Dell Latitude E6440 memory and Hard Disk upgrade, fan cleanup step-by-step tutorial. This laptop uses DDR3L memory, tested with BIOS A05 and A07 and will not boot up with DDR3 memory.
I bought a refurbished from Micro Center for around $200. I maxed the memory at 16GB and replaced the 320GB HHD with a 256GB SSD. It is so much faster than before. Additionally, I use a 128GB thumb drive as my storage drive for the laptop. I shared my 2TB storage drive on my PC but the connect kept dropping so I opted for this workaround. Before you toss out an older laptop/PC see if the memory and storage can be upgraded. Chances are the memory and SSD will be very inexpensive.

Can I replace the 4 GB that comes with it with 2 new DDR3L memory of 8 GB (one in each slot)? or should I just add a new DDR3L of 4GB to the other slot to have 8 GB total? I have this model of notebook and for this time I have 4 gb memory in two slots (2 gb each). Please could you advise can I replace it with 4gb memories if such exits? In total I would like to have 8gb or at least 6gb.
Upgraded to 2x8 sticks of Ram for 16 MB total and SSD upgrade seems faster than 8 MB E6446 as I have both laptops. 8 is enough but another stick for $35.00 US on ebay is cheap and that is max Ram this laptop will hold. Boots up in 15 seconds

I have this same Model. It's running Win 7 32 bit. The sysinfo says 8 GB installed 3.42 usable. Is there any way I can get it to where all 8GB are usable? Or for that matter, can I upgrade to the full 16GB with a 32 bit OS? This is my work computer so I'm gathering information before I ask if this can be fixed.

4th gen chipsets run at lower voltages, so you cannot use normal ddr3 memory.
