Just make sure you destroy every clay pot you can possibly see, and I think you can pull off the true roleplaying aspect to this character. Diving into Link for Legend of Zelda
A he should definitely be a fighter B he would be better against fiends since HIS MAIN ENEMY IS THE DEMON KING! C if fighter seems too average for the hero of hyrule then do paladin the way the master sword glows is very similar to how i would imagine divine smite lol D he could even be an artificier he could make himself a bag of holding to fit his arsenal of weapons and then get the radiant weapon infusion and make the master sword and then multiclass as a fighter lol
I would say instead of going with Favored Enemy you should go with Favored Foe, Link fights a wide variety of creature types and this would help with all creature types and save on a spell with Hunter's Mark. However if you do decide to go with Favored Enemy, Beast is not the type you should choose, instead take Monstrosity, the vast majority of creatures Link fights are Monstrosities. Good Video nonetheless
I understand the whole Favored Foe vs Favored Enemy idea, but I did want to replicate the "Lock on targeting" feature from Orcarina of Time, and you usually only get that from the actual spell (even though the tracking isn't a one-to-one comparison). While I like the fact that the feature doesn't require a spell slot, it does still require concentration, and does less damage at early levels, so unless you really need to use that spell slot elsewhere, and plan to do a lot of casting, I tend to lean toward the classic Hunter Mark spell. But that's just personal preference. And I agree with you about changing to Monstrosity, I realized it a bit too late in the editing process and thought "Damn... that would have been a better choice"
That's totally a solid way to go. I definitely see plenty of elves and non-elves mingling in the games so definitely a good choice if you want sleepy Link
I will say... the Master Sword being the only weapon that can banish evil really feels like Holy Avenger Longsword, requiring at least 1 level in Paladin, which makes sense for Link. His deity could be Hylia from SS as She made the Goddess Sword which is later upgraded to become the Master Sword, or Farore as Link is the bearer of Her Triforce of Courage and Her flame is 1 of the 3 flames required to upgrade the Goddess Sword into the Master Sword.
Link could be a series on his own think about all the different interpretations of him throughout the games. Breath of the wild: he's foraging for items, weapons and food. That's a ranger Skyward sword he harnesses the power of the goddess in the skyward sword and uses it to attack his enemies with divine power. That's a paladin Spirit tracks: He's operating a train which is a bit too futuristic for most d&d campaigns and Zelda possessing. The phantoms is like a steel defender that's a battle smith artifier. Hyrule warriors. He's a knight armed a longsword. Just Trying to save the day that's a fighter
Weird he said for Survival and Animal Handling for the Ranger skills, since they're the Folk Hero ones. I would of picked Insight and Nature in their place, seeing as Link is quite a explorer or the wilderness and obtains Maps over time.
For general "link" builds i think shield master is a good feat to take. Altho, i say invest in dex since Longswords can be used with dex or str and dex also increases bow damage. Link doesn't always get the biggoron sword. It's a pretty rare weapon that's entirely optional in any game that has it. And i'd prefer fighter for link rather than ranger since link doesn't always have magic. Particularly in botw & totk the magic arrows are enchanted arrows, not spells that you get like in OOT & WW and just homebrew the hookshot type stuff as a sort of gun/grapple hook. Hookshot does do damage and can stun enemies in some games.
@@dndbuilds i would say since Link is an Elf the master sword could be whatever you want it really to be. If you go 1 level in paladin for a holy avenger it can be a shortsword at which you don't need strength at all giving the gauntlets of ogre power have meaning to the character instead of just in the beginning of the character creation. As for the boots that you are looking for. You could always make the boots customized for the game. You can use the spell immoveable object which is a spell from the gravity wizard domain. Instead of the effect applying to just the boots it can apply to the character wearing the boots. Activation can be a word or thought.
