Not going to read through the hundreds of comments to see if someone else has posted these three major differences between US football & Rugby League. 1. A forward pass is a no no. Not even slightly forward. 2. You can only tackle the man with the ball. This business of tackling players without the ball is absolutely not on. 3. In order to score a "try" [touchdown] the player must have control of the ball & the ball must actually touch the ground all at the same time. All three, ground, ball & player must be in contact with each other in order for it to be a "try". All of this must be done between the end of the playing field & and the 'dead ball' line, a short distance beyond. There are many other differences of course, but these three stood out in your video.
In England we played bulldog. One person starts in the middle of the field and has to tackle and take people down as they run across the field. Anyone who gets taken down has to also tackle until no one is left running. The last person to get taken down is the winner. Was fun as fuck.
U said respect to the guy who tried to tackle after the "touchdown" cos he didnt need to do that but since a "touchdown" (try) actually means touching the ball down he could still prevent the it
I have watched a few videos about Americans reaction to rugby as I use to play (only AMATEUR) and there are two reason they still try and stop someone even if they are behind the tryline. 1 if you tackle someone behind the tryline and stop them from touching the ball onto the ground it is not a try. 2 after the try you are awarded a "conversion" kick at goal. The kick is taken from a point in line with where the ball was grounded for the try, as near or as far from the goal-line as the kicker desires. the ball is NOT place in the center. the helmets they wear are only made of fabric some player wear them to protect their ears.

The term Soccer comes from Socker. Socker was the British nickname for association football, people either referred to it as Socker or football for short, Americans did the same with American Football and just called it Football for short like we did with association football. The term Socker or soccer to describe the game is older than the use of the term football to describe it as football as we know it today (association football) is not the same as football, it’s what’s known as a code of football, like rugby is a code of football, there are many codes of football. American Football is a code of football, it took its origins from the rugby code though not the association football code, as did rugby league, you can throw Canadian football in there, Aussie rules football in there, Gaelic football too.

A huge difference is NFL you get hit.. Play stops.. Regroup.. Start again. Rugby.. Get smashed.. Get up straight away.. Get smashed again.. Play doesn't stop
My sister married a Rugby player, that was one hell of a wedding, Rugby players are a special breed, gentle giants off the field but man they can drink!
I only came here to see if any of my cousins are on the video 🤣 In Rugby pads are optional, we have the choice of no pads or half an inch of padding that's just pretty much foam, so in reality all it did was make you sweat more 😂
The differences in rules are fairly simple. No tackling anyone who isn't carrying the ball. All tackles should be from behind - no front charging (which is why American football needs shoulder pads). No forward passes. No line-outs or time-outs - play continues immediately. You can kick the ball forward to catch it yourself, and to convert a try into a goal. You should be able to find a Rugby game somewhere in your city or state if you really want to play. The main thing is just learning the team positions, wingers, hookers, backs, and which one will suit you best. That's how there's a line and they all move together, to create a chain of potential pass recievers.
Bruh lemme tell you sumthing. The moment you go outta that damn field. That so called "BEAST MODE"..... it better come out because this game ain't one of those games you play around with Take it from a guy who plays the damn game
Yeah, American Football isn’t even in the Top 10 most popular sports, but when rugby exists that’s not surprising, why would you watch NFL when you could watch Rugby, the game American Football originates from, it’s a no brainer, lol
Comming from south africa growing up playing rugby since 5 years old . You dont understand the intensity until you actually play it yourself . Beast go joun club in US
There are no "plays" in rugby. You learn the rules, you make it up as you go along. You "play" the game in front of you... not from a book of set moves. The name is "rugby football"... you kick the ball as often as you like. You can only pass backward. The ball must touch the ground to score a try. So tackling after the try line is allowed. The helmets are cloth and are there to stop their ears getting torn off. Some of those men are 6ft8 and 20+ stone running 11s 100m, multiple times, in 80 minute games (80 play time with the clock stopped between fouls, penalties and injuries)
There are set plays. Crossed runs, overlaps, missing players in the back line. All plays, pre planned, and called by the drum half. You learn that playing schoolboy rugby...
@@fredyscanlan I played school rugby, district rugby, including 1999 champions, college rugby and RAF rugby.... there were no "plays". There was strategy and playing the field as it came to you. There were certain moves you could employ. But they weren't "plays" they were techniques of how to play the game.
antony aiken ok so in my school we had a play called pigdog for example. Pigdog works by missing out the inside centre, who would then overlap the outside centre giving us an overload if the opposing centres didn’t follow the overlap. We practised it, along with other plays in training, and used it in games when the scrum half called pigdog out as he pulled the call out of the scrum. You may not have used set plays but other people have so they are a part of rugby.
antony aiken amd if you’re UK which I’m guessing you are if you’re RAF, and we would both have been at school in the 90’s if you were playing in ‘99. I played 91-95 I think:)
Rugby is far superior to American football the nfl games average about 12 minutes of actual play how boring and they wear a suit of armour the whole concept is gash
Way too many break downs and stoppages. I wish NFL could have a continuous flow like rugby does. Pick up and play after a player gets knocked down instead of resetting after every tackle made

