- Final boss Sephiroth on hard mode. First time winning so not a perfect win or anything. Super sick boss though and pretty tough too. Will probably do this fight a bunch more once I learn new stuff and get better.

Here I was fighting Sephiroth feeling like they did the most outstanding job making him feel as impossibly powerful in gameplay as he is in lore. And then Will plays duck duck goose against the guy ☠️
Much the same with me. Like, he kicked me around and I struggled to beat him. I first tried him, but even so. Easily one of the game's harder fights.
But then I fought him head on like an idiot. Note to self:

I think he means that the future isn't set in stone and that in can be changed
supposedly, the whispers are guardians of fate that are trying to make it so everything follows the original storyline as is (the OG ff7's story), which is why they always intervene when something happens that wasn't supposed to (like saving barret cause he doesn't die there on the OG game), now that they've destroyed the whispers, they've changed time, and what's gonna happen is not something that has ever been seen before, is the point sephiroth is making
Its...the game is a bit of a stealth sequel. Seph is trying to change things using the lifestream and the ghosts were trying to stop him but couldn't. At the same time they were causing crap to happen regardless of what people wanted or intended, so they were enemies to both player and Seph. Defeating the arbiter of fate freed this timeline from the planet ghosts' grasp so the party can make their own future in this new timeline Seph created to win.
Aerith knows this, she knew everything that was going to happen as just like Seph, she's part of the life stream. She helped counter Seph and open the door to an entirely new world and story. I see it more as a call to sequels and fixing a terrible fate. It's a meta call out to the player, really. The REMAKE title is because not only is it a remake but its a KH style title explaining the plot, Seph is trying to remake the world, and now you can too.
Sure folks are upset but when I was in high school and the original came out, everyone wanted a sequel. This is a mix of remake and sequel. its weird, very nomura, but I'm still interested.

what another 20 30 years and we will say the same about this cut scene....
The cinematography of the game is miles ahead of the Advent Children movie. I rewatched it this last Sunday and there are so many angles poorly chosen for the battle scenes. There were times I really was asking myself how some of those shots made through the final product.
The choreography was another aspect that improved a lot, take the battle sequence where Cloud is fighting in tunnel against the shadows of Sephiroth, the battle per see is pretty cool and all, but there was one scene where Cloud is basically flying for a good 15 seconds while maintaining his speed together with the bikes in front and behind him, which is ludicrous. Now, back to the game. The chapter 4 fight against Rouge, when Cloud jumps to deal the final blow to Rouge's bike still carried some floaty aspects but it was really brief. Take chapter 18 Motor Ball boss, the final cutscene with Red XIII and Cloud was simply outstanding. The Shinra soldiers getting mauled during the chase sequence was incredible too.
The only aspect the 2005 movie can't be topped is the number of resources they had for the environment and poly count for extra things that can't be done with real-time graphics. Maybe in another 20 to 30 years.
nersoparanaense You do know there’s A 2009 Re-Released of that movie that only came out on Blu-Ray & also yes it was Edited 1000 more times & has a extra half hour extended scenes! Though.. This movie was never released in stores where I’m from... I had to preorder it,, it’s Call: “”Final Fantasy VII Advent Children Complete”” but it being a 2009 released even on Blu-Ray it still feels a little outdated....... might need A UHD Re-Re-Released! & some more work!!

Dang, this player really knows how to fight/play. His fighting is really structured and makes Cloud seem actually really good lol Feel like the rest of gamers just pressing whatever.
That was the first thing I noticed - person playing was actually using a strategy - every other player gettin laid out by every move, meanwhile this one was dodging hits and countering like he was sposed to; almost forgot it was on Hard Mode

As someone who's never played or seen FF7R gameplay before, this was both very badass and funny seeing cloud run around Sephiroth in the beginning like that

Thanks for the tips! Here’s the setup I used and defeated Sephiroth during his “eight” cast. I still had Cloud and Aerith’s Limit left at the end, and 20-40 MP on each hero. Don’t forget to switch Materia and equipment during the cutscene by holding square before the fight begins. All my materia and weapons are pretty much maxed out at this point.

