I just bought a 2024 Colorado in part from this video! Seeing it actively used in a city setting was extremely helpful. Thanks for the videos you and Topher do!
This is probably the best review of the 2023 on youtube. Too many reviews have no or a very poor test drive/commute. You covered all the salient ride details others omit. The truck size thing is no joke. I remember small trucks like the mitsubishi. I remember "midsized" trucks used to be much narrower and smaller than the colorado.
14:15 The Trail Boss comes standard with All-Terrain tires. The alternative is a Mud-Terrain tire, which is absolutely worth the $495 upgrade fee! They are strangely quiet for being such a good off-road tire. Great video!
18:42 hahaha "I'm a little worried about this VW Jetta here braking..." I was thinking the same thing, bro. Loved this review. I really think you are a great reviewer! subbed
@willythewhale2235 it's great! Finally got it on the 2nd of January due to a delay with the GM strike, worth the wait though for sure had no issues so far, would highly recommend you do!
For the biggest bang for my buck, I bought me a 2023 Chevy Colorado LT with many options. Sorry Ford Motor Co.. but you just didn't what to deal after my second Ford Ranger XLT purchase. But that's okay, I really like this 2023 Chevy Colorado, for one its wider and the engine is bigger.
The idea of putting a core vehicle function (lights) behind a digital screen where you can’t access them immediately seems like a crazy idea. Although I love a lot of what the vehicle offers I simply can’t get over that design choice. I mean, how much did it really save them? And what did it cost by turning off potential buyers?
Something that idiotic is a deal breaker for me. It makes you wonder what other creative decisions were made under the hood. Even better is the fact that the number one dealer visit issue is electrical and infotainment problems.
Counterpoint, putting headlight controls in the touchscreen discourages people from messing with them and just leaving it on auto, leading to less unintentional driving without your lights on type scenarios. Of course, it's for cost cutting, but I think this is a good unintended effect of that.
In the trail boss you also get a 2 speed transfer case with a great low range. Additionally the G80 auto locking differential in the rear. Two things which are huge in terms of capability. You don’t get those in the WT.
The Canyon Elevation does not have 2 speed transfer case either which is a shame because the interior is a lot nicer than the TB at just a little more money.
I’m going to get me a trail boss I’ve already ordered one. I’m going to put led head lights when they come out , put 34 inch tires, remove the air dam, dip the grill and have the black plastic trim painted.
23:55 mannn you driving here took me back to when i visited a few years ago. this place is my hometown so im glad to see not much has changed about the downtown area since i left. actually lived near campus at the time so the roads look all to familiar lol. the colorado is definitely a bit difficult to drive through those roads though, it seems 😭
I know they are two different vehicles, but which did you like better as the more comfortable daily driver, Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness or Colorado Trail Boss?
Same. I came from a 5.0 f150 that I also loved but the insurance company said it was totaled. I was very impressed with the power to weight ratio and the drive train as a whole. I intend to use this truck at my hunting ranch as it was intended.
On average, how would you rate the amount of noise coming from that 4 banger? Seems most of the videos I've watched on the Trail Boss, the engine sounds buzzy and above normal noise level. I really like the looks of this truck and have priced out the truck with the options that I would want, but that engine noise level just is holding me back. BTW: Can't seem to find one in stock to test drive for myself.
I’ve got the identical truck , with about 5k miles , noise is minimal, driving it , really the only thing you hear is a slight whistle from the turbo and that is with the radio volume down
The engine is not really any more buzzy than any other inline four that I’ve ever dealt with. The turbo is definitely a little louder than most that’s for sure. I have 4,000 miles so far on my trail boss I am enjoying it a lot.
Now that's a minimalist interior done right honestly. Has knobs for climate control so all good by me lol. Display appearing built-in, rather than a glued on afterthought, is also a nice touch from Chevy. Edit: headlight control inside infotainment is the dumbest decision ever. Who okayed that one?
@@elche1976 dumbest justification ever. How much control are we willing to hand over to sensors, just so carmakers can protect idiots from themselves? Even if 95% of people didn't manually adjust their headlights, removing a physical control for it was fucking stupid. And while we're on the topic, maybe more people should consider manually adjusting their headlights instead of running them on hi-beams ALL THE FUCKING TIME.
not that into the truck but I'm real into that color. looks rad. also, I'd gladly trade the screen and tech for some interior materials that don't look like they belong in a sub $20k vehicle.
I love the look of the latest generation of Colorados, but a couple things bother me. A completely digital screen instrument panel looks cool as hell, but not with Chevy having constant software issues. I don’t trust it to last at all. The other problem I have is that everything feels like an extra requiring a package. You need like three package tiers just to get heated seats. This would be my daily driver, so I absolutely want that in the winter. Lastly I’ve seen so many 23/24 Colorado owners say how much they love the truck - but it’s in the shop for the past month. New vehicle with hardly any miles and it’s already in the shop.
2023 here z71 loaded 46k out the door havent been in the shop once 13k miles on it 6500 towing .Just had a software update at the shop while getting an oil change. All trucks car run the risk of an issue and usually thats what you hear on the internet
My 24 Colorado Trailboss does not have the compartment in the tailgate door. I think that's part of the soft open tailgate package because I don't have that either my door is heavy.
Yea I overlooked not having cruise control on mine. It’s part of the same package. But for a brand new truck under 40 in this economy, I’m super happy with it. It’s as powerful as a 20 year old C1500
@@stevep5470 I got the cruise control package with back opening window. No tailgate options though. Must be a different package. Not sure which one. I can go through the build prices again on the website but too damn lazy to. Lol
Ann Arbor trivia....totally unrelated to the Colorado. Ted Bundy visited here in about 1978 for a couple of days after his escape from jail in Glenwood Springs. He watched the Rose Bowl from a college bar, stayed at the YMCA, stole a Toyota and took off for Atlanta where he abandoned it. I wonder if any bar patrons remember him from that night.
Trust me. I’ve never owned a non V8 truck before. I drove this the first time and I was hooked. It’s got plenty of pep and torque to pass just about anything on the road.
19:03 it’s within easy reach on the top of screen,,the little yellow round button,,,how many time are really gonna turn your headlights off anyways,,,me NEVER ,,,,,everyone kept saying you have to look for it in the touchscreen ,but you don’t,,,,my 02 Silverado has no button or switch to turn off the headlights, they stay on,,,why’s everyone crying about this on the new Colorado?
Yes and I will be interested to see how the stoplight grand prix turns out between one of these and my lightweight extended cab 2016 v6 Canyon. I bet it's at least really close.
These trucks are pure garbage. Don’t believe me? Read the reviews, look at the recalls or better yet, take one thru a car wash with high speed blowers. It’s comical how shitty they are.

