I like trying something different, but I missed the wide open front view and all the telemetry to know what's going on and who you're talking about. Vote is for the other setup. :)
I took a full season break from GR86 and just recently came back this season and raced for the first time at Summit Point last night. I thought I was going crazy and also thinking "Wow, people are unnecessarily aggressive during this race". Thank you for confirming what I was feeling.
Iracing needs to figure out incident points for little bumps and scraps. You have some first lap hard door to door racing but end up with incident points and have to be cautious for the rest. Needs a revamp!
The whole SR system needs revamped. I get it's incredibly difficult to make a perfect system, but I shouldn't be penalized for having someone netcode with me then get a 4x with a separate individual.
@@sneekibreeki8162 Totally - even if they can start with the off tracks first. Getting super minor off tracks, or pushed wide and no advantage gained but still a 1x adds up, specially if you were caught in a tight T1, lap 1 bump and have one or two 4x's. If they can work on some warning system, or evaluation systems like other sim titles i think that'll make it a little less stressful and annoying because then you may only end the race with a 4x from contact and not more from little off track moments with no advantage gained.
@alexmattie glad to hear I'm not the only one who thinks off-traxks to be done away with. I thought it was a controversial opinion. Obviously keep the track cuts, but do away with off tracks. I love racing oulton park but the track limits on that track are abysmal. If your tires so much as sniff the scent of grass from 50 feet away, you get an off track. And it doesn't help that the track is either asphalt or grass. But there's spots on VIR where you can literally have 4 wheels in the grass and get no off track. You won't even get an incident point unless you hit a wall or tire barrier. So a little consistency would be great as well
I get that there will never be a perfect system for generating safety rating, but its always seemed crazy to me that putting a wheel a bit over a line four times is the same penalty as triggering a multi-car pileup.
Your intros have made me laugh so hard lately. “I hope you next poo hurts” and “he’s dead” are so simple but so funny. Thanks for the content lately DC.
Nice to see someone hold to the middle or left after the chute, great race. Iracing needs the add the Shenandoah circuit that you essentially looking at just after you exit the corner after the chute, it's a mini nordshielf
Had Thomas and Jack Doohan in the MX5 race at Winton...that too got a little bashy. Put it down to IRL racers blowing off steam...but clearly, its more than that.
GR86 Race and you say "Fingers crossed we are going to have a nice clean safe race" 🤣 That's some optimistic thinking there, GR86 is a crazy aggressive series, cost me my bloody A licence but I do love it, it provides such close racing.
I’ve been having a good week this week after getting my butt kicked at the glen, 3 poles out of 7 races with a win! You did well to stay in front of Henrique, if I remember correctly he was leading the series last time I checked
Hey Dave. Love your videos! Just out of curiosity what settings do you use for all your info from crew chief? I don’t get nearly as much detail! Like incident points etc. May be an interesting future video! Thanks for all the great content! Cheers.
Im sorry but its so funny watching incident points just pile up in some of your races. When you got the 2x out of no where. For ZERO reason. I could not stop laughing.
Ah - the Buttkicker - that damn thing is like unarmed combat! When I did that earlier in the week the first lap was that scrappy i was on 8x by the end of the first lap
Great racing Dave! I’ve recently started the series this season and it is fun! However, it is taking on a Cut Throat Cup (Carburetor and Pick Up Cup) character. Still looking for that needle in a hay stack victory in the G86! Thanks See ya on the track! #783
Lol, that's me that got DQ'd. I was running this series to practice for my races at Summit this weekend. I got so many points from getting tapped and a bunch when that car went off in T3 and I caught them. This series is a SR black hole
Great video. I like Quad View only for the purpose of showing new racing gear. Otherwise, there is no point in doing it, as it is all about watching the race. I can't wait to hear about your experience using SC pedals
One thing I dont understand watching your races is you are racing at a 4.5k irating level yet every race there appears to be people that shouldnt be there just like th #4 car you called out in this video.
the one gr86 official i did was the first and only time i ever got DQed. the car is so fun to bang doors in, i kinda wish iRacing would be more forgiving on some series.
Hiya Dave. You know that I love your editing skills, but this one.... Ok, to start off with, have you seen the film 'Twin Town'? If not, you need to. Especially when it comes to what I have to say next. It's the scene where Bryn Cartwright gives his reaction to the new rugby field. Don't take this the wrong way, but when the video split into 4: that was THEEE Bollox. Now go & watch the film 🤣😮. Keep up the stellar work.
Looking good Dave! If your headset is bt that could be why your audio cuts, if it runs out of bandwith. I had similar issue, and i ended up switching mine to a pair with dedicated bt receiver. Cheers
I don't know if it's just me, but since Corona too many chavs have subscribed to iRacing, so the insults and ruthlessness have increased a lot. You can also write a protest for this, which you should definitely do so that IRacing remains sportsmanlike.
Welcome to the aggression that is GR 86 series. A good way to lower s and I rating in one simple race. The car and track are terrific, just bad luck with the contestants.
Aha! The shifter has moved to the left hand side I see. I found the quad view to be an interesting change along with the lighting. I did the GR86 Watkins race last week and while some folk were a little aggressive it wasn't over the top which was good. Of course given my relatively low IR the split I was in meant the driving was shall we say not quite optimal. 😉
First of all great vid and entirely accurate RE: Summit Point and the GR86s. 😂 Many thanks for all of your sim racing content as well, it has been very informative and helpful! 🙏🏻 Apologies for the newb question but what is the device to the left of your wheel base that’s angled towards you? yeah, i lost ir and sr in this race, it took 3 runs and finally was gaining sr here.. i lost it down to 3.1 and ive gotten it back to 3.3 this is a rough series.