Tips
- Use Ascension when Sephiroth’s stagger bar is low. Once you stagger sephiroth, the damage caps and the fight progresses to another stage. Cloud’s Punisher Mode basic attacks should be enough to progress the fight once Sephiroth is staggered. It was really helpful to begin each fight with 2 ATB.
- Conserve healing until party members are below 4K or so. This fight involves a ton of guarding, anticipating, and reaction so instant healing when low is not always the best solution. The healing carcanet combined with a maxed out pray is around 3K heal for every teammate so that’s a good rule of thumb for when to use pray, especially because Barrett’s ATB charges so fast.
- During Telluric Fury, Counterstance
- During Hell’s Gate, you’ll take 2K to 3K Damage
- Aeolian (he jumps up), dodge
- When you need to heal, wait until after Sephiroth uses and ability. He typically focuses the character that you’re using, so try to heal with an inactive party member (Control cloud and heal with Aerith)
- Switch around party members a lot. This spreads the damage. Casting magnify Regen will heal most of the damage if you’re really good at switching
- Don’t be timid about stockpiling ATB for when you need it. I occasionally had 6 bars of ATB to perfectly time a pray then magnify cure, or awaiting the inevitable death of a 1HP ally to ensure i could instant revive them between Sephiroth abilities. It can be pretty devastating to have a revive cancelled. So many abilities can be canceled that it’s ok to just save it for the right moment
- Use Steel Skin with Barrett immediately when he joins. I don’t know how long this lasts. If Barrett flies up in the air during Sephiroth Aeroga (Air Yoga), then it’s inactive. If you use it every 8 ATB, it’s not bad because with Skill Master it will proctor your allies ATB to recharge as well (Pray, Steel Skin, Focused Shot)
- If you have Carbuncle Summon (DLC), I’d equip it to Barrett. For stage 3 of the fight, giving the party Haste, Barrier, and Manawall (and a magnify curaga/ arise at the end), makes the fight much faster. It’s 100% not necessary, but simply put - you just won’t have the MP or live through all the casts to make this happen otherwise. Definitely definitely not needed, but would probably save 2-3 minutes since you can play really agro during this time and use ATB for damage rather than healing.
I just loved how significant that final part were Zack and Cloud in the alternate timeline passing next to Aerith and Cloud giving me chills!!♡

Theory. Sephiroth and Aerith are from the original events of the PlayStation 1 FF7 and have traveled to a different timeline to change the fate of the original story. Which is why the whispers of fate show up, why Aerith and Sephiroth seem to know more than they give off, and why events of the remake don’t align with the original PS1 title.

That sounds like something someone would say if they underestimated a person in the past. Is Sephiroth talking about the true past events of Nibelheim in the original game or is he talking about the ending of the 1997 game???
Given the supposed timeline fuckery going on with Sephiroth in the Lifestream, probably both.
He definitely remembers previous events because when Tifa joins the fight he comments “oh the memories”.
He doesn't say that. He says unmei ni sakarau da, kuraudo. That means fight fate, Cloud. The US version is deliberately wrong.

I just noticed how 'human' like Sephiroth's patterns are.
In phase 1, usually when he's not doing anything, he's blocking. If he starts taking damage, he'll dodge back or prepares a counter move. Though it's not shown here, if Cloud blocks Tellenic Fury, he'll immediately use Aeolian Onslaught, which is unblockable. In phase 2 I think he does this faster, and if you're stunned by his slashes, he'll immediately use Aeolian Onslaught to combo.
In phase 3 he really often uses magic after using his sword, though not really shown here. Depending on what element he's using, he also has his own 'playstyle', like using ranged attacks more, or using Hell's Gate more often.
It really goes well with what makes Sephiroth a terrifying villain. He looks human, but he really isn't.
They cranked up the animation in this fight...watching your party zip around amidst a sprawling, floating chaos is just amazing to watch.
And that final duel between Cloud & Sephiroth...that sound design was fantastic. They dial back the music a bit so you can just hear the hiss of the metal cutting through the air...and you can tell Cloud is breaking his limit just for this.
He temporarily vanishes for several moments just to show how fast he's going.
...and yet, we're still only getting a taste of what's to come. Fight's just getting started.
Your strategy is awesome, you really studied the battle gameplay. I like how you can dodge and counter Seph's moves. Can't wait to be at this point too.

