    • @TiaandAndy
      @TiaandAndy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ooh! i don't think it's shown here, but we some times dig a hole in the ground, put potatoes (wrapped in foil), cover with a thin layer of dirt, and put ambers on top. this VERY slowly cooks the potatoes until it's 100% perfect.
      I'll take like... 7 hours to cook but it's perfect if you're lounging by the fire all day and just want dinner to be ready to go. This works great with yams too!
      be very careful with this method though. make sure you're taking all the fire safety precautions (have a fire ring, watch the fire etc).

    Oh that chicken YUMMM. When you say prepare in advance, how do you pack that for the trip? Are you freezing those chicken pieces again after prep, or leaving them cold in the cooler?

    • @TiaandAndy
      @TiaandAndy  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Both ways are good options :) We usually prep the day before we leave so we just put them in the fridge and then into the cooler with ice. If you know you wont be eating the chicken until further into your camping trip though, then throwing it into the freezer prior to leaving is a good option too, that way it holds (and also acts as an ice pack until it defrosts!)

    Thank you.

    • @TiaandAndy
      @TiaandAndy  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey John, the brand of cook stove we use is called Etekcity. I've included amazon affiliate links down below for quick reference. Note, if you do decide to purchase using our link, we'll get a small commission at no cost to yourself.
      The amount of butane used is a bit of a loaded question. Usually, you measure this by "boils". for us, a full big green butane tank will last us 35 boils for 500mL of water.
      For quick reference, on the smallest (230g) canister should be able to get you through approximate 4 days of travel at 2 boils a day (500mL of water per boil).
      Hope that helps!

    At breakfast, fry the bacon first and use the grease for potatoes and eggs.

    Just my recommendation, cook the bacon first, then the taters in the bacon grease, and the eggs last. I think you will have a better eating experience.

      This is probably the #1 recommendation we have! But we’re weirdos who don’t like the bacon grease in our food. Lol

      In a cooler with ice! And the food that doesn't need to stay cold is put in a cardboard box.

    Your thumbnail shows toast, but there’s no toast in your recipes. What’s up with that? I only decided to watch because I was curious how you made toast at camp.

    • @TiaandAndy
      @TiaandAndy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was nothing special, we just toast it in our pan. But great point, we'll make sure to include it in our next camping meals video!

    ALWAYS cook bacon first. Just look at all the flavored grease you got to cook your eggs or taters in.

    • @TiaandAndy
      @TiaandAndy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ahh we actually find it a bit too greasy if we use all the grease. But you’re definitely right about the flavour!

    How do you store the meats??

    • @TiaandAndy
      @TiaandAndy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We typically use a cooler with ice and drain/change out the ice each day. However, with our van life series we upgraded to an electric cooler that we are able to plug into our van/portable power bank.

    • @TiaandAndy
      @TiaandAndy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For the meals you will eat later into your camping trip, you can freeze them. That way they stay fresh and can also double to keep your non frozen food cold. Then as it defrosts you can cook it. You could also consider choosing recipes or food options that are non perishable (things like pasta, rice, beans, etc.).
