Idk how a wolverine (great spelling btw) can actually be fun. Spider-Man's great cause he has fun traversal systems. Guardians of the Galaxy have an amazing, fun narrative and you can't go wrong with guns. . . . mechanically speaking, most we can get out of Wolverine is climbing walls, dash-running on 4 legs, and making him a hack-and-slash genre. . . . and I think the avengers (story-mode) game showed off how well THAT concept works >.> Maybe they can throw in a "sniff" gimmick. . . but that's all it will be. . . a gimmick. I'm hopeful. . . but there are so many better candidates from marvel that could give you much more fun game mechanics to work with. Ghost Rider, Fantastic 4, Silver Surfer, Dare Devil (trying to avoid any of the Phase 1 MCU avengers since they got their own game already).

There’s only two factors that define if game is interesting or not: mechanics and narrative. Insomniac can nail the narrative, and thats their biggest hope, just like it was for death stranding. No one, not even the best, can make an orange out of spinach. So until i hear someone say how they otherwise could, ima have to remain unhyped

Originally, Spider-Man was just one of the Marvel characters that they were considering adapting into a video game. There were others, but they thought Spider-Man would be the best fit. Wolverine will be a fun game, but it will most likely be more linear than Spider-Man. That means the visuals will have increased fidelity. And, it’s the X-Men, so I doubt he will be the only playable character.
It would have been dope. . . if it actually showed us anything. Just calling it a remake doesn't mean anything till we see what that actually means. As it stands, they just showed us a new trailer for an old PC game, but showed it off at a console E3-equivilant presentation using "not actual footage". . . it told us nothing :/ Good announcement, but done in a lame way in the wrong place.
Originally, when Sony hired them to create a Marvel video game, they hadn’t decided which character to adapt. Contrary to most people’s knowledge of the matter, Sony doesn’t own the video game rights to Spider-Man - only the movie rights. More likely than not, this is probably one of the ideas that they had originally scrapped.
Very nice showing, I have my series x and don’t regret my purchase but when PS5 gets either a slim or a price cut I will definitely grab one for the exclusives alongside my X
As much as I loved the showcase, I really was annoyed that they just chucked all these titles at us to create all this hype for the “Best showcase ever”. They showed us all these games and most of them aren’t coming till 2023+.

@@theknightftw1 But wasn't the PS3 game just a simplistic corridor hack-and-slash? How can something like that exist in modern day? The closest example I can think of is Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 and compare what they did with Kingdom Hearts 3. . . as far as game design goes. . . but even that game mixed it up with more dynamic movement mechanics like flowmotion. I compare it to xmen legends where the game felt kinda arcady where you walk around and then press the attack buttons. Great for it's time but a design that is a bit dated. A better example to that would be the Deadpool game by high-moon studio. Stuff like that doesn't fall in line with how high expectations have come for what games need to be due to things like map design. You can fix that by expanding the map, but then that makes getting around the map feel weird/sluggish unless you expand the movement mechanics. I think The Last of Us 2's map design is a great example of how they could do it where they expand the map, but make it open while also closing it off in very narrow paths. I don't have personal experience with the PS3 game, so I am hoping you can tell me more of how it plays. I assume it's better than just "mash the light attack/heavy attack button".

But if you give a certain character to a great team, it suddenly becomes complex and interesting. Sure the PS3 game had its slow movements and stiff areas but it was a new take on wolverine, so if you think about it, this would be the second wolverine game ever. So the concept is still pretty fresh, and I trust Insomniac to do the characyer justice

Guns are always easy to design fun gameplay for and you have fun team dynamics/narrative to go with it. I question Logan cause he's just a guy. He's not known for acrobatics, gadgets or anything of the sort. He moves just like we would if we had a knife but he uses cooler "looking" fighting animations. Maybe the combat system could be like that of God of War, but that game mixed it up with rewarding exploration and puzzle solving where you can get better gear and stuff. I am just trying to understand it all properly. Modern games are just known to mix things up these days. Pacing shifters. I would argue that it's not a matter of over-simplifying the character as much as it is "the character is just very simplistic in nature as far as arsenal of capabilities go". Mechanics are literally what define gameplay, so if all they have to work with is melee combat, then they gotta get real creative with what they are gonna mix that action up with, it'd feel weird to get 10 collectables to make your bones more metallier to have a health buff or make your mutation more mutated and get a better healing factor for faster recovery rate. See what I mean when I say arcady now? Stuff like that works for spider-man narratively because he works with gadgets. I'm not saying I don't trust insomiac to do it right. I'm just wanting to figure out what "right" even "could" look like, hence why I asked originally.
KOTR, project eve, forspoken, Wolverine, Spider-Man 2, and god of war should all be fun games. I may even give gran turismo a try. Still anticipating Elden Ring the most next year though

I have 3 games in a door from 2020 christmas. . . but don't have the console to play them on yet still. They should have held onto stock and waited till the games were actually done being made before launching the console. I'm talking delaying the console for a full year then launch. Can you imagine how much better shape they would have been in if they held onto stock since then till november 2021?!
I haven’t seen a lot of people dumping on the presentation in this comment section, but in some others and in a few FB groups I’m in, people are shitting on this showcase! It makes me so frustrated to see people throwing fits over this after months of saying that Sony isn’t doing anything, and then they show us a pretty good handful of some really nice looking games only to have folks get pissy! PS fans can act so spoiled sometimes, it genuinely makes me sad. INSOMNIAC are busting their asses putting out GREAT titles and people have no appreciation for it. Being upset about price gouging or inconsistent marketing is one thing, because that’s holding corporations accountable, but being upset over a great line up of games like this? That’s just childish and it makes the rest of us look bad.
I would like to get PS5 for Gran Turismo 7. They really feel just want to forget GT Sport which released on PS4. I never got PS4 because not really that good exclusives on that console compare what PS3 had. Even getting PS5 with good price is another story.

The show was some mid for me most of them are time exclusives or multiplat ...GoW is the same game just some dlc, Spiderman the same, wolverine I am excited for wolverine though. Idk most of that show was CGI so I'm not too excited yet . 6 exclusives over 6-10 years isn't enough for me to upgrade from PS4 still gonna get a series x though this gen

I was lukewarm on this presentation (KOTOR was dope though) until the last 10 minutes. Then Sony just went all out.
