I go through a lot of internal ups and downs , struggles , insecurities from the past that now come up in my personal relationship and David Deida’s words really calms me and puts things into perspective . In my point of view, things start to change when you put in the effort into changing who you are today for the person you want to be in five or ten more years. Although to make that change happen you have to focus on self-improvement the right way. Lots of time when we focus to much on self-improvement and the future we start doing things the wrong way. That's when anxiety and depression occurs. Change is a slow process we have to take step by step because there is no such thing as jumping to the top we all have to climb the latter to get to success. I'm twenty-one I know I have a long way to go before I can achieve my version of success. I wish the best for all of you. Thanks Hafeez for always keeping it real with us.

Thank you. Well said! I'm gonna check out more of your videos. I feel there is a vacuum of black men speaking about healthy masculinity, and I know I need to hear more from black men for my own personal development. I'm grateful to all the men I learn from and the men's groups I belong to, but they're lacking the black voice, the African voice. And, hey, maybe I'll help fill that void when the time is right, but right now I need my own cup filled. So once again, thank you 🙏🏾💪🏾

  • @CurtSummers

I agree masculine energy needs to be embraced and cultivated, especially in this era where it’s demonized and classified as toxic even when healthy.
I also understand the concept of wearing a suit to garner more respect from other men, but I’m of the mindset that true masculinity shines regardless of attire, and it also isn’t so concerned with what other men or women think.
Not to say you should walk around looking unkempt. But if you want to dress up super nice, do it for you, not hoping to gain respect. That’s similar to simping and seeking validation from women. Posturing.
At the end of the day, like Feez said, it’s about confidence. Which comes from competence and experience. Fellas, learn to love YOU, and build up the person you are at the core, don’t work so hard to fit some archetype of what a man should be.
Because true masculinity only needs that validation from self/the most high.

Complaining emasculates a man. It indicates there is a problem & he is helpless to solve it. It turns him into a weak powerless victim. A man either solves his problems or accepts grace that nothing can be done, and get backs to work.

Anime characters and fictional tv and movies characters are the masculine ideals? They’re not real people. They’re imaginary ideals. The only “real” “man” shown was JayZ and, ironically, JayZ is a prototypical “bad boy” which is also spoken against.
    This is the problem.
You’re setting yourself up against an illusion.
Real life masculine men are flawed, they’re normal and mundane and they do ordinary things. They’re not superhero cartoon creations, movie creations or mobsters or drug dealers in gangs trying to stay one step away from prison. Let’s not glamorize it or appeal to the need for an adrenaline rush of what true masculinity is. It’s everday male character being extraordinary while doing the ordinary.

Vegeta and Sasuke were depicted as flawed in their respective animes. The authors did well to show how their "masculine" traits (confidence, drive, goal etc.) Could be bad when taken to the extremes.
In addition they were nowhere near perfect. Both ended being terrible fathers, husbands and friends. Super powers have nothing to do with this.
All this to say that theres nothing wrong with using those examples cuz they're just as flawed as regular people.

I would argue that Vegeta has a masculine avatar than masculine energy. He's very insecure and always living in Goku's shadow. "Curse you Kakarott, ALWAYS one step ahead!"
Piccolo is a masculine energy because he is wise. He knows what he is capable of and what he isn't. Remember, confidence is being at peace with your floor, ceiling and the space one has controlled in between. This is a huge reason why he shifted from warrior to mentor, because he was better suited to it.
Vegeta could never accept his ceiling and always ended up on the floor. He was selfish, not a team player, and miserable for it. (Until the end of the series, that is)

Really hope The Witcher TV show gains popularity. I'm a big fan of the books and yes, he kills easily, sleeps with anything that moves and drinks the entire bar, but most importantly, he earned his virtues. He earned his perspective of the world, gruelingly so, yet he still works to make adjustments in himself for the people he cares about. Plus, watching this monster of a man devolve into pure dad mode with Ciri is painfully adorable!

I didn’t know that a form of entertainment with Japanese origin that has literal adult themes and mountains of examples of bravery and violence is feminine.

my guy is talking about masculine energy and explaining it through anime examples. ouch. No hate, but to me that sounds counter-intuitive.

Art is representative of anything and everything. It could also be said ogling other men being physically active (like watching the Patriots) while not being physically active yourself is the antithesis of masculine energy. An anime analogy to a fictional character is not inherently feminine or masculine, it’s just an objective/subjective take on something to foster ideas or discussion of ideas. Darth Vader is for instance a strong masculine presence gone rogue, i.e. too much anger, too much lack of emotional control despite being disciplined, forward thinking and brave. It’s simply not more feminine to make a simple comparison.

I remember that show having the longest 5 minutes ever.
It was when a meteor was going to strike the planet "in 5 minutes" and it lasted for about 100 episodes.
I couldn't take that show seriously after that.
