Reset Password Windows 10 Via Command Prompt CMD [Tutorial]

- If you forgot your windows 10 password then it is not that hard to reset, I will show you easiest method to reset windows 10 password.
You need to have a flash drive or Windows 10 DVD if you have the flash drive then download the iso file of Windows 10 and create a bootable flash drive.

I followed a couple of other YT videos but, it wasn't helpful for my case. Had to google to configure my bios and learn how to make USB bootable but the rest of the steps still works as it is without any changes. Somehow, my Microsoft account was changed to local account without giving me access to pin or security questions. And, it seemed it had password from local account 4-5 yrs ago. Thanks to creator like MDTechVideos who puts a lot of effort to help us. Still works in 2022! Keep it up, man! Lots of love and support!

I've been locked out of a laptop whereby my mom couldn't remember her Microsoft password and I couldn't factory reset the device for some odd reasons. When youre closing the Windows install screen, you might get stuck on the starting screen. Just press on the poweroff button and restart it.

After logging, should we again rename the utilman1 to utilman and to cmd1 to cmd?

I am unable to find a letter where you put the cd () at nog sure why but under letter c it says hidden but low files an the one with the file large size is got no letter so how do I recover from here I’m getting a no command mode again needing into my software without files lost

Help!!! I went other route (3 hard power offs while booting to get recovery mode) to get to CMD where to rename programs, NO UTILMAN.EXE FOUND TO RENAME!!!! Is there other program that can be renamed to be accessed from login?

does this only work if you reset your pc to factory settings? because my pc works fine without admin password, but i need to change boot settings and then it is asking me for admin password

on my friend's laptop, the gui for userpasswords1 was not available, i was only able to reset via cmd itself. (net user...)
OMG! This worked perfectly (Aug, 2022). You are amazing, thank you very much. I had a problem with finding which one is the correct letter/drive. Had to check other videos, and the "dir" command helped me to identify which drive has the windows folder.
The other's solution through Safe Mode is not relevant, because on the newer versions they still ask for a password to enter the Safe Mode, which we don't have! You are a lifesaver. But, how to I reset the Ease of Access back to normal? Is it okay to just leave it that way?

Thank you. It helped since I have the windows 10 bootable usb drive. I changed my win 10 password yesterday and could not login this morning even though I think I have the right password. I guess Micro$oft played a practical joke with me for the April Fool's day.

Thank you so much!! While I was not able to reset my password (Microsoft account), that last part I was able to set a standard user as admin and use that account to re-enable "normal start-up mode" on the msconfig. That allowed me to finally login to my Microsoft account!!!

I almost ended in deadlock
I already forgotten my old password (that i have no idea about)
Turned on pc using my favourite 4 digit pin And started working.... After 30 minutes i found laptop working slowly so started diagnosis and wizards said some changes failed to apply
Please try to change in safe mode....
By doing so.... I have restarted laptop in safe mode with surprise for me
Login wizards says enter password (i already forgotten) now there reset password or similar services also not working due to safe mode ...
Tried to restart multiple time but every time this evil waking up in safe mode only....

I was able to get access on cmd on login page...
( That didn't helps too in Microsoft account) and in advance option i added one more account with no password
By signing in that account, i got access to disable this nasty safe mode😂😂😂😂🤣🤣

What about when you using USB drive what select command should I use?????
Clear and precise! Worked perfectly on my Window 10 local account. Thank you! I wasn't real clear on the "net user administrator /active:yes" for linked Microsoft account. Is that the only change? Not sure when you would execute that command.

To revert changes, load windows10 and get back to command prompt. Follow previous steps to get back to where you were. This time you’ll del utilman.exe then we will rename utilman1.exe utiliman.exe
Next will del cmd.exe then we will rename cmd1.exe cmd.exe

If I when I tap my keyboard in command prompt , all that comes up is BN .. what does that mean ?
When I typed "cd system32" it tells me that "the system cannot find the path specified". Any help ?
What if the tech who installed and worked on business computers had all this setup and he's retired and not given much info on the admin info or password? We have anew tech and still; cannot get into the admin from work to take some things taken care of!

I just wanted say thank you for your time and dedication to make this tutorial,It help me to log in to my pc. The only thing that I had to work around a little bit, because it didn't gave me the option to reset the password, so I had to removed it, but when I restarted the pc , It asked me to enter a password,so what I did was to go to advance option and from there I was able to removed it, so that way, i was able to bypass the password.

I did the utilman hack and it worked for about 20 seconds and then suddenly stopped working… meaning the command prompt from start up screen was opened, then suddenly disappeared and wouldn’t return. Reversing and retrying the back did not work
It helped , its jus amazing how accurate it was. had to use other methods to get to CMD though.
