@@3daypriest I am really concerned with what you've said here. I played rugby union at school, and have played occasionally since (I'm in my 40's, a 150lb beanstalk at 6ft), including the odd "seniors" game.
Get in touch with me by email at (thomas at londonvisa dot co dot uk). I would like to talk about how to make those club games much safer. it's clearly a problem in either the training, the exercise or the umpiring in my opinion, because whilst rugby games are inherently incident prone with cuts, bruises and you'll normally need to have at least one player "glued back up" (these days) or stitched up, you should almost never see accidents like cracked teeth, concussion rates are normally much lower for rugby than high school gridiron rates, and whilst fractures do (occasionally) happen - these should not be the norm).
Please contact me directly. I'd love to discuss with you.
Finally, my eldest son (now 22 odd) who probably weighs about the same as me, whilst being the best part of 6'8" was forced to play rugby at school (he was a book worm). The only serious injury he had, playing for 6 years or so at school, was when he tore half his ear early in a game when he was about 16 y/o. he was sent off the field, We went to the emergency room, had it glued back on in the right place (it looked worse than it was) which took about 10 minutes, once the glue had set, they put a compression bandage on it, and he was back on the field for the 2nd half (having put on a scrum cap) and scored a try. (he may well have then been sent off the pitch to the sin-bin for having allegedly performing an "illegal" tackle on the boy who had been the cause of his injury or something like that.. but I'm sure that the tackle was perfectly legal (says his father)...

They probably had a bad coach teaching them technique if you saw more injuries than football....I grew up playing rugby than transitioned to basketball and came back to play Division 1 men’s club rugby (in the U.S.) and I had easily more injuries on the court than on the field ....Thats probably because I was taught the techniques of tackling, rucking, getting the high balls etc....Probably saved my life too being 6’2 190 lbs on the field and being the skinniest islander on the field 😂😂😂😂

It really does depend what sort of position and kind of player you are. I play 2nds for my local club as inside flanker and I find I score a try almost every game, as I'm one of the bigger forwards but I also have a lot of pace, so I can keep up with most of the back line without any trouble. Thanks to this I get a lot of ball time, hence scoring a try almost every game.

@@DylanBegazo learning to tackle proper..wrapping the legs and driving into the thighs with your shoulder (if you want to be able to tackle anyone no matter the size advantage over you)....practice running and passing keeping your attention on your surroundings is also very important(line drills)... practice picking up the ball at game speed stepping over the ball and forming a strong structure as you pick it up is very important to staying safe and playing. ( i have seen dozens of people get serious injuries picking up the ball) . I played club rugby for 9 years (age 11-20) always with the age group above mine because my birthday was a midway through summer .. it was fun/more competitive to play with the older age groups but I got screwed over every year though for the provincial team cause they wouldn't let me be on the team even after I made the team every year, except once when the coach faked my age lol.
I also was not that built either 5'8"-6' 2" and 120-165lbs.. in all that time I played full back and winger.... I mostly played full back cause my open field tackling ability.. I never got seriously injured once..just few broken fingers, broken nose, and more cuts, scraps and bruises than I can remember😊.
