I am just starting at 47, as a black male I never paid much attention to sunscreens until recently, so I use Neutrogena hydro boost 50, does not make me look like one of the dancers in Michael Jackson's thriller music video.... 😂

I applied it only when I used to go outside. Now that I've learned about my misconception, I'll apply it regularly. Thanks doctor ❤️. I'm a big fan of yours 😍. Love from Bangladesh 🇧🇩

I used to only apply sunscreen when I was out in the sun for hours, but in the last couple years I’ve started to take it more seriously, especially applying it to my face which gets red easily. I currently use Khiels’ Daily Hydrating Fluid SPF 50. It’s a little pricey but I love it because it absorbs well and doesn’t make me look shiny or leave white cast.

I am now in my early 30’s, I started to be conscious with UV rays when I was on my 20’s but my mistake was I relied with my make up sunscreen protection which just around spf15. I was around 27yrs old when I learned I was doing it wrong. It’s never too late to correct those mistakes, at this age there are few sun damage spots I see on my face, but still it was way less than those with people I see around me.
I use laroche posay tone up for 2 years now especially when going out, then I use Biore Gel sunscreen when I am at home!

I have dry skin and I use the Bondi Sans face one, I like this one because it's fragrance free and claims to be reef friendly whilst also being accessible in drug stores here in the UK. I used to use the Burnout Sensitive one and it was too costly due to shipping fees on top of the the price of the actual product. I'd say both were good but Bondi Sans is less than half the price and feels the same on my skin which is hydrating with a slight weight to it, not too light but not greasy feeling as much. I want to check out Korean brand sunscreens because I've heard many great things!

I’m 47 and started applying sunscreen in my 20s. It was after getting a really bad sunburn while on vacation in the Bahamas. Until then I thought Black people my complexion were immune to sunburn and didn’t need sunscreen. I still only applied sunscreen on the most sunny/hot days, and never on days that I didn’t leave the house. I also wasn’t applying enough most times. In my mid 30s I worked at a plastic surgery/derm practice that saw a lot of patients who were treated for melanoma. I then learned about proper application of sunscreen. I’ve been much more cognizant of sun protection after that but the options for sunscreen that are brown skin friendly were few 10+ years ago, so I can’t say I wore it every day unless I knew I’d be out in the direct sun. Thankfully sunscreen has come a long way and I can now find options that don’t leave my brown skin ashy and white so it’s part of my daily skin care routine all year.

sharing my sunscreen story because everyone seems to be doing it!!
i live in australia and have a naturally fair complexion, hence i learnt at a very young age to wear sunscreen to protect from the australian uv.
however it’s only recently i’ve made an effort to wear a high uv sunscreen every day, not only cause it protects me from the uv but because otherwise i’ll burn from the slightest bit of sun. but i have many friends who don’t wear sunscreen and take it seriously because they have tanned skin or skin that barely goes red/burns, and i keep telling them it doesn’t matter and that they should apply it anyways, but they don’t care.
it’s sad to say but at some point they’re going to learn the damages of the australian sun😔✊🏻

Very insightful video! I live in a humid country and travelling to get to the office would make me really sweaty. I would like to re-apply as often as I could but is it advisable to wash the face before re-applying? Sweat and dirt build up is definitely a no no. It is unavoidable but I also heard that washing the face too often is bad for the skin. In a normal day, it would take a lot of reapplication of sunscreen the entire day. Is there a way to be hygienic in reapplying sunscreen? Hope to get a response from you! Thank you!

I started using sunscreen age 22, but only in the summer when I was leaving the house. Then at age 23, I finally got a decent skincare routine and started using sunscreen daily.

I never wear sunscreen but started too when I know I’ll be exposed for lengthy durations. Recently I started using a moisturizer with some spf in it, this way I know I atleast have some protection. Which is progress

I've been using high sunscreen since I was 15, every day rain or shine all year long. I even mail ordered it from France when I couldn't get high ones in the US. The best now are Korean sunscreens. I'm almost 60 now and get pegged for mid 40's. I'm glad I committed to this habit.

I don't apply spf indoors because I draw all the curtains and do not sit even in naturally lit areas because of course, it's reflected UV.

I started getting serious about applying sunscreen was when I was in my mid 20s and now I’m loving the CosRX Aloe SPF suncreen. Dries quickly and doesn’t have a gray cast. My mistake is I apply too little suncreen. Suncreen really helps because when I saw my photos when I was a teenager, my skin was too dark, dry, and uneven skin tone before

A tube is usually 40ml to 50ml and you're supposed to use it everyday and renew every 2 hours... seems like one tube (which is not cheap either) will get you no further than a week if you are to use it correctly.

What do you think about sunscreen water mists that you can apply over your makeup? Is that a good thing if you first apply a base layer and reapply it using the spray?

La Roche Posay spf 50+ fluid my fav. I believe it's a lil bit higher than the average price of sunscreens. But other cheaper products do not work as well as La Roche. Other products tend to clog the pores and cause sweat real quick :( The only one that worked for me unfortunately

I wear sunscreen every time I go out now, but for many years in my teens and early 20s... I didn't wear sunscreen. I would tan and not burn so I thought I was fine. But I'm sure there was a lot of damage done. Then in my late 20s, I started wearing SPF 100 whenever I would spend long periods of time outside but if I was just running to the store, I wouldn't wear any.
It was until this year that I started wearing sunscreen anytime I knew I'd be outside for 20min+.
Glad that this knoweldge is more available and it looks like people are starting to wear sunscreen more regularly at a younger age. This is what I wish I would have done.

I startet using sunscreen at the age of 15. But one mistake I’m still doing, is only applying sunscreen in the morning when I leave my house. That’s what I’m currently working on :) I also startet using the Bioré watery essence sunscreen, because it’s not greasy at all and doesn't leave a white cast. It also helps with my acne.

and Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun Rice + Probiotics SPF50+ PA++++.
I use them when I go out shopping, with most times spent indoors. However, if I know I'm going to be outdoors a lot, I'll wear an available broad spectrum, waterproof SPF100+ (usually Neutrogena) and use a UV Umbrella.
