Such a tribal race, the Minotaurs. I love to imagine them as Shamanic warriors and Druidic people.

Druidic Minotaurs are very cool. I had a buddy once make them all basically Romans which was also neat.

Finally. Someone who goes beyond the greek origins of the minotaur and their impact on pop culture.
Also, I think Minotaurs as a race is a lot more interesting than that of just a monster. As a race, you get to explore their habits, their culture, their struggles, how they function as a society. There's nothing wrong with the 'just monsters' approach if that's what you want, but it does feel a little generic.

I am tending to agree with this more and more lately. Honestly making this video made me want to flesh them out more and they are going to be playable in Enoss in the future

Wow! This is the most in-depth , encompassing video I've ever seen on Minotaurs I've ever seen. I didn't realize there was so much history involving some type of bull/human. Typically, only the Greeks are associated with them. I appreciate the history which led up to the fantasy use of Minotaurs. As someone who is awaiting the release of your Enoss game, I would like to be able to play as a Minotaur.

Thank you. I will add you to the tally of playable minotaurs.

You should make a video on giants next.

That's a good idea. I have done a few giant related things already so I should tackle them soon.

I havent seen minotaurs in fiction in ages. Maybe that Rebel Moon movie will have Space Minotaurs

Space Minotaurs would be hyper dope. Yeah IDK why no one uses them anymore.

Fantastic as always, Minotaurs are one of my favorite fantasy creatures, and I really dig the idea of them being cult creations. Since you're considering making them a playable race, id recommend a compromise between the two ideas so you can still keep them as monsters. The playable minotaurs could be descendants of escaped cultists or a by-product of when the cult falls apart. Maybe when away from the cult for long enough, some of the magic goes away or they have to be cared for in a certain way to keep their monstrous forms. That way the player version could be depowered a bit, but you can still keep most of the cool and interesting parts of the Minotaurs both as a creature and in lore.

When was it decided that minotaurs are intelligent ? In old myths they seem to be just animals with a humanoid body, but in modern fantasy they're basically anthro characters. Was there a shift at some point ?

    • @kid9893
      @kid9893  ปีที่แล้ว +1

In older myths the Minotaur had more than animal intelligence. Back then there was only one minotaur, and he navigated the mazes he was kept in and was partially human.

@@kid9893 Oh, I didn't think of that. I guess they were always intelligent but weren't given any dialogue in the old myths

Make them playable if you want, race and culture, make the actual ones you want as monsters more monstrous. They'll be bigger, more powerful, extra weird features.
Theres one in the (ff14) sunken city of Skalla with wings (doesnt fly), scorpion/dragon tail, red markings, and such. like the other classical mosnters being chimera which was goat lion and snake in an unholy combination.

That is a fantastic idea. Gets the best of both worlds and allows players more options. A Win-Win.

He doesnt seem to be a very distinct minotaur. He is very cool though but he is just a single foe not a new take on the Minotaur Mythos.
