Can't believe mario odyssey was 2017. It's metaphorically astonishing how long ago it was but it feels more like it's only been 1 year.
The hell...it still feels like the switch is like a year or two old. I remember when it still had so few games I could memorise them all.

I wish Nintendo would focus less on shutting down fan projects that increase love and interest in their products, and instead go after the literal scalpers running bot programs to instantly buy and resell Switch consoles worldwide for over double the price.
The thing is that scaplers are making them money oof.
Nintendo taking down fan projects is by far my least favorite thing about them. I can handle joycon drift and shitty online, but I'll never understand why they're so anal about fan projects.

Seeing the contrast between the original Odyssey 64, when we knew next to nothing about the game besides the basic cap-turing concept, and this one that actually has faithfully recreated aesthetics and mechanics from Odyssey proper, is honestly really cool ^_^
The fact that Kaze made both of them only makes it better; dude’s a freakin’ Mario 64 _legend_ :D

@@UltimatePerfection They striked that fan-remake of AM2R before announcing the official one for the 3ds, Project M was striked before Smash 4 was announced, and those ROM sites were taken down before the nes games on switch.
If Nintendo's legal team takes this down, there'd be at least a small chance of Odyssey DLC happening

I have the opposite experience with the C buttons/stick. I personally much prefer the C stick of the Gamecube controller over the C buttons of the N64 controller, and I HATE the analog stick on the N64 controller anyway, so for my preferences at least it is a win-win.

It's because my introduction to the channel was the summer of last year, it was from watching all 7 parts of Baba is You, it wasn't until later when I learned that Joel and Vinny are different people. Honestly. Has any rom hack patch ever gotten taken down? I can't think of any examples besides stuff that gave people full access to the copyrighted game. Kaze's previous stuff hasn't gotten him into trouble ever since he stopped including ROMs, so yeah. Hopefully it stays that way

But it’s not my *favorite* 3D Mario.
nostalgia blindness keeps me from saying its my favorite (sunshine is my childhood) but it’s definitely one of the greatest games of all time
Nah, the barren level design and meaningless collectibles hurt Odyssey a lot. Seeing it remade in 64's engine makes it even more obvious.

12:43 literally the reason i sold my copy of Odyssey. I %100 the game and after that i did that one bowser stage to collect enough money for costumes but that got boring quick and seemed Nintendo thought “hey let’s just keep adding different outfits instead of actual gameplay like everyone wants”

Odyssey itself has a few design flaws which garners its hate. The levels more or less were not really designed with your movement in mind UNLIKE Sunshine. I'm not saying Sunshine is perfect... but it is a good reference point. Similarly a large portion of Odyssey itself was empty space. Generally speaking if this wasn't a Mario game it would probably done far worse. There is nothing wrong with liking the game... but it has BIG issues.
People complain and make note of these issues because if the issues were fixed it could cause the game to be better... and Odyssey has a lot of room for improvement.
Just compare Odyssey to Sunshine or Galaxy which gave you enhanced movement... some stages were brutal if you tried to not use those options in platforming... if not near impossible at times. Odyssey had potential... and I wish we could've seen that potential be realized.
Similar to how Breath of the Wild needed a few adjustments in a few locations. It could be what people loved... but better.

I like the mod's he makes but I lost respect for him. The reason why I lost respect for him is due to a video of his basically begging people for money because he is broke and Nintendo flagged his mod videos on youtube cutting his revenue for his channel when he knew nintendo didn't like that stuff so ultimately he's to blame on it. I can understand and respect someone for following their dreams but those dreams shouldn't be made out of the money from others pockets, that's just greedy.