For armor, Chain Shirt's description matches Link's outfit perfectly. A chaimail shirt that's worn between layers of clothing, as in over a white shirt but under a green tunic. And, since it's between layers of clothing, the chain is muffled so it doesn't give you disadvantage on stealth. Also, unfortunately you can't choose all humanoids as your favored enemy, you would have to choose two specific humanoids to be your favored enemies. Also, some of the later spells you chose aren't on the ranger's spell list at all, so you'd have to either sacrifice an ability score improvement for a feature, or multiclass to get them
Alternative Build: *Twilight Link* Half-Elf Ranger (Beast Master Conclave) (Archery Fighting Style) Fighter (Champion) (Dueling Fighting Style) Druid (Circle of the Moon) Link is a Half-Elf really. Ranger allows us to excel in Archery. Beast Master Conclave gives us a Riding Horse (aka Epona). Fighter is to excel in Sword Fighting. Champion, because he is the Chosen One. Druid is for Werewolf (closest thing to his wolf form). Druid Spells, like Entangle, can also be nice. Best Build though: Half-Elf Race 8 Levels in Bard (College of Lore) (Take Find Steed and Destructive Wave.) 12 Levels in Cavalier Fighter (Superior Technique Fighting Style) Totally not a Link build. Find Steed for Epona, and Destructive Wave for Sword Beam. Cavalier for the horse back combat. Superior Technique Fighting Style allows you to excel in Archery and Sword Fighting. Now just get a green suit and smash pots…also play the Ocarina. (Favored Enemy could be Monstrosity. When using Find Steed, make Epona classify as a Fey.
I think the build is slightly off because of the Moonblade Legendary item. You can have one with finesse quality, so you max out dex instead of strength, then upgrade gauntlets with belt of giant strength. It makes your bow and arrow attacks better, too. Also those swords are made by elves and are hand me downs so they are always around
If you have the item early on, that would definitely be more optimized. But I wanted to make sure the build worked even if you couldn't get your hands on some magic items. But that's a totally solid option
I like the idea of starting off with like a “goddess sword” something that starts off weak and your whole side story is upgrading it like in skyward sword. But if you could get your DM to let you start off with like a home brew a weaker longsword to essentially be a rapier I could see that working
Just take the Tough feat instead of the extra boosts to Con. I'd also probably go for a Dex build since, as you say, Link's strength comes from magic items. With Dueling and a short sword you still have a nice damage output and if you take a level of Fighter you can get Defence as a second fighting style. Much better than the Ranger's capstone ability.
Yeah there's definitely a few things I would tweak about this build overall, but actually I would still stick with strength for the most part, just because I feel like the master sword is a long sword no matter what, and you can only really utilize strength for a longsword
Depends on the Link. Breath of the Wild Link is able to canonically stop charging Lynels and Twilight Princess Link is able to out wrestle Gorons with pure physical strength and no magical assistance.

I'd say it depends on the game. Ocarina of Time/Majora's Mask/Wind Waker Link would definitely be of a Valor Bard/Archfey Warlock multiclass, using music to make magic, and getting extra enhancements from Great Fairies (Archfey). @@dndbuilds I'm going with it right now, and it's a lot of fun! Especially if you can start with the Chef feat, really make sthe character come to life. I am going Fighter right now, level 3, gonna multiclass to bard soon as I actually am learning an ocarina, and I want to become good enough with it before I incorporate it into my character. Later on I may ask my DM if he will let me switch my fighter levels into paladin levels if the campaign goes that way, but I love this basic fighter type character that covers all bases, it's fun to roleplay for sure.
This actually sent me a bit down the rabbit hole, if you wanted to focus on melee but still be a fire caster, you could get pretty tricky with it. Especially if you focus entirely on the melee, but with some fun fire mixed in! Human Variant - Grab the feat Elemental Adept to ignore Fire Resistance Go with the Stats STR 8 DEX 14 (including racial) CON 14 INT 9 WIS 13 CHA 16 (including racial) Grab 1 level of hexblade warlock, to be able to use your charisma for all your melee attacks, and grab Green Flame Blade. Also giving you access to Hexblades curse, boosting damage Then grab 6 levels of Draconic Sorcerer bringing your CHA up to 18 along the way and allowing you to add your CHA to fire damage dealt Then grab 6 Levels of Wildfire Druid (big downside here is no more medium armor unless you find something without metal) bringing maxing out your CHA along the way, and allowing you to add 1d8 fire damage to fire rolls, and giving you access to Elemental Weapon, so you can always have a flaming sword Alternatively - You could Focus on Wisdom Go with 6 levels Wildfire Druid and 14 Levels of Forge Cleric, you'll still need to manage to grab magic initiate for Green Flame Blade, and you can use Shillelagh to use Wisdom for Melee but Forge Cleric gets additional fire based spells and at 14th level they can add 2d8 fire damage to every melee attack for a total of 3d8 with the Wildfire Druid plus the additional 3d8 fire damage you will do to the first target with Green Flame Blade, and 3d8 + spellcasting mod to a second target, Leading to the first target hit with melee, to take 1d8 Magical Bludgeoning + 5 Wisdom + 7d8 Fire from Cleric and Wildfire and Green Flame + 3 Elemental Weapon + 3d4 Fire Elemental Weapon Total for 1 melee attack being MAX 13 Magical Bludgeoning and 71 Fire Damage Which isn't terrible, but if you can sacrifice the extra 1d8 and take some fighter levels, you can get a couple levels of fighter for Action Surge, or go for some Sorcerer levels again, mix and match all you want I really went on a spree lol
You could also go with the Way of Ascendant Dragon Monk from Fizban's, then maybe multiclass into sorcerer and take the Dragon Origin. Take the level split you'd prefer.
