    INSTALLATION & REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS:
    - STEP-1: Avoid static discharge by grounding yourself using a wrist grounding strap or by touching a bare metal surface like a connector on the back of the laptop and remove all the power including the battery and power adapter.

    I watched another video featuring how to change a keyboard on an e6440. Following the directions I broke the keyboard connection on the MB. The video did not show how to release the latch properly. Yours did clearly.
    Well, I have a replacement motherboard and will follow your directions - with a bit more confidence. Nice video.

      Dell does not use jumpers anymore. You have to locate the...
      I have to check my old note's files...
      Reply and I will look it up. But I have done it successfully on a earlier model...Wow! That was 2002 earlier...Still no reset jumper...Have to locate the correct I.C...and have a "---STEADY---" hand.
      I realize this reply is a year later, but if not you, maybe someone else.

    Can anyone say for what this bracket in laptop on 2:37? Is it critical that my laptop works without it?

      This bracket secures the display cable to the motherboard. It will work without the bracket, however, your cable will become more susceptible to a loose connection.
