Nespresso Vertuo Plus by Breville - My review

  • Thanks for watching my video.
I received the machine as I was part of the Amazon Vine program. The Nespresso is made by several makers but the unit I have is clearly marked "made by Breville."
This 13 minute clip is my review of the Nespresso Vertuo Plus coffee machine. This machine allows you to become your own "professional" barista and finally be able to prepare the type of quality drinks you normally spend $4 - $6 or more at your local coffee house.
*UPDATE REGARDING PROGRAMMING* It is a simple process as depends on the Nespresso coffee capsule you will use, as there are different sizes. So, the machine recognizes the amount of water based on the capsule. Should you require more water you simply hold down the green (on) button to obtain your desired water level or strength of coffee.

Great video Mr. Thomas. But I must mentioned that the small capsules are for "Espresso"and the large capsules are for Cappuccino, Latte, Americano etc. That's why you had the overflow. You did put a Espresso cup with a big capsule. The capsules have "bar codes" in order for the machine to know how much water to pour. Happy New Year.

Johnny thanks for watching video. Yes, the video was produced during the early release of the machine and I learned the distinctions about the capsules and put a disclaimer.

For the regular latte I used 2%. However, for the egg nogg latte I used premium egg nogg (thicker) and the results were outstanding.

You are a gentleman,, I gave you a bad comment and you gave me a thank-you. Bonus points to you and not so good for me. I should know better, usually I practice the motto, “If you can’t say anything nice, then don’t say anything at all’’. No excuses for me, I apologize and will remove my negative comment.
I told my wife I wanted to get one, and she told me that I already have two coffee making products and this would be my third. So, she was giving me a hard time and then there was the costs involved. I currently use a Keurig, and somebody said that these machines make a way better cup of coffee than the machine I have does. My wife does not drink coffee so it is a luxury only I enjoy.
So trying to find a video of the machine I found your site and the rest is history. The issues I have is that...
I already own two coffee makers and recently paid a lot for the Keurig. The cost of the machine you are demonstrating is more expensive than what I own and also the pods are way more costly. I get 100 of mine at Costco for about $45.00 making it about $0.45 per serving. I drink about two to three a day. I could buy one, and probably will end up doing so, but I’ll get a little Hell for it.
I appreciate your video, I was just in a mood when I watched it because it’s priced way more than I want to pay in the long run. You only live once, so I will spring for it...we all have our vices....some people can live with Folger’s Coffee, but it’s not for me. I like great beans, my favorite are from the Big Island, and I have visited the
Coffee Makers there and Kona Coffee is my favorite. In Italy, they had excellent Espresso...they have it down like an form of Art.
    Thanks...
    Dave

David - again, thanks for your comments. They are critical because it allows viewers to read various perspectives. Like you I own/use several machines. I have noticed the prices have come down as once in awhile I have seen "daily specials." For me, the machine is a great alternative in making quality beverages.

It’s not “by Breville” Breville did not design or have anything to do with the machine. The reason their name is on it, is because Breville distributes the vertuo machine to stores. If you go to a Nespresso boutique you will not find the Breville name on the machine, same goes for Delonghi. Just wanted to mention that, because a lot of people think they designed it. Only nespresso designed and implemented the centrifusion technology.

2JoneH - First of all thanks for watching video. Also, your comments are deeply appreciated. I know Nespresso markets the machine, however I did not purchase from one of their retail outlets. I received the item as part of the Amazon Vine program and they clearly indicated ...."made by Breville." Perhaps, they made a mistake? Here is their description ......"Nespresso VertuoPlus Deluxe Coffee and Espresso Machine Bundle with Aeroccino Milk Frother by Breville"

    • @fredthomasiii4576
      @fredthomasiii4576  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Hi Gerard - thanks for watching video. This machine has specific capsules and depending on what you are brewing they may be deeper but the diameter is the same. To your question, I don't know about other machines but I am sure one must be on the market. One more point, as for "bigger" capsules you can also manually add another cycle to produce more product. Hope this makes sense.

Sorry but this is a bad review for first use you could’ve run the clean cycle first to flush out anything in the water line like your descaling the machine then you proceed to regular operation or brew . And the cup you used is small thats why it overflows remember there’s like 4 sizes of pods for this model. Just helping out 😊

I've just bought one..thanks for showing how to get more water into the cup after the first brewed action.I find the coffee smooth compared to the standard original capsule.People say it's more bitter but i cannot taste bitterness it just tastes nice and smooth with flavour though i had a bit of milk in mine. The unit is very slick in action (smooth) my only downside is with the 400ml size capsule there is only two strengths which is a shame but i GUESS you can use more water in the 200ml capsule to get the 400ml cup size.

Got my machine for Christmas 2017. Best coffee. Really liked everything about how this makes coffee, until......it started pouring 75% of the cup. Descaled, cleaned endlessly, blew pod after pod. Customer service tried to help. Maker started to fail and none of the coffee was drinkable. Machine might be too complex for it's own good. Not very sturdy machine.
We used it daily 2-3 times. Taking it back to Bed, Bath and Beyond for an exchange. I would not buy this particular Nespresso machine again.

Great video! The bar codes under the capsules tell the machine how much water to add to each drink. I'm afraid that you had too small of a cup for the first brew. I noticed that you had a small cup for a capsule that was meant to be 7.7 oz caps and that particular cup is meant for the 1.35oz capsules. Besides that, great video and I'm sure by now you've figured out that is states on the sides of the capsule packaging what size cup you should expect to get from each of the individual caps. Keep up the excellent videos!!!

Great video Fred, I enjoyed watching it and was very informative. You have a good style of presentation that does not come across as too flash or arrogant and easy to watch/listen to. My girlfriend is a big time lover of coffee and after a bit of indecision I have decided to finally buy her a coffee machine as a Christmas present, just don't tell her lol. I used to work for Cafe Nero as a Barista so was always telling my girlfriend about how coffee machines should not be the pod types. Anyway after watching your review and reading a bunch of information I can see that pod machines have come along a lot since I used to sell endless coffees. I have decided therefore to buy this machine from Nespresso even though I imagine I will still end up making endless coffees, at least my girlfriend will do some of the work too now that she will soon have a new toy to play with.

Hello Ella - first of all thanks for watching video and leaving comment. Regarding your question you adjust the strength based on which pod you use. There are 3 sizes, so obviously the larger pod will hold more (stronger) coffee. One other tip....you can keep purchasing pods as you use them but I purchase my own espresso as if you are careful you can refill and reuse the pod.
