    Sony phones have a special charm
    If you use it, you will know the quality of the screen and the purity of the sound of the speakers, and the beauty of the phone’s design And the light weight , all of this magic you will not find in other phones

      Yes, I love their phones. Unfortunately, I did not stick with that one for too long. I am saddened that Sony didn't natively bring the Xperia 5 to the States. I'm a year late, but if you haven't subscribed, a sub to the channel would be greatly appreciated!

    Great review. Hope they get a better chip on the 5 V next year. If the 5 IV got the 8+ Gen 1 it would've been a killer phone this year.

      Yes. That's the only thing that made me say pass and wait for the 5 mark 5 next year, or 1 mark 5.

      Just got the 1iv two days ago, loving it. But now theirs rumors of Xperia 1V coming within four months. So will probably return and wait.

      A agree! Having the 8+ gen 1 in my Zenfone 9 has made it my favorite phone of the year.

    Excellent video. Appreciate your perspective on the 5 IV. I had the 5 III and the IV seems to solve most of the issues I had with the III.

    Sounds like you didn’t buy the U.S. version which would explain your connection issues

    • @followthecable4379
      @followthecable4379  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You are correct on that. After looking online, I saw that the US version supports different bands. I've thought about flashing the US firmware onto the phone, but haven't taken the time to look for it.

    Does it have 5G coverage in USA? On Verizon? On Tmobile?

    • @followthecable4379
      @followthecable4379  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I used it briefly on T-Mobile and it was ok. I can't remember everything, as it was a while ago. Verizon's website says it should work, but make sure you have the version made for the US. It might be possible to flash the appropriate firmware, if you do not have the correct version. If you haven't done so already, a sub to the channel would be greatly appreciated!

      No I did not. I really should have played around with it more before I got rid of it. I think at that point I'd already purchased my Zenfone 9 and it's been hard for me to use anything else besides that. Thanks for the comment (sorry for the late reply)! • @followthecable4379

      It should, but there might be some unsupported bands that could lead to connectivity issues. If you haven't done so already, a sub to the channel would be greatly appreciated!

    I have the global version and you need to access the phone settings where you can shut off DSDS, and then you'll get 5g. Also gotta figure out how to access wifi calling. It's there, you can see it but can't turn it on. Sony says it is up to the carrier but the carrier doesn't have access to the phones root settings

  • @ibphred

    Thanks especially for the comments on signal strength and call quality. If it weren't for that, it would be almost exactly what I want. I guess I'll keep using the Samsung A53 until I find what I really want though even though the headphone adapter is annoying.

    • @followthecable4379
      @followthecable4379  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My issues were probably were most likely the result of me having one of the "international" versions. I can imagine the US version performs better. The Xperia 5 v should be coming out soon though.

      The screen broke on the A53. I got the Xperia today and at least at home, the call quality is excellent. I'll find out more Monday when I go to work.

    I've heard Sony has some OS issues. My plan might be to put a custom ROM on this thing, and then I can guarantee indefinite software support. My biggest concern would be not being able to make full use of the cameras without the Sony OS, but perhaps there is some good open source camera apps that can do the same.

    • @followthecable4379
      @followthecable4379  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good luck! I hope that all work out for you. I'm going to step back from buying their phones. Yes, I could put a custom ROM on it with the hopes of extended software support, but they really need to do a better job of supporting the phone longer natively. Also, with the Xperia 5 v seemingly not coming to the US, and the issues I've had with connectivity using the international versions of phones, I going to pass. I've sold the Xperia 5 iv and Xperia 5 iii.If you haven't done so, a sub to the channel would be greatly appreciated!

      @@followthecable4379 For sure, great review by the way! I think my biggest concern with this phone is the reception not being good. I've heard the 5 V is better, but since you mentioned international versions don't always work well in the states, I am a bit hesitant.
      Really I am looking for a phone with a pretty good chipset, headphone jack, sd card, and eSIM. Hard to find this nowadays :(

    I have an Experia "XA1 Plus", which is a few years old. Good phone, but the camera is the WORST camera I have ever had (my iPhone SE has the best camera).
    I was/am thinking of getting a "5 IV", but I am reading about that (over)heating issue, which makes me doubt...