Great job on review. Really like the city driving and parking structure review. Lets face it 95% of driving is in those scenarios. Awesome
Getting mine built now, all black with the 20in wheels, plus high-output 430lbs of tork
Lucky! How is it man? Is it fun? I wanna trade in my ecoboost for this

I’m a ford guy all the way but the new ranger 24-25 is hideous, I don’t want a truck that looks like the maverick!
in your video you said you had no idea how much you drove or how many MPG it was getting. May I suggest using the trip meter.

There's an icon on the screen for lights. All light functions can be changed just as easy as a button or switch.

so as a daily driver you would recommend? how about for long distance trips? like cross country drives?
I have the WT and I’m very happy with it overall. No complaints to report!
Give it a couple days!
The 2024 is coming with the high output engine & more options. I’d wait for that model.
It’s here. I love it. And I’ve never owned a non v8 vehicle besides the 2500 Cummins I had 2 trucks ago.

Ford needs to update the Ranger. its ancient at this point and the Colorado is so much better
Next year 🤞
People saying the engine sounds bad I actually think it's sounds good for a 4cyl
The car is automatic! Let the shift knob alone, it will not wear as a if it had to be used as a manual gear box for god sake.
Anyway, thumbs up.

Its crazy how large the Colorado is. Even the Ranger too. They're the size their larger counterparts used to be not so long ago.
I still own my 02 Silverado I bought new,,my new Colorado Trail Boss sitting next to it is taller and thicker, but not as wide! I love both my trucks!