Except Nomura didn’t write any of these new story changes; and the ones that did were the ones that wrote the original game. Also; in the original game; Nomura was actually the one that told them to tone down some “pure shock value” level story twists at the end that the fanbase wouldn’t have liked; like 3/4 of your party dying by the end. But go off on how everything you don’t like about the new Square is Nomura’s fault; even if he literally isn’t responsible for those decisions lmao. Rent free

They truly did nail this Remake. They gave us exactly what we were all hoping for, at least most of us. I really hope they don't rush the sequels like they've been saying they want to do... I hope they take their sweet time & give us the best damn sequels possible. Even if it's another 5 to 7 years before the next part, I can live with that. Just as long as I have the full story to eventually play in the future. I want it to be good, not a rushed piece of underwhelming crap. Am sure most ppl can agree with that.
When i saw sephiroth and i just knew i was fighting him i got goosebumps
I'll be forever proud of myself for landing an Ascension limit break right when the heroic triumph of the music hit for the first time but he gave one last heartless angel as the Whisper's theme played and Tifa gave one last Curaga to cloud who gave the final blow. All on my first try on hard mode too! ( Which was somehow easier than against the arbiter of fate)
Can't wait till the whole game is out... hope they keep up the good work!

I honestly love what they’re doing. Delivering the original story while also giving us a brand new one. I don’t think the sequel game is gonna delv too far off from the original so I’m all for it. If it means we get moments and battles like this then I say bring it! That moment at 13:50 when Cloud is coming for Sephiroth and you hear the iconic music and violins saying “SEPHIROTH” as Cloud charges at him. Badass.
I dont get why ppl still complain tho. Imagine the remake would be a 1 on 1 remake. It would make certain scenarios end so quickly. They have to stretch it out for realism

I wouldn't mind a different story. But why add destiny, time travel, different dimensions, all that shit that has nothing to do with the original FFVII? Just change the story without adding these bullshit. It completely subvert the original FFVII message, acceptation of death.

@@shinjid3705 Well even if you didn't like that, the original story is a beautiful story written by Sakaguchi, who just lost her mother, about the acceptance of death. Changing it in this way, is not respectful to the original author and his message. Now it is basically a fan fiction, where everyone lives and everyone has an happy ending. So much boring and not profound.

It's usually a death flag. However, if she survived that is the biggest mary-sue horseshit I've seen in recent years and they'll have to explain that one, Biggs too. Also, the fuck happened to Wedge? They made it sound like the Whispers threw his fat-ass out of the window of the Shinra Building.
@@Violent_Wolfen I think the reason Biggs is alive, and hopefully Jessie is too, is that Cloud and the others somehow changed things as they were fighting those whispers and Sephiroth. Just like how it showed Zack surviving and walking away with Cloud at the end. Those whispers are tied to fate, which explains the things they've done, such as saving Barret after he was stabbed by Sephiroth. And I have a gut feeling that Wedge might be alive still will most likely be seen again.
The remake was near-perfection, fuck anyone who says otherwise.

16:12 - I feel the need to point this out: Cloud swings his sword from his right, waits until it almost connects, then immediately switches direction and swings from his left instead, all in the span of less than a second. Sephiroth _still_ blocks it as if he saw it coming a mile away.
Wait if there's a possibility that the timeline changed and that Zack might have survived wouldn't it mean that Cloud in this final scene wouldn't have the buster sword because Zack never died and he couldn't have given it to him yet?

Kao Yang yes in the time line we play in in remake he is dead but in an alternate timeline he is alive you can see it’s different as the picture of stamp is a different breed of dog
