Such gorgeous bracers! I am now tempted to make a set of fall bracers…like green bracer and then make the leaves like multiple colors…like reds and oranges and yellow and green like beginning leaf change

These are stunning! I recently made a set of leather bracers for archery, I'm tempted to go back and add a leaf detail to them now! I spiral laced mine so that I could get them on and off by myself - you only need the one free hand, that way.

I love how its just "specific tools are very specific!" when it comes to leather working haha

I usually don't like asmr, but the leathercrafting asmr is so peaceful. This is such a cool project to watch!

I think the great thing about these bracers is how versitile they'll be even outside of this character/outfit! Congrats on more beautifully creative work! 💚

Excited to see all of the many things you end up doing with your leatherworking skills. One of these days I would like to create some armor based of a D&D character or something along those lines, but I have yet to start my leatherworking journey. For now I just admire everyone else's work.
As per usual, amazing work on the bracers! Thank you for sharing your process.

These are beautiful. I love the tooling on the leaves and I thought the stitching along the centre looked great.

it looks like you're sewing with a single needle so you might want to look up how to do a jump stitch, which is a bit easier and better for leather. corter leather has a video called "saddle stitching leather without a stitching pony" all about how to do it
but it's also possible you are already doing a jump stitch with the second needle held in your supporting hand and I just can't tell cause it's a short clip. sorry if I'm just telling you info you already know.

These are so cool. At first, when you started coating the leather with sth that made it a little darker brown, I thought you were going to make them two-toned. That actually could look good if you ever decide to do sth similar with a more autumnal vibe :)

I thought about doing them two toned but figured for my first time working with an actual color dye I should pace myself haha

I know everyone is giving you self lacing bracer advise but I’ll give my 2c as well - I have much longer laces which I pull tight and then hold one side with the hand the bracer is on while tying a knot around it, then tuck the extra in around my arm! I don’t like how a bow flops around so this worked well for me with the laces my bracers came with.

The bracers came out lovely. Would it make a difference if the bow on the lacing ended beside your wrist? Getting tied in and out of one clothing is a conundrum. Have I given you Tissoleather Leathercraft to check out - he works in eastern Ukraine.
The costume just gets better and better. Love how it's become so additive. The possibilities are almost endless.
I've finally finished up my first dolman sleeve shirt. Next is a 50's blouse with bishop sleeves and the most amazing cuffs. I need the sleeve practice. After that's done I'll be starting on my Foundations Revealed entry - a yellow wool coat from the 1930's with a repurposed fur collar and a take on a Schiaparelli design.

thank you! oh maybe that would help, Ill try lacing it the opposite direction. and I don't remember, but I'll look him up! Yay for finishing your project! The 50s blouse sounds very cute, and so does the wool coat, good luck!!

@@moth.faerie Thanks. I have to doublecheck my yardage. My fallback position is a 1940's cloak with a repurposed fur collar (I've had this vintage coat for years and it's not in a state where it can be repaired, so this is _finally_ the project). November is for finalizing the twall, December is real fabric and a whole bunch of pad stitching. The goal is to be done by January so I have the time to futz about with photography.
Hey, small suggestion, for your next pair of braces you could tool the background as well. Either a basketweave punch or a series of flowers?

They are definitely very nice! All in all a great learning experience! Maybe you could use a dark brown thread or a natural color when working with the green stain?

These are beautiful!!!! If you don’t mind, what is that one tool that you used to burnish the back? I’m new and I haven’t seen that done before.
