    I love that loud “thunk” when you really sink a tomahawk in the target. Split a wood target that we’d been using for a while in half. Straight up just grabbed the tomahawk gave it back to the owner and walked away. I was 13 and had only been throwing for about a half hour. Went back later by the time I was done I could hit dead center every time. Cemented my love of throwing knives and tomahawks.

  • @TrikeRoadPoet
    @TrikeRoadPoet 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Just a flick and a spin, and steel becomes whirling edges and a point seeking the target with a whisper of sound so soft and clear it chills the heart. Knife throwing is an art that can challenge you in ways you have yet to learn. Keep practicing, it helps. When we go camping we toss knives to see who loses and washes up, and who will be taking time to enjoy the hammock!

  • @runningdeer2111

    I had a knife in my pocket since I was 2. We used to camp in the glades, Dad would hunt in the day, and frog throughout the night. We didn’t have any electronics back then, so we did a lot of whittling. In fact when I was 3, my Dad whittled me a fairly large straight blade knife, out of wood. It was so cool looking. Back when I went to school you could carry pocket knives, and your gun(s) hung in a rack of your truck on your back window that was in the school parking lot. We had hunting/ gun safety classes which included a section of bow (archery) training. We’d bring our guns (rifles/shotguns) right into school during the classes. I loved the times I grew up in. Love you Josh, keep the videos coming. It sounds like you have a great group of friends.

    My Dad was a US Marine jungle fighter for the entirety of the Second World War.
    Needless to say, he had SKILLS.
    He told the story about bored Marines, in Cuba, who played chicken with their bayonets. AND....
    were always getting bayonets removed from their feet.
    He taught everything he knew about firearms to his sons.
    But, he would NEVER teach us to throw knives, no matter how much we begged and cajoled him.
    He DID teach us how to sharpen them. A dull knife is dangerous.
    So we had to teach ourselves to throw them...……..

    I am definitely a gun nut, I mean enthusiast, but I am amazed at how much money some of my friends spend on knives (crazy thing is, if you live in or travel to a pro-gun state, make sure you know the knife laws because things can get dicey crossing state lines with certain knives). Pretty much all I have is my pocket knife, hunting knife, and a backup pocket knife I keep in the truck.

    • @TheAttacker732
      @TheAttacker732 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      A good fixed blade work/fighting knife can easily reach $100, and that's just a tool steel blade, some kind of sheath, & a no-frills handle. You might get an anti-corrosion finish, you might not.
      There are other steel options, usually more expensive. Some companies offer a German tool steel, which is a minor improvement over your basic A2, D2, 1055, & other basic high carbon or tool steels. There's also high-carbon stainless steels out there, which are a nice combination of properties. These are far more corrosion resistant than carbon steels, while also having far superior edge retention to normal stainless steels.
      Sheaths are a pretty basic affair, either leather or polymer. Probably has a belt loop, might have MOLLE attachments. Handles are similar, either polymer, stacked leather, or sometimes wood. Coatings are, for the most part, many of the same options you might be familiar with in the firearms world, sometimes under proprietary labels, sometimes not. Nitriding, case-hardening, bluing, ceramic coatings, etc.
      And that's just looking at the mass production side, the custom world goes from there and doesn't seem to stop.

      @@stevechristiansen9037 He's talking about circular saw blades. A lot of people call them skillsaws because it's the name of a brand that made them popular, but essentially anything you would find on any table saw, miter saw, handheld circular saw, etc.

    Lol, I had to get VT ready to rent for the 4th & stopped in NH for fireworks 🧨. We have NY sparkler stands at WM but these “would rattle windows”.
    After the sales pitch I was 1/2 shaky & this dude selling them out of a truck trailer whips a one page warning. He reads it all to me “because it’s his responsibility”.
    It turned out awesome but we can talk ourselves out of anything with a warning label 🏷...

    Bruce Leroy, love that one! Only half white and we do have a bunch of knives in the house. Japanese is my other half and they do start training at a young age on how to use and throw different types of blades .I can't count the times I cut myself learning how to work a switch blade .think my uncles just got a kick out of seeing me struggle with it ! LOL PROUD kid at show &tell though. You couldn't do that today but you could then .I really like how your bringing races together with laughter .I still believe in one race the human race! Jesus loves us all ,it's 2019 time to get our heads out our butts and stop the dumb stuff .love more judge less!💖🧠🤝🌞

    I myself learned Russian no spin that uses back heavy knives, screw drivers, sciscors, I even got a bullseye with a fork once because I had a soft target and was curious. Its great fun. I like the speed of the draw and the fact you don't have to calculate rotations.

    I was given my first small Swiss Army pocket knife when I was nine. I've carried a knife on me every day of my life since then.
    I feel naked if I even think about leaving the house without at least one knife on me.

    I have several pistols, and I had the basic rules of firearms lecture EVERY time I got one. Yes, I have a couple of knives, but I don't "do" knives like my son-in-law. But he is a police officer and is used to carrying things I don't. A knife is an essential tool to him. We get a package, he has his knife out to open it before the grand kids ask what's in it.

    I had to pause when u said "nana and nannie"... My mom's mom was my "grandmother" and my Dad's mom was my "Granny"...but when my child came along her grands were her grandmommy and granddaddy and great-grand mommy/daddy...and she also had grandpa and grandma and great-grandma/grandpa...my daughter has always called me MomMom when she is referring to me as a grandparent... Ive never known anybody w/ a nana or nannie... 40something yr old white girl from Miami w/ backwoods roots. Lol. Now Ima finish watching the video...
