***** There is a Kaizo 64. Look up a speed run of the game, it's insane. And I could see why this would seem a bit challenging to someone who hasen't played allot of super mario 64. Me myself though I've beaten the original game over 20 times and have completed the game on 4 different platforms. So this doesn't seem very hard to me.

Vinny forgets that romhacks are usually made by people who love the game in question to death and have played it a million times, so any easier than this would just feel trivial to them.

You pick the strangest jumps to get out of a situation. Not helped when you already missed a red coin or two and you're still trying to collect them all.
+Keisok Yeah seriously, I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed this. It actually pisses me off in a lot of places because I just sit here wondering why Vinny did what he did. Forgetting to save state, jumping the wrong way/wrong place, etc. As much as I love Vinny, it gets really fucking annoying. I expect better considering he's played SM64 so many times in so many different iterations. I know the camera can be wonky, but every time he claimed the camera was a problem, it was his own fault. Sorry Vinny, I still love you... but this was just tedious to sit through.
It relates to christmas because Scrooge is for Ebeneezer (dunno if i spelled that right) Scrooge and it goes through the ghost of the past, present, and future like the hack does.

The best camera angle to use when playing Mario 64 on an emulator is the zoomed out Mario camera. Switch to it from the lakitu camera and then press C down.
I use that for everything in Mario 64. It bugs me that he keeps zooming in and then complains about the camera being bad. The camera isn't that horrible you just have to know how to use it correctly.
Only problem with that is setting up angle, since it moves a lot. For most movement, it's great though. Small spots still work better with standard camera on average (like that Donkey Kong part).

I'm pretty sure the Mario camera always defaults to zoom when you switch from Lakitu, and you have to zoom out from there. Still, it's pretty frustrating watching Vinny fail to realize this. Zoomed out Mario camera is generally the best option, especially, it seems, for mods where the Lakitu camera can be actively harmful to fun.
A common theme about editing games is a lot of the people who make good looking ones tend to want a more difficult version of the game since you mastered what you needed for the first.
At least from what I noticed.

I agree with vinny that the added difficulty can really ruin what would otherwise be a good game. Besides, trying to get exceedingly skilled at a single antiquated video game seems like a massive waste of one’s time and effort.
Seeing all the problems Vinny's having with depth perception reminds me of when I played this game. It's so hard to tell where things are in a 3D space.
This was one of the first (or possibly the first) times I saw vinny live. I remember being bored on crimbo eve, seeing vinny playing mario and going "I never watch this guy live so why not" and coming in about halfway through this. Got some serious nostalgia for this one

I played Scrooge 64 entirely on keyboard (using savestates like him) and Vinny was calling it "borderline Kaizo", love it.

You have to move away from the bridge for the blocks to respawn.
for Christmas past, it kinda makes sense for donkey kong when you get hit because in the actual game, you get hit, you die and go to the bottom. Thats what happened!

I don't think that specific camera angle is in the DS remake. I know you could zoom in, but you'd be locked in place while the camera was close to your character's head.
Also, that last level makes me realize how different the physics in 3D Mario games have changed. Mario is so much floatier in Galaxy even when he's still on Earth.

I had to pause the video at 38:44 for an issue irl, as I sat back down I said "you fuckin jack ass", I un paused the video and then had to pause again as I thought to myself "the world is just fucking magic like this sometimes."

The camera IS pretty shit in Super Mario 64, but to be completely fair, it's only so bad here because it's a hack. Most SM64 hacks are _notorious_ for being a slog to play due to SM64's camera engine being tailored almost exclusively with the original SM64 environments in mind. However, the best way to go with the original SM64 camera is C-Down Mario Cam mode (press R button to switch to that useless close-in "Mario" mode, then press C-Down) since it disobeys inputs far less often.
That being said, there was a neat hack of the base SM64 game which fixed the camera and made it more like Sunshine's camera (e.g. separate close-in button, moving the camera freely in lieu of preset increments, 100% input obedience regardless of the environment, etc) and frankly any future SM64 that doesn't implement that hack or any other camera fixes should be considered trash.
Everything will be easier if vinny did long jumps more often, but to this day, looks like he doesnt like it
