I used a box spring under my mattresses for most of my life. These past 4 years are the only time I have not used a box spring. I agree that it helps extend the life of your mattress by keeping it in better condition. I also used the protective cover as well. I like to try keep items as close to their newness for as long as possible. In addition, it always felt pretty neat to be sleeping so high above the ground! Thanks for my giveaway entry.
Angela based on your experience, ive just bought a regular king size mattress but should i put it on a box spring only? Or apart from the box spring should i put a slatted bed frame at the bottom of the box spring? Cheers

I was curious about using box springs with a foam mattress. I have box springs now because my bed is over 10 years old. I’m interested in the adjustable bases so I’m watching your reviews on them. I think it might help since I have chronic pain. Thanks for the info!
Box springs are pretty much out! I have a slatted frame from Amazon Zinus brand with headboard and I love it! And it was only 180!! Well worth it!

I remember from my old job in hotel business we had to use gel gloss for the bed. Don’t ask me what it was for. I have no idea what it was for. I just remembered housekeepers using that.
I just recently just bought one on a amazing store furniture type and just found out that boxsprings are so much better to sleep with so you don’t have to toss and turn so much. The awesome thing is you get a good night sleep and you feel more supported too I have a bad back and parts of my body, I have an IKEA bed. I hate the IKEA bed. It’s because I’m sleeping on foam then a mattress and then wood planks underneath.

@@bernarddrenzcampbell2757 It not exactly squeaks but you can hear metal settling every so often. But I will say it does make some noise, not at all like old-day spring mattresses. Very muted sound.
The type of bed foundation that I use for my mattress is a slatted frame. Useful info as I'm on the search for a new mattress and bed foundation.

Giveaway: my wife and I both are heavy people and recently purchased the king size Casper Select 12" while it was on sale for $650 from Costco. About 2 weeks in so far and no real complaints other than I feel I am sleeping a bit on the warm side. We had the Zinus 12" Green Tea Memory Foam before the Casper and it lasted about 2 years for us before it started to sag and another year before it was almost unusable. Both rested on a platform base and it hasn't had any issues over the last several years.
Good to know. I use an adjustable base. A box spring would not work for me. 😕

I have a box spring on top of a frame, I had to get a box spring with my mattress to be under warranty.
I use a Platform foundation, it is alot better than a old box spring.

My friends dad works for a bed company and the reason why a lot of times you can never find a boxspring that really have springs in them anymore they removed it and the reason why they removed it because your bed will break down faster so you have to spend money again
