Why I LOVE Selling Books for Profit on eBay and Books to Keep an Eye Out For and Why!

  • I love selling books. It was my love for them that got me started taking eBay seriously. At the time I did not have a lot of money for stock (still don't!) and by making sure I chose carefully I was able to make profit selling them. I'm not talking massive dollars but enough to help me pay bills etc. I hope this video helps you out with some ideas of how to assist in your own selling journey flipping the things you love and enjoy.

    That's why i stock $10-15 videos, craft patterns & books. If I'm already going to the post office with items making me $20+ i love adding in a few $6-10 ones to top up the funds. Easy to list, easy to post. What's not to love!

    What packaging from Aus post do you buy to send your books? I’m unsure between the rigid or padded bags! Do you switch up bags if you were to send a cookbook hardcover vs slim dr Seuss?
    It would be an interesting video idea to pack some eBay orders, from notifications of sold to post office drop off! Loving your vids, keep up the good work! 😊

      100% I switch up. The hard cardboard mailers are great for most books, the bigger books I rock a satchel but wrap the book

    I used to do this about 15 years ago when I was a teenager. Made my money by selling old video games or toys I found for dirt cheap in the op shops because that's what I was into. Seems like it's still a good side hustle

      Its a lot of fun. I started because I was between jobs and also publish my novels. The side hustle is now a little bit less than half my income (which is not substantial) but still it is amazing and I have multiple books out thanks to it.

    I’m happy even with a $3 profit. It all adds up. It’s about more than just the money too. It’s fun finding books in dark op shop corners and rehoming them 😄 I’d be a hopeless full time bookseller though (I sell mostly my handmade things). Half the books I bring home go on my own "I’ll sell those once I’ve read them " shelf 🙃..so in about 5 years haha.

    I find that it works well for my Skylander listings as a buyer can cap the postage.

    I sold Little Golden Books on eBay for years but found that sales for them dropped out dramatically so I sold them at cost price just to recover my money..so are they selling again now? The last search I did recently was that there was over 16,000 LGBs for sale (global) but only selling about 15 each day. How many LGB's do you sell each week?

    • @geelong-flipper
      @geelong-flipper  19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I find that certain title sell better than others. The majority of my golden books even the ones I’m selling with from my personal collection. As I find better quality ones, I sell the ones that aren’t quite as good making sure to take photographs of course. Popular ones like the Muppetsor Sesame Street do really well. I’ve sold multiple of the monster at the end of this book.

    I don't think this is good advice. Those books are so common, nearly 6000 dr seuss listings currently, probably thousands more if I changed the search words. Duck Tales has no sold comps but quite a few listed. Golden books are the same. Too much competition. I used to sell them myself but found unless they are vintage and/or rare, you're better off bundling together. Dr Seuss boxed sets & hardcovers do okay. Goosebumps yes, I think they are doing well, they certainly sell at the markets. Why do you charge $8 for postage? I'd be pretty peed off if a seller charged me that much when you can protect with plastic wrap and cardboard and send in an envelope? I'm talking about thinner, smaller books like LGB's & paperback dr seuss. Isn't that postage excessive? Maybe I'm out of touch with AP pricing, haven't sold online for years

    • @geelong-flipper
      @geelong-flipper  21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Sorry to add to the reply, you might not have seen some of my other videos, but I do emphasize how heavily tracking is important. Have a look at the scamming video I posted. Australia post charges more than eight dollars for the envelope. I send Books in, it’s a hard cardboard envelope with tracking

    • @CovidConQuitTheCensorship
      @CovidConQuitTheCensorship 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@geelong-flipper I read they recently put the price up on those tracked envelopes but why bothet with tracking when those books are so easy to replace. Scammers aren't usually after dr seuss books lol To be clear, I'm referring specifically to letter post for individual books. Just refund if they say they don't receive it and add 20c onto every sale to cover the rare occasion it will happen. Scammers are a huge problem, but they usually target electronics, computers, phones, gaming stuff. $8 is insanely expensive for sending a Little Golden Book. In response to condition, a mint condition book will still sit unsold if there is no demand for it