Thou we learn to play the game from a very young age. Glad to see you are buzzing out on em hits(hard tackles) and busts( bowling em over, fending and side steppings)👍
No Joe - it's shit and gets booed nowadays. Total fucking pantomime that allows the 'humble' All Blacks an unfair psychological advantage. It is supposed to be the AB's issuing a challenge - but if any nation confronts the challenge - they are fined!!! One rule for the All Blacks another for the rest of the world. Go to Twickenham and see the Haka quite rightly drowned out by Swing Low. It's only popular because Buck Shelford brought it back in the 87 WC.
Joe Lucas Depends if you like watching a bunch of big men prance around like dickheads and cry and complain to the IRB if everyone doesn’t watch in awe and clap after. “IF EVERYONE DOESNT WATCH MY HAKA I’M GOING TO SCREAM AND SCREAM UNTIL IM SICK!!” Fuck off, you’re boring.
@Dr Downtime No mate you're wrong. It was reinvented by Shelford at the 87 WC. It's got nothing to do with rugby. It has everything to do with Maori culture. Do it on your own soil where you have YOUR CULTURE. We're not interested in your pantomime. We drown it out at Twickenham. That's our response to your challenge which the IRB have banned anyone from facing. One rule for the Kiwis eh?
@Dr Downtime - yawn. You do not know the game sir. You are detached and in the minority. Disillusioned at best methinks. Thank you for the laugh though.
@Dr Downtime YAAAAAAWN. Bye. Take off your green wellies son and learn the game. Seen your type before. Do not have a clue. Even the All blacks don't want to perform it - they wanted to bin it themselves last year. But you would not know that not being a rugby man eh? Try playing the game sunshine. Get educated.
We were taught in school to go for the legs,. But if you do that at top level, they are quite capable of passing the ball while going down. Tacklers go for the body to try to wrap up both man and ball, maybe even make them drop it forwards (a knock-on and therefore a scrum with turnover of the ball).
Good to see Americans enjoying the gentleman's sport. I played for club and school around the time American football was introduced to our Tv's. Loved it! Pick a classic match to watch. For total carnage, look up the Tuilangi brothers (I think that's how you spell it) they are brutal.
We used to play basketball rugby in school. We called the game riots, because of we always got into trouble for it. There was at least 5 injuries per game, best game I ever played
I'm English and members of my family have been involved in rugby union, rugby league and now American football. We call the game where you hit a ball with a stick rounders and girls play it. My grandson plays American football for an academy near London and will soon be going to America to study and play your football, it's so exciting and he was worried I would miss him too much but I just want him to go out and do stuff. All of this must be done between the end of the playing field & and the 'dead ball' line, a short distance beyond.
There are many other differences of course, but these three stood out in your video.
you were watching rugby union on the video, League is different. for me union is the better game.
This is a real man's game ...no padding no cages around their heads ... N towels tucked in there shart.s .. rugby is a man's game ..🏉🏉🏉🏉
The helmet is a scrum cap! All it does is protect your head during scrums, they are usually made out of some plastic fabric thing
Wrong it's to prevent colliflower ears
We have a similiar game called bull rush or red Rover we played at school. Last person standing had to try make it to the other side. No rules
In England we played bulldog. One person starts in the middle of the field and has to tackle and take people down as they run across the field. Anyone who gets taken down has to also tackle until no one is left running. The last person to get taken down is the winner. Was fun as fuck.
@@TJE.13 the only difference I think is that with yours the winner just wins.
It’s called bulldog full stop
@@evoxrs8889 Come to Gloucestershire and see them ruck.
Jeff Wagner In New Zealand we call it bull rush.
U said respect to the guy who tried to tackle after the "touchdown" cos he didnt need to do that but since a "touchdown" (try) actually means touching the ball down he could still prevent the it
I have watched a few videos about Americans reaction to rugby as I use to play (only AMATEUR)
and there are two reason they still try and stop someone even if they are behind the tryline.
React to rugby biggest hits til i collapse. Seriously good
Dude you are watching both sides of rugby. 1 is RUGBY UNION and the second is RUGBY LEAGUE (which is slightly closer to gridiron)
I hope he knows there are 2 different types of rugby. League and union
League isn’t a sport
@@SR-wg1bb Ha! Rugby Yawnian is boring as hell
woodencreatures league literally is just 5 tackles with a. 50/50 cross kick at the end of it yawn. Rugby union is way more popular around the world so not many people agree with you sorry bud
What a fine and respectful man this guy is. Come to England. We like people with your attitude. Have yourself a splendid day, Sir
I not a sports person but if you were a commentator I would watch it 😂😂😂👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼great video and reaction
Now I wanna see you reacting to soccer LOL
React Brasil please don’t call it soccer🤢
@@jacobmoore1640 I don't like to call it soccer too, but he's American. I just respect the way he knows the sport
nah no puzzy sports on this channel
@@MorenoWanderley No American should respect a sport that is much older Football is Football Rugby is Rugby and American Football is a cheap copy Americans need to no USA is not always the best baseball is also a copy of much older game called Rounders
Believe it or not rugby unions rules r softer than they were originally
I’ve been playing rugby dice I was 8 it’s the best sport
It’s funny that people think American football is hard but rugby is way more hardcore
Breath-taking reaction to the last segment says it all..
Stiff arm to the throat.. "oooooo:
Next second..bang.." o "
I think I'm the only Argentine who watches your videos xd
He called Falou slow.
Is anyone else watching in 2019 and are sad Falou’s gone
no
Gonna miss him! Other countries glad he gone- now Aussies weak #rwc2019
Just a money lusting mercenary who couldnt jump high enough to make the AFL despite being their media bum boy.....goes missing in big games especially on defence at fullback....flys his christian flag like he is better than anyone else(some christian)... and unlike other Christians in the game he mixes religion with sport with ulterior motives to attract attention to himself as a crusader for his congregation.....then sues and pleas for money support from other Christians to fund his crusade...just like the false preachers do to their congregation except folau is using the Christian world...has always been over-paid and over-rated in 3 codes and tell me,who would jeopardise a 4 year contract worth 4 millions dollars then sue for 10 million, greedy cunning bastards,I say!

