    Holy shit Casey, that was a download of information you gave us! No ego and tons of compassion, completely understandable and strung together beautifully. Clearly you know more about vintage cars than most historians. This was maybe your finest video, and I usually like the technical building videos the best. Damn, what a fresh cup of filtered cold water. Amazing!! Thanks!!!

      Hard to choose, it will be between the turbine Lotus and the monster Porsche 917/30 and these old school roadster Indycars are just beautiful.
      Oh and the Lola spider! As a kid had a Fleischmann slotcartrack, with a green and an orange Lola spider

    OMG! almost like having the Goodwood Festival within driving distance. I'll definitely be there next time!
    It's difficult to pick a favorite. Seeing those three Chapparels all together was mind-blowing. Aerodynamically, Jim Hall's cars really were far ahead of their time; his competitors were constantly playing catch-up to his latest innovations. So many details on those cars are still being copied on today's racing machines. Those two AAR Eagles were a prize, too! I always loved the cigar shaped cars with the 'Eagle beak' radiator inlets! The Roman Slobodynskyj '72 Gurney Eagle was an amazing car that dominated Indy for quite a few years. Some were still competing 5, 6, and 7 years later it was such a durable design! That car had to have made Dan rich because it seemed like every USAC team had to buy one just to be competitive.

    • @hilanddoug
      @hilanddoug 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you're within driving distance you really ought to attend the next one! Amazing cars and people, and the amenities were great! Good food, clean restrooms- the place is top notch! And you can get very close to the track in several spots for great viewing. The only place us regular folks weren't allowed to go that you see in the video is on the track at the end where Casey's talking about the Chaparral cars before they take off. The hospitality tent had couches and cushy chairs if you wanted them and there was seating everywhere except the paddock. And pretty much every car there was on the track at some point. Truly an incredible event.

    Brother,
    You have the best attitude I have ever seen in a racer You're on the edge and you're real.
    You get back to M1 Concourse you come by garage 160 I'd love to meet you my friend.
    We were there with our first runs in mello yello just so happens to call
    M1 Concourse it's home track.
    Dude you are an inspiration to me I watched your video tonight about your momentum to race an indie cars and why it died.
    I got to tell you something dude on a night I needed to see it change my life.
    You brought a perspective that was so clear and poignant that I couldn't stop watching your channel everything you do is a tribute to what all of us do together.
    Which is to push it balls to the walls man.
    Dude someday I hope to shake your hand.

    The trouble with that Nissan GTP ar (and newer sports prototypes) is that you have to blow it apart completely between races and xray components for cracks etc, whereas with the birdcage next to it or and old Lotus etc, you can get away with going a season without an overhaul
