      @@FlyinMiataVideo 2 questions..if my carpet is pretty dirty should I clean it before installing the boom mat and sound deadening or is it water proof. Second question the old sound deadening was glue to the carpet should I do the same?

    • @FlyinMiataVideo

      @@nolahahnshouse3389 We'd definitely clean your carpets first, the insulation itself is not water proof. The Boom Mat self-adheres to the metal of the car, but the insulation does not need any sort of glue or adhesive.

      @@FlyinMiataVideo sweet! Will be ordering them this week.. do you think that I can use any leftover boom stripping for the doors? Or will it need a matt of it's own?

    This kit really works! Well designed, plush padding and easy to install. Massive difference.

    Wanted to add that tucking the tunnel pieces up under the carpet was relatively easy. The method described in the vid went smooth. Miatas can be frustrating cars but this was not one of those frustrations. I found the reinstall of the rear deck plastic clips harder by far. 20 year old clips, that weren't great from the beginning, compounded by the extra fluff of the system make lining up and securing the clips a bit of a struggle. Finally, I thought all the clips on the deck/seat-back were the same size/kind when removing... nope. I have no idea which ones go where and made my best guess. I broke or lost 3 clips allow the way. The holes low on the seat back are missing clips.. ... All said and done. I'm pleased with the result... thanks

    I did it. It went really well. I bought a few extra pieces of boom mat and insulation off Amazon and added a few extra pieces of boom mat. Also was able to do the trunk with boom mat and the insulation. I know it doesn't require a thorough job but it really wasn't much more money. I didn't use any of the 6x6 pieces. The smallest I went was 6x12. I like it. Haven't driven with it yet but I already like it. I suggest you do it with a roll bar install. My parcel shelf carpet doesn't fit as good where I cut for the roll bar. I did this with the frame rails and glad I did. I covered all the frame rail holes with it to help with water proofing.

    Do y'all have a kit for the Fiat 124 yet? I've noticed not only the resonance in the rear floor pan, but a LOT of heat on the trans tunnel on longer trips. I don't have seat warmers, but I definitely have a right leg warmer.

      @@raulcferraz okay, so just got back from a daily commute to work and back. It's a significant difference, especially at low rpm, but not quiet as you might have hoped. I'm super satisfied, as it's a lot better and just makes the car feel more premium and solid in a way. Maybe I'll add back the rubber pieces that were behind the carpet as well, since they just fell off 😅
      Also, if you're thinking of installing it in hot weather, make sure to put the DEI boommat in the fridge or something to help release the backing off the adhesive. It was very stuck at first.
      All in all, not too difficult, just time consuming install as I took my time. Spent a whole day on it. Have the whole package, so door- and chassis dampening and insulation kit.
      Let me know if you have any other questions!

    I have a 1992 that is a seasonal car (roughly mid-March through mid-November in Connecticut). I would like to remove the original carpet underlayment, and I am more concerned with road noise than heat. I understand that the insulation and Boom Mat kit are intended to work together. However, if I were to choose between either the insulation kit or the Boom Mat kit, which would you recommend?

    • @FlyinMiataVideo
      @FlyinMiataVideo  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you are just focused on tire or "road" noise, the insulation might be more beneficial. The Boom Mat is intended to soften vibrations and harshness, so if you have vibration noise coming through the cabin, then the Boom Mat will help that. Feel free to reach out to our customer service department at supposrt@flyinmiata.com if you need more details!
