    A word of caution. I recently purchased one of these to carry a back-up gun while on duty. I will say this holster is very comfortable and stays in place well but for me there is a huge downside. Prior to wearing the holster on duty I tried it on and tested it at home...magazine full, chamber empty. Although the weapon feels secure in the holster at first, after jogging up and down the stairs a few times the weapon (Kahr CM9) slipped from its secure position and became loose. Then, during some very low intensity grappling the gun actually fell out of this holster as it has no form of retention other than friction. There is no way I would trust this holster in an all out foot pursuit or real hands-on altercation with someone. I believe this could be remedied easily with a hook and loop strap on the pistol side (they put one on the magazine side now so why not secure the gun too??). They were great about the return and promptly refunded my money, less any of the shipping cost. Great people, great company. I will buy another as soon as the weapon side strap is incorporated into the design.

      @@PilotPatriot Maybe you could see if you could rig up a Velcro strap of some sort. I think for the less athletic it might work fine for holding your pocket gun when you are going to be seated a lot such as driving.
      Do you think the holster would work well with a small frame revolver?

      I also have to wear climbing boots as I’m a utility company worker in a high crime rate area and work by myself. I was in 5 violent incidents in the last 12 years, only one seriously hurt me as I was pistol whipped in the ear by a full sized stainless S&W revolver. I was able to fight free and escape barefoot with nothing but my pants left on me, they took my fuckin socks! But they stopped pointing their guns directly at me when they were trying to force ne into the trunk and I escaped and ran half a block into a school where I was promptly tackled hard by the school safety officers. I now carry a blackjack, belt buckle knife of my own design and, Jframe. I’ve never used an ankle holster but I’m a skinny dude and summer is approaching and I’m thinking a good functioning ankle holster is the way to go. I’ve switched my online name to Anonymity so I can talk about working in the hood with being fired for policy violations

    Great review! I wear boots as well and was curious about fitment and what to expect since I have one on order.
    I wear a lot of slacks and they are usually loose fitting and boot cut jeans. I usually go appendix carry, however there are times when I can’t and I have to pocket carry in a suit jacket; I would rather EDC in an ankle holster and I think I found the right one.

    I might see about getting myself one of these. My dad has an ankle holster that's leather with elastic velcro and it moves around too much. Not only can I feel it with each step, but if I'm looking down at where it is, I can see it wiggling with each step. Even with fairly loose pants, like dress pants for example.
    Yeah, if you wanna conceal carry with an ankle holster, you don't want any movement. Or at least, as little as possible.

    Always been against ankle holsters for the many reasons he allready spoke of. I currently carry 2 auto pistols (one in a Urban Carry holster and the other back-up in an Uncle Mike pocket holster). Both are excellent holsters and I highly recommend them. However, they are not good when driving a vehicle/sitting down at a table in a resturant. When I'm driving, I used to take my pistol out of my pocket holster and leave in on the driver's door pannel. One time I forgot to put it back into my pocket holster (thankfully nothing happened/nobody noticed it and broke into my car to steal it) but decided to never to that again. This holster might be just be what I'm looking for and make me re-think about ankle holsters. I will look into this product more. Like someone said, the company should pay you a commission for doing this. I'm nearly sold.

      I have run with it on and it was fine. But I carry a small light m&p bodyguard and it sits deep in the holster.
      If you had a bigger heavy gun I could see it possibly coming out while running.

      I wanna get a snubnose. With this ankle guard, do you know any way to add a small shell to cover the trigger for the ankle holster?

    • @PilotPatriot
      @PilotPatriot  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@junky802 this holster does cover the trigger guard, but if you want a little more Ridgid protection, you could maybe rig it up with a kydex trigger guard cover!
      1 warning though, I do think this holster is more designed for semi-autos...a revolver may not be as comfortable since it has more protrusions and cylinder may push into your ankle. Leather may be a better option for a revolver

    Have you noticed after using the holster for awhile is if the material stretches out and now has become too loose? Either the part around your ankle or the part that holds the gun?

    • @PilotPatriot
      @PilotPatriot  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not really so far! , but I'm sure eventually it will. Just the nature of the material, all thing wear over time and extended use.

    This made my leg itch because of sweating. That and I had to keep adjusting because of circulation in my leg.

    • @PilotPatriot
      @PilotPatriot  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Richard You may just need to give it more time. Any ankle holster definitely takes time to get used to because it's something different. If sweating is the issue, any other ankle holster would likely sweat More since they are not airated like the bugbite. And the circulation issue could just be because you leg is not use to having something wrapped around it there. I felt the same way at first but after about a week I was use to it and it was very comfortable. Some people just can't get use to ankle carry, for those I say Maybe another carry option would work better for you. Possibly waist or pocket carry.

    • @PilotPatriot
      @PilotPatriot  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could do it that way by buying a left hand holster and wearing on your left leg...but its reccomended to always wear an ankle holster on the inside of support side leg.

    How well does the fire arm stay in the holster when running with it on. Let’s say during a foot pursuit, would a small gun like a Glock 42 stay in the holster even when jumping fences and such.

    • @PilotPatriot
      @PilotPatriot  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      chad hughes I have run in the holster and the gun stayed in fine (carrying s&w bodyguard). And of course it's great under normal every day walking. The smaller and lighter the gun the better it would be in those kind of situations. The way the material come over the back of the gun and the elasticity of the neoprene hold very well. With that said a custom fitted holster with retention strap would almost certainly be better in a foot persuit situation.

    • @thechadwick4751
      @thechadwick4751 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      PilotPatriot thank you for the info. As long as it isn’t going to come popping out in a foot pursuit I’m happy with it. All other ankle holsters become very uncomfortable especially in a 10 hour shift. This sounds like something that I would almost forget is even there, and as long as the firearm, which for me is a Glock 42, doesn’t come out while running I think it will be a perfect fit for me.