I say that link should get more to use fighter since he can fight with a lot of different weapons and carrying bullet time, or artificer if you love to torture koroks
I realize that you probably won’t read or respond to this because it’s so long after the video was uploaded but here it goes. First, it’s OCARINA not orcarina. As with the build, I like that you kept him as a straight ranger the whole time but given how bad its capstone is for how you’re building him, I would have thought at least two levels of fighter to give him second wind (simulated extra life or continue from game over screen) and action surge as well as a 2nd fighting style. Plus at 3rd level (depending on how deep you take it, you do champion which can increase his crit chances. I realize you lose a couple ASIs with that, but honestly that last ASI should have been the Tough feat anyway. Overall though, I really liked the video and build. Great job.😊
Will jokes on you cuz I did read it and I am responding, lol I never even thought about my pronunciation of ocarina, but you're definitely right. And I did consider doing a fighter build, but it's so rare that people want to go with a straightforward ranger, so I kind of wanted to just go with it. I'm glad you like the video
@@BJGvideos really well actually. Our group is level 7 now. Ganondorf was cured from his „curse of Demise“ and link is now a victim of that curse. Ganondorf is now the head chef in gerudo town since they brought the current queen back to life and Ganny wasn’t interested in a leader position. Zelda also developed into an antagonist who ended up manipulating link and turned into the true bbeg while link has the same cr but is kind of just a pawn. We also have a running gag of a cuccoo that turned out to be a strange cuccoo wizard who follows the group and ended up turning into this badass saviour. I have a very open world „decisions affect the greater world“ kind of campaign which is why many plot points changed around a lot. Especially since one of the players is now a central figure in a Rito civil war plotline. Really developed out of their backstory.

I did do an Elden ring video, but most of the bosses were mostly treated as variations of existing creatures, outside of a few exceptions where I actually pointed out how they could be real character builds. But if you'd like something beyond that I'm sure I can figure something out
Martials can be fun. Spells are OP, yeah, but a fighter with the right equipment can be just as or even more useful. (Don't be limited by normal weapons, Martials can AND SHOULD have some wands, maybe even more than Spellcasters)
I have so much fun with Martial characters, some spells to enhance them a bit is nice, but really focusing on getting into the middle of the fighting is just so much fun.
“Human” is just what Hyrulians call themselves, like how other planets’ races probably call their planets some variant of “Earth”. This distinguishes from the other sentient races, like Zora and Gorons.
Hey, D&D builds: how would you the characters from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic? The closest race to ponies would be Centaurs, but hear me out, Elves for unicorns, Orc/Goliath for earth ponies, Air Genasi for pegasi, Variant Aasimar for Alicorns and Discord, Dragonborn for bipedal dragons, Mountain Dwarves for Diamond Dogs, Aarakocra for Griffins, Mimics? for Changelings. I got to disagree on a few of these choices first off hylians have been explained as being very similar to humans including life expectancy and their need for sleep. Next we as the player never hear link speak but it has been shown throughout the franchise that he is a very good conversationalist and is very strong-willed like in Majora's Mask where every time he puts on one of the transformation masks he has to overcome the sheer pain of Two Souls merging and every time he takes it off he has to feel the pain of his soul being torn in half.