If you're a fan of losing rating and getting shoved of of the track, then this is the series for you. Going back to Mazda racing to get my SR back. You did a great job though.
Hey Dave. I was in the practice session with you yesterday when you were have comms issues with your mic. I tried telling you how it sounded but dont know if you heard. Im pretty new to iRacing but that split i got put into was even worse than yours. After getting battered in the mx5 initially i have built up my sr and ir to 3.5 and 1350. I had the same car collide with me 3 times and a second one resulting me and the first car being disqualified, its frustrating lost of 97 ir and 0.2 sr after being in 7th place. Still bugging me and im away working until Monday now lol Im really enjoying the clean races but the penalties recieved from others is a nightmare mate. I would have filed a protest but didnt have time to sort before i had to leave for work.
Audio issues like yours could be CPU related. I had issues like this in the past when the main thread was overloaded and the CPU can't keep up anymore. You could try to lower your frames to a state where they are rocksolid in every situation and check if the issue persist. When the issue is still there than it is most likely a driver issue. I don't think it is a broken amp because the issue is also in the video.
Why can’t people like Thomas ever seem to learn that driving like that does not win you the race, it just causes you to finish way down the field or not finish at all 🤷🏼♂️
I was in that first race which didn’t go so well for you. So I can back you up on how bad it was. Saw both yourself and last year’s V8 Supercars Championship winner, Brodie Kostecki get taken out of the race.
Dave as an owner of the SC APs for months now, it makes no sense to have a £2K pedal sitting there doing nothing, used for the occasional manual geared car to me. Your get a far better experience using it as an accelerator in my opinion.
On the fly flexibility in how you want pedals to feel and react. The ABS is nice to have in car with it but also all the settings to adjust travel, warnings when you reach brake % to help with preventing lock ups and threshold braking. Thomas was all over the place! So serious question though! was he just super aggressive on the wheel and that's why he was all over the place or was he on a controller? Because that erratic movement seemed VERY controller like to me as i've never seen that quick fast movement from a wheel user before Anyone agree?

The safety rating system in iRacing has been broken and nearly useless for so many years. They really need to revamp it, because this kinda shit is ridiculous. 2 week ago, I had 4.49. After 6 races, I'm down to 3.2, and I've mostly done nothing wrong, aside from getting a couple points here and there for going off track. It's like a never ending struggle that you have very little control over. The only way to guarantee you'll have a clean race is to start dead last and never overtake anyone.
@@jamiemb17because keeping a higher safety rating makes it that much less likely that you'll get demoted. Not only that, but a personal safety rating is meant to reflect how safe a driver you personally are. If your safety rating is damaged by the actions of someone else, then it is not an accurate number to reflect your safeness.
@@Kultivater yes it is, because everyone is subject to the same system. If you are getting into incidents that aren't your fault, then probably other people are as well, unless it turns out that you're doing something to put yourself in those situations. Also you shouldn't worry too much about being demoted unless you actually want to participate in A-class series.
@@jamiemb17 #1 I do participate in A class series. #2 That's a load of brainwashed, fanboy bullshit dude. The fact that the other guy also gets penalized does nothing at all to mitigate the fact that I took a hit to my rating through no fault of my own. If it's not my fault, and I get penalized, then it doesn't reflect my personal safeness. Period. Putting myself in situations? Oh, you mean driving on the track, instead of sitting it out in the pits? You're right. That's totally valid reason to blame me. Come on dude. You'd have to be completely devoid of the ability to reason to swallow that load of shit. Yes, there are situations where I have blame for a certain incident that I didn't actually cause. In those cases, we SHOULD both be getting penalized. However, if I'm taking a corner, and some random asswipe decides to literally PUSH his way through the inside, pushing me off the track and causing me to total my car, that is not, even in the slightest bit, my fault, yet I get penalized for it and, according to you, rightfully so. Complete and utter crock of fanboy bullshit that no sane, reasonable person would ever believe.
@@jamiemb17 You're confusing what I said with "fair." I never said it wasn't fair between everyone. I said it doesn't reflect my personal safeness if I'm penalized for someone else's stupidity. You honestly sound like one of those iRacing fanboys for whom iRacing could do no wrong. It takes very, very little reasoning skills to grasp this concept: If a personal safety rating is accurate, then it reflects only your own errors. If your rating takes a hit when you're nothing more than the innocent bystander affected by other people's mistakes, then that is not a personal safety rating. It's a safety rating for every person in the session. I do not appreciate being represented as the result of the stupidity of others. iRacing is literally the only sim that does it that way. All the other sims have figured out how to create a realistic and fair safety rating and penalty system. iRacing makes more money than all of them combined. I assure you, they have the resources at their disposal to develop a better system that doesn't penalize you for being a victim.
Let me know if you guys like the Quad view used in this video. :)
It's pretty cool

5k IR and a D license tells you everything about Thomas.

How can you Set Crew Chief to tell Irating / safety Rating of car in front?
What setting in crew chief make it call out peoples irating during the race?
Can you adjust the pedals for example moving the brake more to left for more space if you understand what I mean like by fanatec
Yes they are all independent pedals so can move left & right 👍
you think they are scrappy in this race, you should see them in the lower splits.
What is the purpose of the active pedals? I'm presuming there for a 'real life' feel?
On the fly flexibility in how you want pedals to feel and react. What’s the point of active pedal on clutch?
I run pedals stiff both gas and brake and also on brake I have a vibration warning when I am at 80% brake pressure.
Do you crew chief? I don’t get a driver irating when they’re near me
