They lost everything. The last three standing at the end of the film on the railway platform. Her eyes beseeching him to step into the future with her and the child. And he, finally agreeing. After all the violence and loss, a new beginning. On my list as the best Western film ever made.
„Don't look back, my friend. Go in a good way. A part of me dies with you.“ This. Movie. Is. Something. Else! So many beautiful shots, so many great lines, masterfully crafted music and great acting. One of the best movies!
This movie caught me completely off guard. I started crying out off nowhere when I understood the message the movie conveys so beautifully: that we are all the same, but sometimes we can't help but see only that which makes us different. Once we make an effort to treat each other as individuals not as members of a group, though, we can see clearly who we are as a whole once again.
On the flip side which it conveys to is everyone is brutal and morally gray. Nobody was really "good". It was just about hard people willing to forgive each other. But they most certainly still disliked each other.
But see, that is called EGALITARIAN BULLSHIT. We are tribal and always will be. To fight human nature is to become anti-human, and I will not tolerate it.
That is what I try to do silently every day...Considering others as unique personalities. And having respect for everybody.I don't ask for recognition. I do it because it is the thing to do and what everybody should do. The world would be a better place if people stopped comparing each others...The individual is stronger than the group, that's what I always believed in. But we need to live in harmony in society.
I will never understand why this movie did not earn a single Oscar / Academy Award for its story, acting, and music? This movie touches the heart on so many different levels of every human emotion.

So so as the film goes. 'As becomes evident early on, the real, inward journey depicted in the film is the one where Blocker recovers his humanity by learning to grant the Indians theirs. This is a worthy theme and dramatic premise but it’s only partly, and rather unsatisfactorily, realized. While Blocker’s gradual change of heart-which eventually includes the first flickers of romantic interest in Mrs. Quaid-comes across thanks to Bale’s strong performance, the film’s biggest flaw lies in how underwritten the Indian parts are. Though the venerable Wes Studi is a commanding presence and fine actor, his character is given very little shading or dimension, and the other Indians are allowed practically none.' The failed theme of most American Westerns. Few if any replicate Soldier Blue or Little Big Man or Black Robe(Canadian).

Incredible movie- the violence is immediate and real. There is no better movie that portrays forgiveness and peace.
chisrian bale best actor alive
Brilliant actor
He made the Batman come alive again! I’ve never been disappointed with any movie he has ever been in! My all time favorite actor to ever walk this earth!
@@jamesmarshalla8565 me too
A very unappreciated film! I found it to be brilliant, from top to bottom! Including the outstanding musical score!
Wow, sehr toller Film !
"My life's blood continued to flow on, but my pain only grew!!"
Masterpiece... thumbs up. Hats off...
Love it, well done ....
Thanks for this. I'm a big fan of Max Richter, but hadn't previously listened to any of this soundtrack. I enjoyed it a lot and have just ordered the CD 😊
😊
Insanity how this movie is not talked about more, the entire freaking cast was A Listers
Probably my favorite film about Reconstruction America.
perfection

Utterly beautiful. If anyone reads this comment, just know I am struggling and need a bit of help.
6:51 melts my heart
Underrated
if it wasn't for movies and cenima, we would never hear these pieces of art
Go to 15:04, take a sit, put on some headphones.
Close your eyes and just think of something sad that've been happening recently, what ever it could be about yourself, your family or Covid-19, the humanity or just the planet in general.
How we humans are destroying the planet.
"Never Goodbye" makes me think of the bad stuff that've happened and are happening.
Max Richter is truly one of my favorite music composer. He really makes our ears orgasm by the way he have built up his songs.
There is nothing more elegant as nothing.
