    Just to make myself clear as some people are commenting without actually having watched the entire video. I did not say that the SPF 50 I wear at night would still have the same SPF 50 in the morning. What I said is that I would still have some protection on my skin. SPF re application every 2 hours etc... is if you're staying OUT in the sun all day long. Most dermatologists will tell you this. If you're going to work, sat in an office, go for lunch, back to the office etc... your daily spf 30-50 is fine. Do you see people wiping off their makeup every 2 hours to reapply sunscreen? No. Providing you apply the right amount. Which BTW is another reason you see re-application every two hours. Because people don't apply enough. Remember this is what I DO. Its not what YOU must do. As someone that use's prescription strength products at night its often hard to find something that will sooth my skin. SPF does that nicely - with the added benefit that in the morning when I'm drinking my coffee I still have SOME spf protection on my skin. AND yes, I still wash my face in the morning! And then I reapply my SPF for the daytime .... phew!

    I met a woman on a plane, she worked for a dermatologis when she was younger. She was an older woman, that looked naturally extremely young! She told me she shaved her face and slept in sunscreen because she thought it was more moisturizing. That was her beauty routine! If I have blemishes I will put on sheer mineral sunscreen before I go to bed and the blemish will usually flatten out by morning! I believe it may be the zinc.

      @@Cecilia13241 Disagree. As a general rule, you should always have a clean face before applying any product. • @Cecilia13241
      @Cecilia13241 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@eponymousIme It's actually recommended to not cleanse the face in the morning, especially for people with dry skin, unless you used an active like tretinoin the night before, of course. Depends on the skin type. Just rinse face with a little water, apply moisturizer, sunscreen, and you're good to go. Sunscreen does not need to be absorbed into the skin to be effective. For chemical sunscreen, it is advised to wait around 15 minutes after applying for it to dry and form a film of UV filters. It's actually recommended to apply sunscreen as your last step in a routine. After moisturizer, before makeup (if you wear it). This is for both chemical and physical (mineral) sunscreens.

    • @eponymousIme
      @eponymousIme 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Cecilia13241 Thanks, Cecilia. Whether to wash or not wash depends on the person. If I don't, then I can sometimes actually feel my pores clogging up. That's probably true for people with oily skin; but people with dry skin, as you pointed out, don't need to cleanse their face in the morning, assuming it was washed before they went to bed the night before.
      My other comment was not that sunscreen needed to be absorbed into the skin; rather, that it *will* be absorbed into the skin (albeit in various amounts, depending on how thickly it was applied) and therefore, anything on the skin's will be absorbed along with whatever penetrating lotion, etc. is being applied to the face. The most relevant example of this is arnica gel: instructions always direct the user to have clean skin before applying, because the gel, as it is absorbed into the skin, will take whatever bacteria, etc. are on the surface of the skin at the time the gel is applied.

Especially for curly hair as it gives me time to pin up my hair and let it wet-set. The problem is not the efficacy of the SPF, the problem is that if you have oily skin or acne prone skin leaving sunscreen on all night is the worst thing you can do to your face. If you sleep next to a window get light blocking blinds\curtains and problem solved. I like Wayne's advice most of the time but he should have said that sleeping with sunscreen on may work for his kind of skin but not for other types of skin. As I said, it can spell disaster for acne (blackhead and whitehead) prone skin.

    I agree completely about mornings are for coffee not showering. It does not need to be re applied overnight as you are not in direct sunlight. Choose a sunscreen that protects against both UVA and UVB as they are a major cause of various skin cancers and lines, wrinkles and ageing. As long as it’s not making you break out go for it!
