ran some dusty roads hardly noticed any inside. I have some holes in my floor I need to re-seal. The dirtbox is bone dry and tight. The locks can actually adjust to tighten seals. So after a year or so you re-adjust if they got loose on trails. Thanks!

    Great video. Thanks for taking the time to put this together. How would you compare this product against the Super Pacific? Thanks for checking it out! Imho the dirtbox offers way more flexibility as far as customization. Also I'm not a fan of SP doors or the way many owners claimed water gets in. Both good products but Dirtbox has so many upsides.

      @@TremorTrails hey, I know you're busy, would you mind elaborating on your point of the SP doors and how water might get in to your tent or shell? The reason for me is I plan to have water sensitive gear in the shell 🙂

    • @TremorTrails
      @TremorTrails  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @358studios when I was researching I noticed quite a few guys complaining about water coming in from the seal to the bed of truck. The doors use a channel inside of trim which can cause water to seep in. They may be addressing these issues now, I honestly don't know. It was over a year ago when I was looking at SP before I went with Dirtbox.

    In using your tailgate, how is it for keeping dust out? I have yet to see a canopy camper, wedge style that keeps the tailgate and keeps dust and water out completely. How does it compare to the Alu Cab Canopy Camper?

    • @TremorTrails
      @TremorTrails  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I have a tailgate seal. Everyone will need one if you want to keep dust and water out. It's not the canopy design from manufacturers per say, that really causes it. It's the gap on the truck where the tailgate opens. Alu-Cab deletes the tailgate. Then installs a door and back siding.

    Made in China?

    • @TremorTrails
      @TremorTrails  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, just like Iphones, John Deere, Dewalt tools and pretty much everything else in life. Just cause it's built in China doesn't mean it's junk. Dirtbox has its own manufacturing and has been in the overland industry for years with different products. Toa, Jay's other partner is the creator of the original extruded aluminum RTT (with patent, that everyone has copied) Toa and Jay hold many patents, including elements of Alu-Cab and others. Hope this helps!

    Do the Ford antennas work with the Dirtbox canopy camper covering them?

    • @TremorTrails
      @TremorTrails  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The only thing that doesn't work great is Sat Radio. GPS and regular radio work fine. There is a 40 dollar part that lets you move the antennas to where ever you want to mount them. It hooks up in the back of the head unit itself. My buddy has it on his Bronco and works flawless. I haven't put one on mine yet.

    • @TremorTrails
      @TremorTrails  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It wasn't a great fit for me. I thought the lines looked boxy, and I didn't care for the way they did their side doors. They use a slot to funnel water away, and gaskets seemed small and cheap to keep dust out. Lack of adding accessories to the side unless I drilled into the unit was a no go for me. Tent canvas (to me) seemed thin and not blackout material. Roof inside tent lacked insulation. Same price as Dirtbox (slightly more) but without added features of the Dirtbox.

    Great video. Seems like a solid contender. Here's a couple of questions.
    Does the rear brake light have the ability/programmability to serve as an amber chase light when your foot is off the brake?
    Does the Dirtbox come pre-wired for solar and/or a fan in ceiling? Is there a hole/solution to get the wiring inside the camper?
    Is there some sort of window vents to reduce condensation on rainy/cold nights or days when you are stuck inside with the primary windows/doors closed?
    I'd like to see more about methods to get the sleeping bunk up out of the way. Someone need to design a system where the platform goes up on gas struts (this part already exists) and there is a flat surface, inside the camper, over the cab that can slide out several inches to make some sort of desk/work surface. I envision myself working from the camper some days.
    How much testing has gone into the struts which are exposed to the elements? I'm a little concerned about water/rust/reliability of struts sitting out in the weather. Does the adjustable feature of the outside struts offset the fact that they are in the weather?
    You mentioned in a comment that you might do a Part 2 detailing inside features of the Dirtbox. I think that's a great idea and lots of folks would like to see it.
    Thanks! Great job on this video.

    • @TremorTrails
      @TremorTrails  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No the rear light is a DOT mandate for 3rd light.
      No it does not come pre wired. The outer aluminum is capped. Running wires through the extrusion is pretty straight forward and easy if you want to expand.
      Yes they have bug screens for the sides. Front window has slide and of course you can vent the tent windows slightly if needed.
      The Struts like mentioned in the video have been tested below -30 F above 122F The company is in Denver and have had no issues with snow rain or salt for several years on their struts.
      There are 2 flat surface working areas inside the canopy when the bed is lifted. I'll try to do a video about the inside down the road.
      All great questions. Thanks for watching!

      @@TremorTrails Thanks for the reply. I understand that the rear brake light is DOT mandate, but it seems to me that could design a light that meets the DOT red brake light requirement, then on each end of the bar have a couple of amber lights, which would fill two needs.
