Something to note about flying backwards, when you first learn this and try to fly normally, you may find that you can't or it feels hard for some reason, this is natural, your brain for some reason is trying to use the backward controls for normal flying, so just spend some time flying back and fourth between the goals like normal to correct this.
The fact you put thought into it and made it so everyone could practice not just " go do rings" shows what a great content creator you really are! Keep up the good work and can't wait to give this a shot! Might even try your button layout.
@@dc_maru Nobody’s trying to refute that fact, op was just saying that it’s nice to see someone make an aerial control video that’s all inclusive (for example, this video is really helpful for me, who plays console)
As a Diamond 2 trying to reach champ, the exercises involving flying backwards and/or without air roll around the edges really showed to me what I was lacking in the air, as I had little to no use for those mechanics in a competitive game. Usually, the mechanics I already had covered up what I needed to actually learn. Thank you so much Thanovic!
@@theguywhoasked6104 I’m champ 1 div 3 in 2s and div 1 in 3s, I can’t even control my car how he was is the video. If you practice this you’ll be in champ easily
This is probably one of the best videos on the topic. I’ve been playing for maybe 4-5 months, made it to diamond 2 in under 300 hours and could hit basic aerials, dribbles, flicks, and stuff like that, but struggled with anything in the air that wasn’t a basic aerial. It was starting to impact my games a lot, even with pretty good positioning and game sense, so In the last few weeks I’ve been using these same drills and my air control is SOO much better. I went from not being able to air dribble, to being able to air dribble with air roll and without, very consistently.
Flying around the Pillars map in freeplay is also a great way to practice. Just fly in a figure-8 pattern forward, backward, or with a spin. It's actually quite difficult and helped me a lot.
A big tip people don’t take seriously is the fact your boost is what moves almost 75% of your car the input from the analog stick is what twists the car than the timing of boost is what makes you move that direction, practice focusing on your boost when your flying goal to goal it will help you better control your cars angle and better your aerial control to eventually get better with the ball
I'm glad you keep catering to all audiences, especially the beginners that will start the game and always be looking for a recent video. I'm kinda surprised you dropped the pillars map advice, it is truly what got be better at air control and directional air roll !
i know this is a year ago but this actually helped so much, i went from not being able to aerial from the wall at all to being able to do it, now i can also airroll when going for aerials
Thank you a lot, I've been in stuck switching from platinum and diamond and my car control in the air was really lacking, after trying this i can easily say this helps a lot and i will continue doing this little routine every time i get on and impove, thanks again.
Awesome tutorial, just what I needed! I'm a KBM player and recently switched controls, so I airroll with mouse buttons, bringing my skill from c2 to d2. Even with alot of practise, I just couldn't hit balls very well in the air, as I used to. The video made me realize, that flying backwards makes me struggle alot in the moment. So that's what i'll practise. Thanks!
Thank you! Really cool, just before 8 minutes you say it might be boring. That describes my third visit to SkyVenture, an indoor wind tunnel. I chose a point on the wall, and decided to try to keep my body motionless in front of it. That money was well spent! The fourth, and further, times I was able to spin around, shoot up, shoot down and bounce my chest off the wire grid floor, man it was fun. That was in Florida. Boring in order to fly is worth it! :) Thanks again.
Well done, and thanks. It's easy to take for granted the free tips and forget the amount of time that goes into creating the content as well as the time in training. Keep up the great work.
Yo bro these vids are class. I recently made the move from kbm to controller and I've been struggling to get most mechanics down. Hopped onto the training pack and now im hitting shots i never hit on kbm. Thanovic the goat fr ❤

I will just say after about 15 mins of boosting around the field in the air in reverse it made me feel so good in the air. Its like I now have so much more control while going up for aerials! Don't sleep on these simple drills. They are so effective. Time to train DAR now.
HUGE rip that helped me. When ur flying backwards think of it like ur direction stick is controlling the tail end of the car and when ur flying forward ur controlling the nose. Wen from not being able to get a corner backwards to doing 5 laps w o messing up

What I don’t understand are the small adjustments with the L stick when watching you adjust while air rolling I see you doing full circles with your L stick. I guess I’m stuck on knowing when and how to adjust while air rolling. Because in free play it’s so unnatural
This helped me out so much I’m currently Silver 2 devision 1 But can air dribble and now have better car control. Edit: I’m silver because I can’t be bothered doing comp

I think I know what you mean. I press X then adjust the angle of my car and then push X and O together and I always thought I was doing a fast aerial. I later learned that I wasn't doing it right but since it's working for me I probably won't learn the proper way until I really have to
fast aerials are good for when you're racing somebody else to the ball, but otherwise you should usually save your flip to get better power on your shot if you can
@@Marco_The_Person alright! Yeah i’m holding boost from the beginning with my first jump. Even when i just want do to a single jump and do a flip to shoot afterwards

I think we currently have an air roll epidemic in RL. People think they have to glue down air roll because they see pros and TH-camrs do it. I see a lot of players in ranked that could be really good but end up playing bad because they are spinning the second they leave the ground. In most cases this serves no purpose and you can almost always get to the ball faster and get a more accurate touch just flying straight to the ball.

Everything else is default (circle boost,) I recent rebinded power slide to r1 and like the change. After I watched a couple vids to see what the best controls are I moved my air roll right to L2 per zen video, and it’s fine but makes the half flip more complicated. The main air roll directional on square would be fine, but not using boost on circle and on r1 Is a way crazy change than the power slide one. Should I just fight trough?
I like the video. But while almost everything is explaining how to actually get to the next step, I find that the part where you start air rolling is a but short. Seems a little like „yeah, hold air roll and push the stick how ever you like, you’ll get it eventually“ and without even saying that. Would’ve loved more explaining on how to get there since that seems to be one of the hardest parts. All the other parts are clearly explained.
