Julie did you know silica beads can be re-used? To reactivate, spread the moisture-laden beads thinly on a baking sheet and place them in an oven preheated to 79.4°C for 15 minutes. This process drives out the absorbed moisture, restoring the desiccant's drying capabilities. Must be gratifying to have redone the room and be able to continue to preserve the documents.

Julie, you most certainly do. I would love to meet you both someday. Maybe you could host a Distant Cousin Reunion? ❤😄💫🌎🌟
Great job Julie on preserving those ancient pieces of clothing for generations to come. Luke, I loved your tour of working components, including your fascinating chip boiler. Percy is a legend, I didn't know tortoises could move so fast, he's a lively chap. Raymond is a real gem, Mapperton wouldn't run so smoothly without him.
@mappertonlive Hi it’s Jake! Thank you so much again for the shoutout! Julie you did a fantastic job with the packing! I’m so interested in court dress and vintage men’s fashion and I’m currently in the works of reinventing my own TH-cam channel and making a series about these types of garments and I’ll say your channel is a huge inspiration to me! Keep up the amazing work all around Mapperton and beyond. Cheers! - Jake
We need a day in the life of Raymond (sp) video with a bit of his backstory. Does he live in the estate, is he part of a multigenerational family of folks employed in the estate?
Think of this. If such an estate is not really something you own, but something you preserve for the future, it's pretty much Raymond's estate at least as much as anybody else's. Sorry, got a little socialist there. 😅
The infrastructure that supports the estate is fascinating. I agree with the suggestions of an episode on Raymond’s “backstory “ and his role as clerk of the works. He’s a gem!
@@28105wsking I'm not sure if a tortoise would care about a pond. A bigger pen...very likely. The tortoises I have known liked to trek around quite a bit.
Regarding Percy's enclosure: as you have to rebuild the fence, may I suggest inserting a couple of sections with windows to allow toddlers to see Percy face to face.
I love that history is being preserved for future generations. Many families of aristocratic origin are related to the royal ones. I'm happy this is the case with you.
WOW! Really cool family history find with the document on relation to the Royal Family! Also, great find on the court dress and associated parts, with description from Jake. Such a great find!
If I’m not mistaken, that Indian military knife is called a “kukri”. When I met Phoolan Devi’s bandit gang in Bihar, their leader was wearing a beautiful kukri. at his belt like that. But of course its highly likely the Montagu family do have blood and wedding links with royalty. I totally get your excitement at all your archive supplies. Preserving weapons and armor is a whole skill in itself. I have no doubt she could do a good job with a little training from an expert, which would also be a good episode! 😄
Poor turtle is going crazy running circles, they are water creatures not land and is being kept on dry land, no wonder its water compass wants to escape that boarded prison.

I would recommend this for all staff who handles the archives. Thank you.
