I did this a few years ago on my tracer 2017, about to do it again on my 2019 tracer. 1 thing to take into account: those auxiliary connectors are fused at 2 amps. This means that if your phone charges/pulls more than ~24 watts (a lot of phones do these days, quick charging 60+ watts) it might blow the 2 amp fuse. I changed the 2amp fuse on my previous bike to a 5 amp one, increasing the range to (5x12) ~60 watt. The wiring harness handles this without issue (ran it for years). Btw the fuse I’m talking about is located on the front of the bike behind the fairing your indicator lights are mounted to.
Well if it ever stops working, you probably popped the fuse. Theres a little fuse box behind the (iirc) right fairing. If it happens, just replace it with a 5 amp one :)
I wonder how much you saved by installing this yourself. You made it look so simple-encouraging, even swapping the positive-negative cables. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for this great tutorial, really easy to follow. I just installed mine but the issue I have is that the unit comes on as soon as I turn the ignition on and then I have to turn it off. I can see with yours that it doesn't turn on until you push the button to turn it on. I don't like it on all the time as I only really use it when touring and I can see the reflection of the display in my windscreen, it's annoying to have to turn it off every time. Is there anything I can do to change this? Or did I just get a different variant of charger than you?
Thanks for stopping by my channel. I think you got a different version of the charger, there are some that had that functionality. I didn't choose that coz of the same reason.
Thanks! Yes, you can use the second connector to add the crash bar LED light, however, the stock fuse on these connectors are rated for 2AMP, you will have to change that fuse to 5amp or find a light which is rated for 2amp power draw.
Great vid. I was almost trying to buy all the products, but don’t you mean to say that the left socket will just work with a cigarette lighter to usb product?
Thanks for stopping by my channel! And yes, you are right the cigarette lighter to usb chargers will work just fine, i preferred it this way to save that port for other things like heated jackets n all. Also, the vibration causes the charger to slide out and lose contact..
@StefanSandberg-wg2bu happy to help! Do give it some consideration. If you find a good piece it might be okay, but most that i tried (usually a few bucks from Amazon) don't fit tight enough to stay connected due to vibration, and I had to keep pushing it in after every 10 mins or so.. find it annoying.
I think it's called the Yamaha RMAX connector "Yamaha Wolverine RMAX and 850 X2 X4 RMAX2 RMAX4 Replace B4J-H25B0-V0-00" check cideo description, I have added a link to Amazon in case you want to order online

Thanks for the comment! Great idea! I didn't need it but good to know! :)

It was actually very simple! Dealership usually charge for labor by hour, i am guessing they would charge an hour or two of work.. just a guess.
Just did this mod, thank you!
Came out great 👍
Perfect! 👍🏻

Great video, thank you! I will try this procedure on my Tracer tomorrow. Can the second(unused) connector be used to connect crash bar LED lights?
Thanks! Yes, you can use the second connector to add the crash bar LED light, however, the stock fuse on these connectors are rated for 2AMP, you will have to change that fuse to 5amp or find a light which is rated for 2amp power draw.

Hi Drifter, could you possibly share the link to the equipment you bought? Thanks!
Ofcourse! Added the link to bothe items (USB charger and connector) in the video description.
Thanks a lot!
Hello , would this work on Tracer 9 Gt 2023?
It will. Just be mindful of the polarity of the connector.
Thx for tutorial
Happy to help!
merci pour cette vidéo
You are welcome!
Hello, by any chance do you know how is the connector named?

@@drifter-indian1448 thank you for the reply... Con't find the wire in Romania and i think i'll solder the wires directly
