  • In this walk through / how to guide, we will replace the fans in a PowerColor Radeon RX6600 Fighter graphics card. I will show how to do this as quickly and easily as possible, and provide some important tips on what to do when buying the fans.

      From time to time, I have seen them on Ebay, but I ordered some from AliExpress for this. I would check that you pick up the T129215BU part number fans, as there are plenty of fans there that claim to fit the Fighter card, but have different electrical specs. I don't know if it was just the sensitivity on my card, but when I tested it with slightly different fans which drew higher ampage, the card and fans worked but crashed under a stress test. These fans in particular can be hard to find, and the experience of dealing with AliExpress isn't really one I would strongly recommend, I have sent a lot of things back when I looked at the quality.
      Again, check all the dimensions and cable lengths if you can. Good luck!

    I need to take out the front cover (shroud) if i need to clean the fans. Right? Or i can take out the fans only?

    • @sometechguy
      @sometechguy  ปีที่แล้ว

      On this card, the fans are secured inside the shroud. So it has to come off to remove the fans. However, you can clean the fans effectively without removing the fans. I have used a cotton bud for the underside, and you can use this or a micro fibre cloth for the top side using alcohol like isopropanol.

    How long is the warranty on this card?

      From memory, the Powercolor cards don’t come with the best, I think maybe 2 years. But best to check their site.

    good video, but please also tell that this is an opportunity for basic cleaning (the shround was pretty dirty)

      Thank you, but yes cleaning the heat sink, fans and shroud is way simpler when its off. 👍

    Hello!
    Do you know dimensions of balls bearing or part number for T129215 BU? 693ZZ?

    • @sometechguy
      @sometechguy  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, I am afraid I have not disassembled the fan itself. And I don't know if it would be possible to replace the ball bearings in the unit. Sorry I can't help more on that. 🤔

    Im not using zero rpm will this decrease my fan life by a lot?

    • @sometechguy
      @sometechguy  ปีที่แล้ว

      Running fans at constant speed isn’t a bad thing, stop start is probably going to wear them out faster. But generally the life of fans is good, so I wouldn’t expect any special issues. It’s also good for thermals and it can take time for the fans to respond to temp spikes.

    i just bought this graphic card secondhand for 1 month, then suddenly my fans start squeaking. i ask the seller for solutions, he said that i can apply some wd-40 to the fan bearings. is it possible? thanks

    • @sometechguy
      @sometechguy  หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, almost certainly not. The fans are usually sealed units, though some you can open them up and there is a small well where you can add a drop of oil, usually something like sewing machine oil. They are not so easy to open though, and there is a chance you struggle to get them back together again. But I think the answer is probably no.

    Which fan did you buy?

      I had problems finding a fan for this, I found one on Ali Express but it doesn't seem to be available right now. I found one that claims to be a replacement, but it came with two separate fans which while physically looked the same they had a 0.57A rated and not a 0.50 Rating. This caused me some instability on my card, which I can't really be sure was due to the change in the power draw, or some sensitivity in my unit. Having replaced them again with 0.50A rated fans, the card was completely stable.
      So short answer, sorry I don't have a link. But maybe the fan that claims to be a replacement is fine, but if you get any odd freezing or crashing, then return them. I could reproduce that problem quickly by running a stress test using the Adrenaline software provided by AMD.

      To all the guys who wanna use a fan with 0.57 A. Dont do this it will break your graphic card.

    • @sometechguy
      @sometechguy  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Many of the fans that claim to match this card that are available, look to be the 0.57A versions, and the cable layout is different also, but can be made to work with some fairly simple modification. But I didn't have a good experience with my experiment with the 0.57A fans and removed them. My card has no further issues when reverted to the 0.5A ones. @kingcutlet, was yours a similar experience, or you have some solid info on this doing serious damage? It would be good to know if they can cause terminal damage.

      @@sometechguy Most replacement fans that I find in AliExpress currently are 0.5A for about 8€ each pair, will order a couple right now as one of the original is faulty and I don't want to have my rig on hold for 1 month because of a gpu fan being on warranty.