I'd say this is really good. But, I think there are some holes. As someone before me, link should be a half-elf. But in addition, I feel like fighter (the one with magic) should be a better class. But this works too!

My friend is going to run a Breath if the Wild dnd campaign, so thanks.
Please do a punisher build!
I know lol, he's on the list, and I'm going to build him soon
Now you need to do Fierce Deity. That's gonna be a tough one.
How would you make a fire caster melee build? I was mostly thinking of sticking with Druid for the wildfire archetype and multiclassing into wizard
This actually sent me a bit down the rabbit hole, if you wanted to focus on melee but still be a fire caster, you could get pretty tricky with it. Especially if you focus entirely on the melee, but with some fun fire mixed in!
Human Variant - Grab the feat Elemental Adept to ignore Fire Resistance
Go with the Stats
STR 8
DEX 14 (including racial)
CON 14
INT 9
WIS 13
CHA 16 (including racial)
Grab 1 level of hexblade warlock, to be able to use your charisma for all your melee attacks, and grab Green Flame Blade. Also giving you access to Hexblades curse, boosting damage
Then grab 6 levels of Draconic Sorcerer bringing your CHA up to 18 along the way and allowing you to add your CHA to fire damage dealt
Then grab 6 Levels of Wildfire Druid (big downside here is no more medium armor unless you find something without metal) bringing maxing out your CHA along the way, and allowing you to add 1d8 fire damage to fire rolls, and giving you access to Elemental Weapon, so you can always have a flaming sword
Alternatively -
You could Focus on Wisdom
Go with 6 levels Wildfire Druid and 14 Levels of Forge Cleric, you'll still need to manage to grab magic initiate for Green Flame Blade, and you can use Shillelagh to use Wisdom for Melee but Forge Cleric gets additional fire based spells and at 14th level they can add 2d8 fire damage to every melee attack for a total of 3d8 with the Wildfire Druid plus the additional 3d8 fire damage you will do to the first target with Green Flame Blade, and 3d8 + spellcasting mod to a second target,
Leading to the first target hit with melee, to take 1d8 Magical Bludgeoning + 5 Wisdom + 7d8 Fire from Cleric and Wildfire and Green Flame + 3 Elemental Weapon + 3d4 Fire Elemental Weapon
Total for 1 melee attack being
MAX 13 Magical Bludgeoning and 71 Fire Damage
Which isn't terrible, but if you can sacrifice the extra 1d8 and take some fighter levels, you can get a couple levels of fighter for Action Surge, or go for some Sorcerer levels again, mix and match all you want
I really went on a spree lol
You could also go with the Way of Ascendant Dragon Monk from Fizban's, then maybe multiclass into sorcerer and take the Dragon Origin. Take the level split you'd prefer.
At spells I would choose gust of wind and feather fall for the glider.
I say that link should get more to use fighter since he can fight with a lot of different weapons and carrying bullet time, or artificer if you love to torture koroks
I think you did a Pokémon Trainer already, but how about a specific one of the creatures. DnD build for Lucario.
I definitely would have gone artificer in order to attend to all your nifty magic items.
Yeah, but outside of the more recent games most of his magic items are more "found" items
I’m gonna run a Homebrew Zelda DnD 5e campaign this year. Gonna use Link as the BBEG.
How did that go?
@@patrickzantomaster Oh neat! That sounds amazing
The only issue with using link in any other media is he is left handed most games are tailored to right handed so if being accurate you are kind of stuck with just off hand attacks if the game does allow you to put sword in left hand
Would love to see your interpretation of Mega Man
I was hoping someone would request that one at some point 😁
@@dndbuilds I have a couple ideas of my own, but I think you do a good job and would be interested in seeing how much we agree or disagree
@@WellManNerd well when that build video comes out, I'll make sure to look out for your comment and see how close we are on a build idea
the Classes, and rase I think the Links I've play would be
SS Link = Paladin Oath of the Ancient/Battlemaster Fighter Half Elf
OoT Link = Battlemaster Fighter/Valor Bard High Elf
WW Link = Valor Bard/Fighter Half Elf
ST Link = Fighter/Valor Bard Half Elf
MM Link = Valor or Spirit Bard/Berserker Barbarian High Elf
TP Link = Battlemaster or Cavalier Fighter/Moon Druid/Beast Master Ranger Wood Elf
FSA Link = Champion Fighter High Elf
ALttP Link = Champion Fighter/Wizard/ Monster Slayer Ranger High Elf or Half Elf
LoZ Link = Champion Fighter/Monster Slayer Ranger Half Elf
AoL Link = Champion Fighter/War Magic Wizard or Divine Soul Sorcerer Half Elf
AoC Link = Battlemaster Fighter/Paladin Oath of the Ancient High Elf
BotW Link = can be anything you want depends on how play BotW for how I play was more like a Swashbuckler Rogue/Monster Slayer/Artificer/Paladin Oath of the Ancient High Elf
A soul reaper from Bleach would be cool but there’s so many characters to choose from
I've been pondering on that one for a bit lately... It would be a little tough but I might try to pull that one off closer to when the new bleach movie is coming out
I feel like he would not dump charisma. Because he would multi class into a Paladin of Hylia
i have only seen 3 episodes and every single time they are goddamn rangers! Trevor Belmont, Goblin Slayer and even Link, come on!
