    I needle felted a cute witch hat to look like a moss covered log and I think it's just so cute! Kind of like fall cottagecore? This was a pretty quick project, definitely recommend for needle felting beginners because I too am a needle felting beginner.

    It's like a working woman's witchy hat. Gets the point across without getting in the way. A ribbon with long tails floating in the back could be cute too~

    The antlers debate reminds me of the time my mom and I tried to put antlers on our Christmas tree (we used to go all out and our tree theme that year was “woodland creatures”) We tried it out and it looked ridiculous. It was the moment we coined the phrase “putting antlers on it” which sorta means “taking something too far” 😅
    Anyway I’m in the middle of my own witch hat project and yours is so cute!

    I noticed the wool for the needle felting you used was very combed and all fibers going in one direction. I have needle felted with this kind of wool too. But at the store i found wool specifically for needle felting, and it is much more coarse (idk how to spell that word) and the fibres go in more random directions, this kind of wool i found is easier to needle felt with especially on to a surface. I think the combed/smooth wool is perfect for the wet felting where you have to like lay it down in overlaping directions.
    hope that helps anyone!

    • @moth.faerie
      @moth.faerie  ปีที่แล้ว

    It came out beautifully. Well done. The small touch of adding the bow at the back... mm. The moss details are lovely.
    Good for you for having a raffle. Much fun.
    I'm getting back to my dolman sleeve shirt. It had to sit there for a few days while I, hopefully, have figured out how the collar attaches. We will see. I think I have the beginnings of a design for my Foundations Revealed competition for a coat.
    In other news, our home will have a parade and flyby happening on Monday. The church across the street, the one where we got married, is about to host the national memorial ceremony for the Queen. Side effect of living in the capital of the country...

      @moth.faerie  ปีที่แล้ว

      thank you! slow progress is still progress so totally counts 😊 I can't wait to see everyone's foundations revealed entries! what are you thinking of for design? that's interesting about the parade, it hasn't really been huge news here outside of the internet as far as I can tell

      @stevezytveld6585 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@moth.faerie Slow progress is still progress. Aye, Lass.
      For my FR I'm looking at doing a winter coat with embroidery on (at minimum) the back panel. I've discovered Schiaparelli, so I'm going to riff off of her and the 30's in general. The embroidery design is in the very early stages. I'm going for 'winter' as the general theme.
      I wouldn't expect Ottawa's thing for the Queen to make the news. At the most, you'll catch a glimpse as the national news broadcast summarizes the memorials around the world. It's just interesting to watch the rehearsals and to see some of the behind the scenes.

    • @moth.faerie
      @moth.faerie  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@stevezytveld6585 oh sorry I meant the Queen generally hasn't been much of a thing here except the first announcement! But maybe I just don't pay attention haha. That sounds lovely for your coat! I'm very excited to see it 😊

    • @stevezytveld6585
      @stevezytveld6585 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@moth.faerie Honestly, it's been pretty subdued around here for the Queen. We're just watching the various levels of police run their playbook - there's and RCMP drone hanging around in eyesight of my window. There are also the usual snippers chewing on their sandwiches. Welcome to the capital.
      Makes me wish they were paying this much attention during the Feb trucker occupation... we lost an entire month. But hold a ceremony for a foreign monarch and they are all over it. Because, priorities?
      As for the coat - I'm hoping I have enough light yellow wool in my stash (thank you Kon Marie - I found it at Value Village). Fingers crossed, it will be a perfect background to see the embroidery (and, if I've got the time, beading) details...

    I don't have a lot of needle felting experience, but it is not so much about how hard you punch as how much. The more you felt, the tighter it will get and smaller too. Also, a different barb style might help. I think since more thickness and texture in your moss might also be fun. It is a cute hat.

    Where did you get your wool fabric?

  • @illfayted
    @illfayted ปีที่แล้ว

    I wonder if you roughed up some of the fibers on your felt base before you felted on top of it,(maybe by brushing it with a wire brush?🤷🏼‍♀️ ) if that would help your new felting stick, because then they might tangle together and lock it in more. (note: I haven't tried it myself, so this is entirely theoretical)
