      Link had to have been using the elemental arrows along with bomb arrows just to take them out. The ancient arrows were not invented yet, so he had to use whatever was available. Skyward Sword did a really great job conveying Link's emotions in his facial expressions, from his angry determination when faced with Demise for the first time, to desperation and devastation when Zelda locked herself away, the gentle sadness when he said goodbye to Fi... and sheer panic when he saw Groose hurtling towards him 200 feet in the air during his descent into Faron Woods. It really made cut-scenes more memorable and emotionally meaningful.

Fast forward to October 2017 and I've beaten Skyward Sword with a 100%/No death run for the fifth time

    • @ilovethelegend
      @ilovethelegend 4 ปีที่แล้ว +91

      I actually have a personal story related to that scene.
      So, I'd lost my shield at some point in the first dungeon waaaaaaay back near the start of the game, and without it, I couldn't beat Ghirahim 1. I had to pull out of the dungeon, go back to Skyloft, buy a new one, then come back and dunk on him. Throughout the whole rest of the game, I always had a shield on me while fighting Ghirahim.
      Now, when the final scene came up, I had a sacred shield (Because the Lightning Dragon said "Come back later for the hylian shield" and in gamer speak that usually means "Come back after another plot beat", but the next plot beat was... well...) and in my hubris I decided to try and style on some of the Bokoblins and got my shield broken. I dove in on Ghirahim anyway, figuring it would respawn me with my shield if I died and I'd be more cautious that time, and when I swung at him and he blocked it I noticed that I'd cracked a chip in his sword. So I swung again. And again, and again, until I broke his sword in half and was able to get a few hits on him. I didn't even see some of his attacks because once I figured out I could just burst through his guard I just never gave him the space to breathe.
      Thinking about it, it's kind of incredible that Nintendo actually programmed that in as a way to beat final Ghirahim. Like, he went from this overwhelming foe who could easily disarm you and really gave off the impression that he could kill you in an instant if your antics didn't amuse him so much to an enemy who is literally unable to stand before your raw power.

In the Child Timeline, he isn't remembered at all... the only one who knows of him and what he has done is the Link of Twilight Princess , but only because He assisted Link and taught him Hidden Skills. Thinking on it, there is an incredible story of love and devotion told by the first and last Links and Zeldas. The first Link's love for his Zelda guided him to becoming the courageous First Hero, setting all this in motion. And at the end, Zelda's devotion to her own Link is what gives her the power to ultimately *destroy* Ganon, finally relieving the two of their destinies that had weighed over them.

    The Hero of Winds is easily my favourite Link, for many reasons including what was mentioned, but I need to add a bit more. The Hero of Winds was NOT the Hero. He had NO destiny. He was NOT chosen by the gods. He managed to draw the Master Sword and face down Ganondorf despite this, driven only by his desire to save Aryll. He wasn't given the Triforce of Courage. He dug up the pieces and assembled it himself _before_ the Goddesses would accept him. He _earned_ his title, and managed to impress the gods into letting him keep the power he also acquired on his own. If the Master Sword had been at full power, he very likely wouldn't have been able to draw her. By the time he had revitalized her, he had already proven his skill to the point that the gods let him keep it anyways.
    _That_ is the Hero of Winds to me: a brother who wouldn't even let _gods_ stand between him and his sister.

    • @truelionofhylia8437
      @truelionofhylia8437 4 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      He COULD remove it from the pedestal cuz he helped others out, AND proved himself with the test at the "Tower of the Gods". He was chosen at the end, even after he got the Golden Sisters ta see how much he accomplished by recoverin' all the pieces fer the Triforce of Courage. He chose ta start his quest cuz Ganondorf got his lil' sister Aryll kidnapped (stolen away). He was originally havin' the adventure ta get his sis back home. Then he continued cuz other folks needed his help. Skyward Sword Link an' Twilight Princess Link also started their journeys cuz they wanted ta get their loved ones back home (Twilight Princess Link was bein' tempted by the Fused Shadows' power with an easy way ta keep his loved ones from Ordon Village safe forever, an' then he snapped out cuz of his sense of right an' wrong bein' stronger). They continued their quests so more lives could be saved cuz it wasn't just about savin' their loved ones no more. Twilight Princess Link fought an' killed the Shadow Beasts (the Twili who came ta Hyrule as the monsters they was turned into) in self-defense so they wouldn't hurt nobody else, even while also killin' them ta save all of 'em from somethin' worse than physical death (ignorantly), like with the battle involvin' Jericho where Israel killed the kids there ta save 'em from somethin' worse than death (on the Creator's orders with the wars of capital punishment). He saw the Shadow Beasts as monsters threatenin' him AND his loved ones. He didn't know that he was killin' the Twili in self-defense (ta save THEM from things worse than death), the ones who was turned into Shadow Beasts by Zant, AND followed him ta Hyrule. He also fought an' killed Ganondorf by stabbin' the glowin' wound in the very center of his chest--in self-defense--with the Master Sword (the same sword Skyward Sword Link used centuries before) fer justice. Midna was basically unconscious. Skyward Sword Zelda was unconscious, too, cuz the Demise in the past (the same monster, but the version that was sealed in the past) stole a part of Hylia's power from her (by absorbin' it like a vacuum while she was screamin' with pain). So Link killin' the Demise in the past to prevent him from takin' over the world was the justice that saved her life (with his battles against the Imprisoned in their time bein' completely undone by his victory in the past). Ganondorf had the solar plexus (the part in the middle of the chest that's above the stomach, an' below the heart) that was his Achilles' heel. Looks like Demise's heart was where he got stabbed fer justice based on the indication in the cutscene with his fist over his heart. Midna woke up in her real form (the young girl who's a bit taller than Twilight Princess Link an' Zelda, the ones in her time). Twilight Princess Link was happy that she was OK. Skyward Sword Link was happily reunited with Skyward Sword Zelda when she was saved by him (Link saved her life by restorin' the power to her with Demise's death, AND with the Demon King's dark remains bein' absorbed by the Master Sword). Link, Zelda an' Groose went back to their time after Fi said goodbye (before goin' to sleep fer a long time like Tiki). All those Links started their journeys cuz those they loved got separated from all of 'em. Their original motivation was rescuin' their loved ones AND gettin' them back home. Then they saw that other folks needed their help.

    my favorite moment is pretty understated. When Link gets to the first temple in Skyward Sword, he hesitates before going down the stairs. His hesitation fades with every dungeon until he gets to the final one, and he bears a steely, determined look before crossing that threshold.