@@thecreep7147 you must just be lucky, I feel like I don't make a lot of rangers lol
Could you do rayne from the game bloodrayne if you haven't done her yet
I would probably would give him a fighter level just to give him to do more damage or something like that
I hear some Taylor Davis in the background. ;)
Yes there is
2:16 WELL EXUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUSE ME, PRINCESS
There are ways to multiclass or not with ranger, fighter, valor bard
Yeah there's plenty of ways to multi-class, but to me link feels so much like a pure ranger for the most part
@@dndbuilds Yes, Ranger or Fighter are the most straighforward since he uses tools or divine weapons he finds, not spells on them, except "call" the horse
@@chrimedina yeah the only reason I leaned ranger over fighter was because we do see that magic meter available pretty regularly, and I wanted to lean more towards wisdom with a ranger because it is close correlation with the triforce of wisdom being Zelda, rather than going something intelligence-based like an Eldritch Knight.
Can u do a Paul atriedes from dune build
This Notification could’ve not came at a better time
Glad to hear it :D
@@dndbuilds I was Listening to Life lite won the notification appeared
Can we get some elden ring bosses as character builds?
I did do an Elden ring video, but most of the bosses were mostly treated as variations of existing creatures, outside of a few exceptions where I actually pointed out how they could be real character builds. But if you'd like something beyond that I'm sure I can figure something out
I think I would've gone with paladin or fighter
Came here from an Instagram ad. Algorithm-blessed
I actually didn't know any were running on Instagram but I'm still happy it brought you here 😁
@@dndbuilds Bro, so am I. Moon Knight, Joker - So, SO awesome. Gonna watch those next.

Can you make YU-GI-OH soon?
Ooohhhh... That would be an interesting one... Definitely a slight challenge but I can give it a shot
Make a Pain Build from Naruto
I'm going to say link is a........ Fighter
Edit: I can't believe I didn't think of Ranger
Link is a bard paladin change my mind
Martials can be fun.
Spells are OP, yeah, but a fighter with the right equipment can be just as or even more useful.
(Don't be limited by normal weapons, Martials can AND SHOULD have some wands, maybe even more than Spellcasters)
I have so much fun with Martial characters, some spells to enhance them a bit is nice, but really focusing on getting into the middle of the fighting is just so much fun.
Hello
Hey! 👋
Link is canonically a human.
The closest race to ponies would be Centaurs, but hear me out,
Elves for unicorns,
Orc/Goliath for earth ponies,
Air Genasi for pegasi,
Variant Aasimar for Alicorns and Discord,
Dragonborn for bipedal dragons,
Mountain Dwarves for Diamond Dogs,
Aarakocra for Griffins,
Mimics? for Changelings.
I clearly had put too much thought into this idea.
🥑
Avocado - 1 hp, randomly has either 16 AC or 8 AC depending on Ripeness. But it's impossible to tell whether or not it's ripe until an attack roll has been made on it.
I thought Link was a paladin.
Cordovan????????????????
I'd say this is really good.
But, I think there are some holes. As someone before me, link should be a half-elf. But in addition, I feel like fighter (the one with magic) should be a better class. But this works too!
Yeah I could totally see that, I just feel like the ranger doesn't get enough love, and I felt like he fit well enough to finally be able to use a ranger in one of my builds
