As someone interested in getting into 5e, this is awesome content

The Dungeon Dudes are by far and away my favorite D&D TH-camrs!! They have some many videos on things like class guides and character creation.
I've been watching them for years, I cannot recommend them enough! They got me into 5E with their vids and Dungeons of Drakkenheim campaign!
You should watch their full campaign called Dungeons of Drakkenheim.
I started playing d&d because of the dungeon dudes, 5e seems pretty awesome. Would you recommend trying 3.5 or any of the other previous editions?
@@heartsanime9294 I have only played 3.5 and 5e but 5e is easier on the math and book keeping for the game and there is generous healing. They made 5e a lot simpler than previous versions but 3.5 had so many different options to explore with your characters abilities. It's also a lot easier to die in 3.5 some people see that as a challenge and some as a detriment to fun. So it depends on your temperament
Jill's costume with the light inside the collar is fab. I'd forgotten how expressive Jill's face is.
It is great to see the return of the Ratlings; yes, yes, yes?
The negotiation with the Ratlings appears to be what happens when the entire party seems to have used CHA as their dump stat. :D
The Bacon Merchants' voices remind me of someone; it is Radar O'Reilly from M.A.S.H.?

I can't help but scream at the screen whenever the adventurers try to do anything other than kill the ratlings on sight. I know that's super meta, but the drakenforce created such a disaster trying to use them in the first campaign.
And for the record, I loved every second of it!

This dude is selling cursed meat to would-be adventurers that eat it and turn into pigs while they are in the city. They are then rounded up, butchered and resold to other adventurers. Genius

Finally had the moment when Monty said you should have an advantage on the initiative roll at 2nd and I was like Nooope! gotcha, it's 7th Feral Instinct! (one of my barbarians just hit 7 this week so I may have had an advantage on that knowledge check).
I'm glad to see you're featuring entirely new subclasses from Tasha's. It's much easier to wrap my head around any subclass once I've seen it actually used.
Technical bit on crossbows -- you draw them first, then put in a bolt. It's the reverse of what you'd do with a bow, because they have an indefinite hold time and bows don't (at least not until compound bows get invented).
Monty is a much more lenient/generous GM than I am used to seeing, and it's refreshing :) Cheers to this block!

Don't mean to be a rules lawyer, but small creatures can't use a longbow as it has the heavy property

@@alexanderthompson7164 I fully agree it can be house ruled against, but dont forget a Longbow is 6' (1.8m) long. I struggle to picture the Kobold ranger (small 2'3"-2'9") using a longbow over twice his size; it doesn't seem realistic (I know its a fantasy setting with many unrealistic things). I suspect my view is influnced by baggage brought over from previous editions of D&D and other games. It came up when I ran ToA, I had a player create a Grung ranger using D&D beyond; and I don't think the software picked it up (was over a year ago and myself don't use it).

So, basicaly in Drakkenheim "you are what you eat"... Love that.
Shrins spear it has an transmutation enchantment air to stone (not quiet) Though the spear is enchanted the stones it flings as though from a sling are mundane (due to an enchantment error).
I love Quinn's Background! Really sells the Drakkenheim setting!

wow - those level 4 encounters have been so difficult in Drakkenheim! The costumes were just as awesome as the players. Little sad that Monty cannot choose a costume, given that he plays so many different individuals at once? Otherwise, surely everyone is waiting for the Rat Prince costume.

Awesome to see Jill back, and Monty's NPCs are awesome, as always. I could visualize the "can we buy your pig" kids simply by the way he voiced them. Great episode, as always!
If I'd had to perform those characters, I probably would have used the "Hi, I'm Larry, this is my brother Daryl, and this is my other brother Daryl" voice and mannerisms.
I hope they improve that virtual weapon thing she's doing, it looks very cool when it works but seems very glitchy.
Looks cardboard to me... The issue was her green screen software picking it up due to its reflective paint.
@@roonbare2769 The compositing software was having problems with her hair and with the spaces between her fingers as well. Reflective paint may not be helping, but I don't think that was the root of the problem. I wonder if maybe there isn't enough light on the green screen and the compositor is getting confused.

It was so very nice to see Monty as a PC, but he really belongs in the DM chair. Always Archmage of Conjuration while describing scenes and people. Loved the Tweedle twins. We have all had conversations with someone where they would not take no for an answer.
Kelly, for someone who helped create the world in and around Drakkenheim, your RP skills are such I believed Mr. Apollo did not know about meteor rocks for a moment. Talent!
Battles, adventuring, interactions... everything is so enjoyable... every episode. Such fun!
Fucking Rufus the voracious glutton filled with oblivious compassion and fun. I love this character so much game me good laughs. Also you guys are rocking those costumes! Especially the actual glowing elements in Jill's outfit that was really cool

Great group of characters. Very entertaining. Also the DM’s microphone is not muffled like in the dungeons Drakenheim.
Hey Monty have you thought of using the dynamic lighting and player vision features? Kinda fun limiting the player vision to only what their token can see.
Dungeon dudes should have made the list better than Critcrab. They are extremely informative and entertaining.

How is this Barbarian’s AC 18? She isn’t using a shield... and she’s level 4... that’s the AC one would have wearing Fullplate...
Barbarians add both DexMod and ConMod to their AC.
Monty's custom array for stats let's you start with potential an 18, 16, 14 as your highest ability scores, assuming 18 is strength that's.
10+3+2 for unarmoured defence
Even with a +2 for a shield that's only 17 (and she's not using a shield).
But she said "thank God for feats" when she was attacked by a bunch of slings and all but one missed. I'm not sure what feat, but she could have medium armour master.
Though barbarians can still rage wearing medium armour (in fact at low levels you are almost always better off wearing armour as a barb)
She's possibly wearing half plate with medium armour master to get (15 + 3) AC

Anybody know about when the next shadows of drak episode is gonna come out? "Break during the holidays" is all I remember them saying when I watched it
Shadows of Drakkenheim will be returning in early April.
It wasn't just a break for the holidays, it was so that Jill could get used to her newborn Halfling! I have 4 myself and it takes awhile to adjust to their schedules.
I specifically remember break for the holidays being said. I said that's all I remember being said from the 2 something months ago when I watched it but that's besides the point it's not a big deal just asked when it was coming back and yes kids are alot of work especially newborn cry machines
Why are you guys dressed like bad steam punk furries? I'm not saying it's bad. It's just different. I started playing DnD when it was chainmail. I've never dressed up to play dnd and frankly I'm not a huge fan of 5e. But I love that your passionate.
