    *This keeps full control of the WHEEL! One of the key skills to hitting driver linger but also not loosing control!*

    I'm 71 and like many of us hackers, the driver has always been my nemesis - always hated it. Until I tried what you're suggesting. I now place my feet no more than 2 clubhead width apart and slightly flare my lead foot. Now, nearly every strike it straight and about as far as I can possibly hit it as my age. Straight is king. This is no longer a drill, it IS my swing.

      Setting up with the driver club head about 6 to 8 in h behinde the ball helped me cure my slice i hated the driver for years one simple change of position instantly stopped the slice i live the driver now and can not wait to get her out 250-260 carry and absolutely love it i can hot the ball with my eyes closed now aswell aslonh as i set up correctly first with the ub head 6 to 8 inch behinde the ball and just launch her

    Been playing golf for many years. My old high school coach would have us all do this drill. I remember a kid on our team adapted it as his swing as it worked so well. I had completely forgotten about it….as I am now 68! So yesterday, I’m playing horribly and was desperate and for some reason on the 14th hole remembered it. So on the tee box I placed my feet together and hit a beautiful drive! Finished the round this way with a complete turnaround in my swing! Got home all excited and googled feet together drill. Found this video and you confirmed my thoughts! Just subscribed. I feel this really coordinated my arms and hands as the leaders of my swing and not the body..club head speed much faster and crisp hitting through the ball. I feel like a kid at Christmas. Playing later today and excited for results.

    I went to my local golf store to get fitted for new clubs because I am 73 and can't hit the ball very far anymore. After 1-1/2 hours of trying the fit me he brought over their Pro teacher because we could not figure out how to fit the club. I was hitting the toe 100% of the time and topping the ball many times. He watched me for a couple minutes and had me move my feet about 2 feet closer together, I hit the center of the club and hit the 7 iron 155 years. I normally hit it 100 yards and top the ball 30% of the time. We decided I needed lessons before I get new clubs. I told him I felt like my feet were basically standing together. Your video perfectly explains my problem.

    This actually helps your contact and follow through to keep it on a straight line through the ball - For the high handicap golfer with a wide stand who swings approx 90mph, it will drop you down to about 80 / 85 mph but contact and follow throgh will actually give you about a 25 yard gain on your driver as will not be coming across the ball. Will also stop those duffs / slices, duck hooks and skyballs. Oh and you will stop those power leaks before striking the ball.

    • @TheBasstead1
      @TheBasstead1 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Don't give up on your swing speed. You have to learn the new release point for your new stance. Figure this out and you will be swinging just as fast if not faster. Closing your stance probably has you releasing too far past the ball. You must now release the club sooner. Use a golf impact bag to learn your new release point. New release point is hitting slightly up at contact.

Thanks Alex, a great tip that gave me instant improvement.

  • @ericehrnsberger8298
    @ericehrnsberger8298 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    This is crazy awesome. I will def give this a try my next trip to the range. I feel when I swing the drive, my body, sways, leans and turns way to fast which leaves the club behind me causing slice. This technique makes so much sense cause I see that it keeps your body from losing control as I seen to do. Thanks again Alex, your the best!

    • @TheBasstead1
      @TheBasstead1 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No. You are leaving the club behind you, but you are casting from the club not staying with your upper body, causing you to swing outside in, producing your slice. It is physically impossible to swing on plane if your right shoulder gets too far ahead of your hands.

  • @saltyolive_
    @saltyolive_ 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    i actually discovery it by accident as i was struggling with my drivers all the time. then one day i decided to be more upright stance and feet much closer even slightly closer than on my irons for my driver and it forced me to "rotate" . and i did not even had to swing too hard. my drives were consistent 200-210m ( total) and days when the star aligns 240m :D i am swinging only around 91-96mph . That said it really help me so much to hit my driver straighter. some days when bad habits creep in i always go back to the basics of that drill.. seeing this video validates what i am doing. thank you for sharing this awesome tip.

    The summer that I improved my swing the most - I had joined a driving range. Since I could hit all the balls I wanted, I "experimented" with drills. I actually did this - swinging driver with feet touching - and was shocked that it would solidly improve accuracy (though I did lose some distance). I did end up altering my driver stance to being more like my old 5 iron stance (feet only about 15 inches apart. I have since gone back to almost 30 inches - but am going to try this again. I'm 62 years old, and I realize I will probably turn better with my feet closer together.

    I never had thought about hitting em driver with small stance before.. i usually hit my short irons with small stance before going normal shoulder wide stance to make all my iron shot (wedges to 5 iron) more consistence because i wanna feel the swing arc correctly.. i didn't realized i could do the same theory for the driver like that.. thanks a lot mate.. imma definitely try that at em range today to get the proper feel and arc swing for my driver so i would not sway or go over the top with my driver.. very valuable insight indeed 👍👍👍

    As someone who is 54 years old and had both hips replaced, I found this naturally as I needed more rotation and using a wide, more standard driver stance, wasn’t working for me…In my 20s and 30s before I had my hips replaced, using the normal driver stance, I was driving in the 215-225 range…nowadays, I’m hitting it in the 250-265 range with a club head speed of 100mph…I definitely make much better contact, more consistently…

    so i somehow lost the abilty to hit nice drives/chips of the tee after not playing for a week (weirdly enough i chipped and putted better) but was very annoyed the most fun part of the game wasnt working out, i fixed it with the mindset of the club going under through instead of over, like you mentioned in your video. this helped hitting it flush again and straight, now to work on the distance to get all it back together.

    Tiger said get the fuck off TH-cam, so glad I ignored that advice because this is gold for me, I've been on the range before and totally nailed it...thank you 👏

    This is a good drill, feet together drill.

    I followed Zack Johnson (Open/Masters winner) for a round. I couldn't believe how close his feet were together for every shot. I mean CLOSE. I'm going to give it a go.

    Shane Lowry has a very narrow stance for all shots

    Dang it... and I was just getting the swing tip where you start with stage 1 and just a tee and no backswing, now I gotta work this into it too (sarcasm), haha...
    I'm assuming that both can used to help and they aren't mutually exclusive tips?

    if you kink your forward knee {kink not bend] you automatically have the weight forward and that helps you controll your swing to be consistently accurate
