    When I was in the U. S. A. F. in the 70's, the F-4 Phantom was my favorite and always will be. Saw the Thunderbirds back then. Later, the Blue Angels in Grand Prairie, Tx. Loved every minute. Now favorite is FA-18 Hornet. Gotta-Love-It. Simply Amazing. Pilots of these birds are the luckiest people on the planet; and hardest working. Thanks to the pilots of these great birds, America is the best in the world.

    Wow. I just saw the F-18 vid and it moves so smooth and tight. Now I find the latest vid on the Super Hornet it's even MORE smooth, nimble and clean tighter turns. Agility & Power with no Thrust Vector. One Word: AWESOME.

    My son and
    I saw this display last year...I am amazed from the comments that this thing doesn't have thrust vectoring as I assumed from the incredible way it moves it must have...a truly amazing piece of engineering and knocks spots off the eurofighter given what i know now..

      @JahreemtheDream1 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** true

    • @clayestes4640
      @clayestes4640 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      David Smith Unfortunately in a combat scenario with a full payload, it is extremely less maneuverable.

    • @clayestes4640
      @clayestes4640 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** Yea, my point was that in a realistic scenario a F-18 is hardly ever this maneuverable. Mainly because of the payload, but like you said it could be jettisoned. But it would still have the pylons, which are actually angles outwards at like 13 degrees I believe, which makes the jet extremely less aerodynamic. And finally in these demonstrations the planes have a fraction of the fuel they would have and need in a combat environment.

    • @clayestes4640
      @clayestes4640 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ***** It really is. And that is even if we ever get into Air - Air combat again. Because really the only people that would be able to compete with us (enemy wise) would be China and Russia. And although it looks now like there is a lot of tension I highly doubt we will be having air campaigns like in WWII.

    • @CRAZYHORSE19682003
      @CRAZYHORSE19682003 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** That isn't fool proof. In Red Flag exercises there are plenty of cases where fighters can not get a radar lock on a F22 when they are within visual range.

    its to perform its high AoA maneuvers. The limiters on the Super Hornet doesn't have any restrictions, as far as a expert on Super Hornets. The AoA limiters doesn't have any restrictions, it's an unlimited AoA for the Super Hornet. Also yes it is a performer just like the Sukhoi aircraft, but without TVC's which is amazing.

    Out of all fighters, I must say, the F-18F Super Hornet is the most beautiful and sexiest looking of all. I like the Su-30 family very much, but there's something about this bird that looks menacing more so than the swan, elegant appearance of the Sukhois. The smaller size is also more appealing. I've loved the MiG-21 and IMO is the second most beautiful fighter ever built right after this one, followed by the Mirage delta series. MiG-29, F-16, F-15 all outstanding but this one here...

    this performance proves that tvn are not a necessary component for maneuverability. very impressive. In a dogfight a jet must b maneuverable enough to b able to use its machine gun, if it comes to that.

    Impressive display of the Super Hornet performing its high AOA maneuvers and how good it can preform in slow speed WVR dogfight. F-22 has better thrust to weight and has thrust vectoring over the E/F, but the E/F still wins in the visual arena (almost) every time because of the combination of JHMCS and AIM-9X. Last I heard the F-22 HMD was cancelled/delayed.

From what i saw of it, and other documentary's i've seen, it looks as though Sukhoi have finally got thier act together. Especially with the upgraded avionics and radar. Yes. you are probably right. It just seemed a little weird to me that the RAAF which uses the Hawk as it's fast jet trainer for those pilots going on to fly the super hornet has no such limitations put on it. Then again i guess the RAAF needs to know that a new pilot can handle extreme G forces before putting thier bums in the RAAF's front line fighter.

    its also due to aust not having the budget to repair and replace the airframes like the us does. with these super hornets for every hour in the air is 3 on the ground and the more Gs they pull the more maintenance they need and the less service flight hours they can fly. we should of purchased su27/30s or mig30 with thrust vectoring.