Yeah, I was wondering how he' would have reacted facing Jona Lomu (miss you Jona!)
A huge difference is NFL you get hit.. Play stops.. Regroup.. Start again. Rugby.. Get smashed.. Get up straight away.. Get smashed again.. Play doesn't stop
My sister married a Rugby player, that was one hell of a wedding, Rugby players are a special breed, gentle giants off the field but man they can drink!
Where all my south African people at🤣🇿🇦❤
Here bro
We are the Champions of the World !! 🇿🇦
lmao yall got crackhead strength, that line cracked me up
They also bout twice the size of NFL players 😂
Nah NFL players are monsters
Nah
Definitely not.
Same height on average, and they weigh 8kg less on average
NFL players run on steroids.
I only came here to see if any of my cousins are on the video 🤣
In Rugby pads are optional, we have the choice of no pads or half an inch of padding that's just pretty much foam, so in reality all it did was make you sweat more 😂
The differences in rules are fairly simple.
That so called "BEAST MODE"..... it better come out because this game ain't one of those games you play around with
Take it from a guy who plays the damn game
Rugby is much more popular around the world than the NFL
But Rugby is gaining popularity in the USA
Yeah, American Football isn’t even in the Top 10 most popular sports, but when rugby exists that’s not surprising, why would you watch NFL when you could watch Rugby, the game American Football originates from, it’s a no brainer, lol
American "Football" is copied from Rugby.
Comming from south africa growing up playing rugby since 5 years old .
You dont understand the intensity until you actually play it yourself .
Beast go joun club in US
"What's the score, 18 to 3..them niggas is getting busted 😂😂subbed dude...
Much love from New Zealand..
Excellent synopsis.
OwO im playing rugby as a girl.💕Best sport
You go girl!!!
Womens rugby is a great team sport!
More power to ya!!
Shame it doesn't get the publicity of footy.