      He's got courage that COULD develop into valor (less scared, but not completely fearless). Courage also means overcomin' your fears, pushin' past 'em. Maybe the Ganondorfs have fearlessness cuz of bein' immune ta feelin' fear, with nothin' ta scare them, even while they was bein' failure intolerant (Calamity Ganon was scared of bein' defeated again, but not the Ganondorfs cuz they was enraged at bein' defeated). The future version of Ocarina of Time Ganondorf was pissed off cuz Zelda an' Link beat 'im together (with help from Fi, the Master Sword, Navi, AND the sages). The second Ganondorf--the man who turned into Ganon II--was pissed off cuz he was bein' in sealed in the Four Sword after he was beaten by Zelda AND the four Links (the same characters from Four Swords). An' that was before he broke out, took the Four Sword with him, gathered greedy followers, murdered them ta get the Triforce fer himself, turned the Golden Land into the Dark World with a selfish wish (ta rule the world), broke the Four Sword into 4 pieces (with the pieces bein' separate swords), put its fragments in four different pedestals in the Palace of the Four Sword (which was part of the Pyramid of Power), recruited more minions fer buildin' his army, an' started A Link to the Past with the Imprisoning War where he was sealed (least fer 400 years). All these events led to A Link to the Past, Link's Awakening, Ancient Stone Tablets, Oracle of Seasons, Oracle of Ages, A Link Between Worlds, Triforce Heroes, The Legend of Zelda, The Adventure of Link, the 10,000-year-old legend, an' Breath of the Wild. With Link the Hero of Twilight as Link the Hero of Time's son (and the heroic main character who succeeded in killin' the first Ganondorf), his legacy carried on. An' that includes the Links from Four Swords, Four Swords Adventures, A Link to the Past, Link's Awakening, Orcale of Seasons, Oracle of Ages, A Link Between Worlds, Triforce Heroes, The Legend of Zelda, The Adventure of Link, the 10,000-year-old legend, an' Breath of the Wild.

      The areas is pretty good and diverse, the dungeons and itens are creative, good puzzles and good bosses.

    My all-time favorite Link moment has to be in Skyward Sword when Impa is defending Zelda as they try to make their way into the Gate of Time at the Temple of Time. Ghirahim is hot on their tail and even breaks Impa's defense, leaving her just a hair away from defeat, until Link appears out of nowhere and lunges at Ghirahim. Every time, I always answer with "Am I late?" to Impa because dangit I will not forget that you just taunted me one dungeon ago that I was "too late!"
    In all honesty though, I just love how Link grows as a character in that game. He starts out as this kid who gets by by the skin of his teeth and then turns into this unfaultering hero on his quest to save his best friend.

    One of my favorite moments is from Skyward Sword - right after you finish the third dungeon and you get the cutscene of Impa, Zelda, and Ghirahim at the Gate of Time.
    Impa is fighting off Ghirahim, trying to give Zelda the time she needs to escape through the gate - in the process, she is overpowered and forced to lie helpless on the ground. As Ghirahim goes in to deliver the final blow. Link sneak attacks Ghirahim (who narrowly dodges).
    Impa looks shocked and then you get three options on what to say to her. And every time I always pick the same one, "Am I late?" Referencing her previous belittlement of you for failing to protect Zelda earlier in the game.
    I love this scene because it's not just cool, but shows some actual character for Link. A sarcastic remark to showcase Link's growth is just how I would want Link to be, and thus, I love that scene.

    • @Asiagirl644
      @Asiagirl644 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Warren Valion I don’t even get why Link was always belittled for being late! How the hell did Impa and Zelda managed to sweep through the dungeon without getting the dungeon item or defeating the boss? Did they swept through it with magic without touching anything? Well Link didnt had that option so obviously it took more time.

    I remember going through Fort Hateno and being amazed by the sight of all the broken guardians. After running from every single mobile guardian I've seen up to that point, while hiding from all the stationary ones, seeing all the broken guardians(and looting them) was one of my first "woah" moments in the game. I remember specifically noting to myself "This must be where the Hylian *army* fought the guardians"
    Fast forward one month to when I finally unlocked the last memory, and the plot twist unravels. It wasn't *an army* that killed all these guardians, but *a single hero.* And now the game is calling on me to repeat that same feat of combat by storming through Hyrule Castle to save the princess who once saved us.
    That was epic.

He presumably kept the transformation masks too, because the ending credits have him playing the guitar with the Indigo-Go's as Mikau. And then he left Termina, and next thing we know of him he's the Hero's Shade.
      What happened to his masks? His sucessor, the Hero of Twilight, didn't get them. Did he leave the masks behind on Mikau's and Darmani's respective graves with a note in the lines of "Hi, I'm Link, sorry to have fooled you, your hero died while trying to save you all, and I impersonated him to defeat evil. May he rest in peace"?
      And what did he do with the Fierce Deity mask? Why didn't any other Link have access to its power?
