It is all a cash grab. It forces people to get new computers, and buy new versions of the programs that you enjoy/rely on. You have to find, and often re-buy, the new version because they erased your old programs/games claiming they are not compatible with the new windows (and it sucks if the program, or game, you rely on is old and there is no way you can find a new compatible version). It was not always like this, and I remember a time you can very possibly put old programs/games on new versions of windows, but Windows found that they were losing money, so they made ways to force you to pay more.

Disconnecting the machine from the internet i can very much understand. I am having difficulty thinking of the reason for why you should not have external storage connected... Is it a matter of true isolation so no infected files come onto the machine?
Lets assume that i have a computer with all current stored wifi connections blasted, and for good measure i have disabled wifi from the registry. Then lets say i have some media assets i want to use in lets say editing that i want transferd over to the machine from a windows 11 laptop, and a finished product i want to bring back to have the laptop upload. If the fear is infected files, apart from bricking the machine and the information on it, what is the danger of connecting an external storage device? Forcing the machine to connect to the wifi so that it can transfer information, or be used as part of a botnet?
The way things are going i am thinking of either taking a machine offline, or upgrading to linux and learn those systems. Just figured i'd ask the collective their thoughts, seeing as if i can have no external storage movement what so ever then i have a mighty heavy task of essencially creating an archival tomb, give up or move on.
Reguardless, i thank you for the information allready shared!

Antivirus & Malware protection will not protect an out dated Security and un-patched computer. Linux Zorin 17.2 OS Core is your answer. Linux Mint or ZorinOS or Ubuntu PopOs or Kubuntu or or or .... So many excellent options available if you only accept that windows is no longer the best for you. Once that is accepted, options tend to show themselves. Is it pain free? NO, but you dont need to be an IT guy either. Accept the inevitable and you will see a bright future in alternatives that DO exist.
Finally, Wubuntu is a very very BAD option- that is a so blatant copy of windows that it's an armchair litigation away form stopping to exist and you have to start from scratch...