I play rugby, it's one of my favorite sports though. I'm from Cape Town, South Africa. Respect to those who show respect to rugby
Heavy and fast, you need to watch Jonah lomu. He was a 250lb rugby player that could run a 10s 100m, man was a beast

Australia’s biggest and best sport, now go watch foreign football
Rugby is far superior to American football the nfl games average about 12 minutes of actual play how boring and they wear a suit of armour the whole concept is gash
Way too many break downs and stoppages. I wish NFL could have a continuous flow like rugby does. Pick up and play after a player gets knocked down instead of resetting after every tackle made
Khanyiso Booi exactly it’s a very slow paced game
True that nfl boring as shit
Do a reaction to the best rugby player in the world 'Jonah Lomu'

i love your commentary bro!!! im from SA and bro you must try Rugby!!...your commentary is Dope my G!!
Rugby is a real man's game, no padding and no shit taken.
Probably the best game in the world.
Football in Britain is what you Americans call Soccer, another game that Americans can't handle as well.

No this isn't basically football. Football is just a btec rugby

Bro your reactions are so funny. Glad to see you enjoying what weve been enjoying for longtime.
These are mixture of two types of rugby games. Rugby league and rugby union.
Thou we learn to play the game from a very young age.
Glad to see you are buzzing out on em hits(hard tackles) and busts( bowling em over, fending and side steppings)👍
I've had a busy day (I'm a plumber) so now I'm in the bath, I've got a beer and I'm laughing at your reaction @ 6mins+
AWESOME. 😊😊😊
nah bro the fact he said “ rugby is basically american football without pads “ no mate it isn’t lol , there’s much difference lmao stoopid
You should watch New Zealand Rugby Team do 'The Haka' before their rugby matches
Joe Lucas
Depends if you like watching a bunch of big men prance around like dickheads and cry and complain to the IRB if everyone doesn’t watch in awe and clap after.
“IF EVERYONE DOESNT WATCH MY HAKA I’M GOING TO SCREAM AND SCREAM UNTIL IM SICK!!”
Fuck off, you’re boring.
No one likes rugby in England lol
Wetty are taking the piss😂
You find a lot of people do so... Just because you don't like it does not automatically mean everyone dislikes it
Well you probably dont know like.. anyone ?
Well. I do
actually millions of people play and watch rugby in England and England second best team in world after New zealand
Rugby is a worldwide sport. NFL is only in you country bro. Anyway respect. Nice video
If you think this is rough you should watch rugby league, it's mainly played in the north and it's really dirty. Just remember at the end of the day they all have a shower and all have a drink together. It's the game.
Very Cool Man, I'm from New Zealand, Funniest thing I've seen your reaction to our National Sport. Stay Cool young Falla, Peace
I'm sure someone already said this but check out the best of the late great Jonah Lomu. 6 ft 4 , 18 stone and could run 100m metres in 11 secs. LEGEND
RIP Jonas, great player ans sad end . He stay alive in the memory a rugby fan. Like us. Peace.
