Just some advice. When working on lifted vehicles take off the tires to work on the engine. The amount of time you will save is incredible not to mention the safety of not having to climb up! :-)
Good channel man. I got a 99 tj, just a little 2.5l. While I can use all the engine stuff all your other videos have been killer for me. Keep up the great work man.
So I did a similar thing except I had to due to a piston skirt failure. I basically threw new pistons in, lifters, bearings, etc. Jeep smoothed out a hell of a lot better. The lifters are probs the noise you're hearing, but they are a pain to get to
Hm I’ll have to look into that as well. We wanted to do a process of elimination type deal by starting out with a somewhat easy fix but didn’t cure it. I appreciate you reaching out and telling me what you did for it! That helps us out a lot. Was what you did difficult?
Did you have to turn the engine over by hand so no pressure was being applied to the rocker in order to get the proper torque specs? I replaced my valve cover gasket today and I was able to slightly wiggle the rocker arms when not under load. 109k miles. I did put in Rotella 15w-40 and it really seemed to smooth it out, I wasn’t expecting that. Oil pressure is the same as 10w-30, Arizona summer heat here. Your dads legit. Subscribed
Yeah for sure! My dad and I work for them. He’s a trainer and sales rep for every state east of the Mississippi River. I work with the special events team and travel to shows to promote and sell the products. Shows like SEMA, Barrett Jackson, Goodguys, etc.
Ok, where in the heck did you guys find the full rocker arm sets? I tried for months to find a full set and every place I ordered from would end up cancelling my order as they didn't actually have them. Great content man!
We ordered it through a local parts store to us. Have you tried looking for the set through Carquest? That’s who owns the shop we bought from! And thank you very much🤟🏼
@@BuiltDifferentGarage I tried all the local parts stores like autozone, advanced auto, orielys, ect I also tried multiple online stores but I dont think I ever tried Carquest. I'll give them a try. I was losing coolant for years with no leak so it sat for a while. Started fixing it up last summer and pulled the head to as I figured it had a blown head gasket which it did. I wanted to replace the rockers and push rods but couldn't find a full set of rockers. Hopefully Carquest can help. Thanks again!
For me it’s price…oem style replacement rockers & pivots 100-150 bucks…rollers are nice but at 500 bucks for maybe a 5-6hp increase just doesn’t seem worth it in my opinion….they’re definitely nicer to have does anyone happen to know of a set that’s not astronomical in price look forward to hearing some input
Ls Swap??? When u jeep peeps gonna learn ""It's OVER KILL"" The higher your center of gravity the easier to roll your jeep add the L.S. & You'll go head over heel. Leave it as is. Put the L.S.in the red Chevelle.Just saying most V-8 in Jeep are just HYPE / BRAGGING 👎💯👎
I agree and disagree. The LS platform is great and is not overkill for certain applications. For highway driving and long trips, I would love to have an LS. I daily drive my Jeep. The 4.0 in these things can only help turn 37s so much. And not sure what you mean by red chevelle???

Never even thought about that! Thank you for that advice!
I just let the air out of the fronts at 3 inches of lift.

Thank you very much, I appreciate that!!
I liked this video but YT won’t let it stay liked.. Thank You both for the help. Just about to do the top end of our 98 Cherokee.
No worries! Thank you, glad it helped you!

@@BuiltDifferentGarage with some basic knowledge and people to help, we accomplished the rebuild in a weekend. Tear down took maybe a couple hours
@@matthewthiessen474 ok cool. I’ll definitely have to consider doing that. I appreciate the comment and the help!
Do you have any clips of the sound it was making? Dealing with a 4.0L TJ that is doing it now after a head rebuild...
Like Jeep videos think you’re doing good, would have loved to hear before and after differences in noise for good or bad. Good video
Thanks for the video, I loved it
No problem, glad you liked it!

Nice video you’ll hit 10k before you know it
Thank you!! Appreciate your support
Can I ask about all the Garrots Garage stuff you got? Badass! I use a lot of their stuff as well

could be the lifters. they do go bad :D
That’s what we are thinking!
Why not through in a roller rocker??
Tbh we didn’t think about that! Might have to consider it though. Thank you!

Four times the cost and half the life expectancy...no brainer.
