    While I could have gone with a Warforged, I really wanted to throw in plenty of Tony Stark as well as the suit itself. So if you want to play as a Genius, Billionaire, Playboy, Philanthropist in D&D 5e I think this build should cover it.

  • @Profile__1
    @Profile__1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +81

    Tony having high constitution sorta makes sense when watching the MCU films. The dude is an untrained, totally human civilian yet he's taken some of the hardest hits in the franchise. His suit does protect him, but as we see throughout the movies, sometimes he does break or fracture his bones. The guy had his arm in a sling, probably dead tired, but he still suited up to go after Cap and Bucky. He also used the Infinity Stones to snap away Thanos's army despite not being a Titan or superhuman in any way, just his suit. He didn't even instantly vaporize either. For a human he's got incredible will and survivability.

    If you *REALLY* want repulsors, they need to push targets away when they hit (hence the name), so you really need a couple levels of warlock for Repelling Blast, weird and counterintuitive as that might seem. Also, remember that artificers are prepared spellcasters, so you can change what "your armor" can do as needed. Personally, I like Levitate until you can get the Fly spell and Winged Boots, Detect Magic and See Invisibility as part of the armor's sensor suite or HUD, and Otiluke's Resilient Sphere as an emergency force field ... since Artificer doesn't get Shield or Wall of Force ...

  • @Oblivianos

    finally a pure artificer armorer build with no bs multiclassing that just misses the point of the artificer (looking at forge cleric multiclass videos on youtube ignoring that bless and infuse dont work)

  • @harrisonlinden6552

    Currently about to start using this build in a campaign! If your Dm gives everyone a starting feat I’d recommend spell sniper to allow you to blow through cover. Additionally you can use the scales of your armor thematically as a very primitive version of the nano armor.

    This is great. My only suggestion -- instead of Magic Initiate at 19 (I don't think you needed Eldritch Blast, the repulsor was already covered with other things)...why not go with the Performance feat? Tony is frequently a performer (in a non-traditional sense). When he does the Jericho sales pitch for the Army in the first movie, when he does the press conference at the end of the first movie, when he does the big entrance at the start of the second movie, when he gives the speech to Loki in Avengers, when he speaks at MIT in Civil War, etc.
    Now...we need you to do a Winter Soldier and then we can see how the great Cap+Bucky vs Iron Man works out in DnD.

    I'm so glad I found your channel. I will soon be a DM for the first time and my players are all beginners, so I decided to support them with a DMPC. Not sure what class my character will be but since you have so many characters here to choose from I'm sure I'll find something helpful that doesn't steal the players thunder

    • @dndbuilds
      @dndbuilds  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm happy my channel could help so much! If you don't want a character that will steal anyones thunder avoid my Thor build (pun intended)... but really if you want a more low key builds of mine that's solid to help our some players but not over the top powerful there's a few I would recommend:
      - Captain America - built to be a fighter that really boosts up the party, helping everyone
      - Loki - will help most towards social situations, and illusionist, while staying out of most battles
      - Kratos - unkillable, straight forward to roleplay (just a grouchy barbarian that wants to kill gods)
      - Aizawa - basically a pure counterspell build, can really help the characters in a pinch when someone is going to cast something big, but otherwise not overpowered

    • @honeybunnyhanni1931
      @honeybunnyhanni1931 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dndbuilds thanks for that quick reply. I just finished watching the Captain America and Loki videos and they're both something I'll consider depending on what skills my party lacks.
      The only thing I'd change is to take 2 levels in rogue if I'm going with the Loki build. Since I'm the DM being the face of the party would be boring and having the ability to do sneak attacks really plays into Loki's backstabbing side (quite literally)

    • @dndbuilds
      @dndbuilds  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I don't like taking actual Warlock levels. I preferred DDB's choice of the magic initiate feat. Tony's not a warlock in any way. Making a deal with some otherworldly power doesn't make sense for this self made man.

    • @ericpeterson8732
      @ericpeterson8732 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      And besides the armorer infiltrator special weapon is a 1d8+Int lightning damage. That could be a decent substitute for repulsors. When converting non-D&D characters to DnD, there are always certain things that don't translate well. Spider-Man's web shooters for one. Captain America's shield for another.

  • @ericpeterson8732
    @ericpeterson8732 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    • @dndbuilds
      @dndbuilds  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    • @ericpeterson8732

      @dndbuilds technically, thunderwave is a good proximity for his repulsors. In the movies, they make a noise and then they throw items and people back. The problem with just eldritch blast is there is no push effect, no repulse. And going warlock for 2 levels just for that is weird IMO.

      Well I do have a couple videos coming out soon, that are to help new players, and some non-character-specific builds, but I will always have at least one character build per weak.
      But that is a super tough question actually... I would love to do some more Anime builds, DBZ or One Piece would be fun, but Toei animation has a habit of Copyright Striking people into oblivion. But I would be happy to dive into maybe Bleach, My Hero Academia or Full Metal Alchemist because I love all of those anime.
      With the new Predator related show coming out, I am tempted to consider doing that build, maybe even do a full Alien vs Predator video... but I'm worried that might lead into high tech stuff a little too much.
      On the Comic side I'm tempted to try out Ms.Marvel, Daredevil, or maybe Aquaman
      Then on the video game side, I've been tempted to grab a couple more Final Fantasy characters, or maybe dive right back into Nintendo...
