- U.S. Marines across 3d Marine Division compete in the 3d Marine Division Squad Competition at the Jungle Warfare Training Center on Camp Gonsalves, Okinawa, Japan, Jan. 3-7, 2022.
The week-long competition tests jungle survival skills, basic infantry tactics, and excellence in weapons handling. The competition participants are currently attached to 4th Marines as a part of the Unit Deployment Program. (U.S. Marine Corps video by Sgt. Josue Marquez)
There are times I hated being a Grunt when I was enlisted, being soaked for days on end on the field, soaked and cold and having to spoon your brothers for heat like we did in Iraq 2003 in Nasiryah, but out here in the civilian world, those things I hated are the things I miss. Knowing no matter what happens, those guys have your back and you got theirs.
You hated those things? I loved those. I had to dig a fighting hole and live in it for well over a month in Afghanistan. It was winter and the rain season started. I felt, we lived the epitome of what every Marine grunt wants to do, expeditionary. That was the 26th Meu. I never felt more alive. I miss most of the marines i served with.
What I hated? The cocksuckers, the lack of promotions, the command burning Marines and ruining their lives for no reason. My friend killed himself because of a shitty command. The shitty leadership promoting the wrong people. The unrealistic expectations of the marine corps not providing the proper gear to the infantry. That’s trauma. The Taliban were more forgiving than our own Marine leadership.

Yep, it was still called NTA during my time there in '90-91. Semper Fi.
It was NTA in 1982-1983 when I was there. I think when the Army closed Jungle Warfare School in Panama, the Marines had the forward thinking to build up NTA.

I’m just a welder by trait and i had the opportunity to do this with my Plt in Oki as a LCpl. Of all the training ive done this was the most fun one, very exhilarating. The jungle also felt like home, having grown up from the Philippines

You don't understand. It is not about what makes you special, its about if you are willing to sacrifice what makes you "special", "different" in order to serve the team. Good advertisements can convince you of anything. Marines are great, sure, but Rangers still have a tougher program to get through. It takes quite a bit more to get that tab.
Rangers need to qualify to get selected before even going to Ranger school. They also need to get through a more difficult training pipeline and be airborne-trained, which most Marines don't need. To be a Marine, you just need to complete Basic training, which while longer than Army Basic, in no way compares to Ranger School.
Recon Marines are more comparable to Army Rangers.
@@Xpistos510 i agree with everything you wrote besides the last sentence. no sof is comparable to another. they perform totally separate jobs. it's apples and oranges. they're technically on the same level, but they do totally different things. furthermore, you didn't even say raiders or force recon. "recon marines" still means conventional forces.
each job in the military does different things, but you can sort of group jobs by what they do, and at what level they do it. sof is tier 2, conventional is tier 3, and tier 1 is jsoc. recon marines are tier 3, while rangers are tier 2, and furthermore, sof marines would still be totally different from rangers. not comparable at all.

I am a senior in high school and I’m going to go to college and I want to do ROTC but I am wondering if I become a marine officer can I still fly jets or go infantry? Or is that only for enlisted because if it is I’ll just enlist
You have to be an officer to fly and you can be an infantry officer. They are few and tough so you better get tough out of college ROTC

USA army is the best but deep woods is not territory for american soldiers they depend to much of roads logistic and supplies.
In real deep woods air suport is tiny, you can't use heavy bulletprofe protection and combat is close and heavy.
New idea just thought of for equality in boot make everyone wear dog training shock collars that are programmed from darpa to work like for instance one platoon or housing unit works off one remote if everyone gets punished for the clowns then everyone gets the collar shock each drill sarge could have a remote specifically programmed to his future devil dogs,since man uses it on his best friend dog why not himself and woman wanting eqaulity.i was thinkong since i used one on my dog if i was going to learn self defense id have to wear one to keep from going psycho.
And intensity depends on how well the cadet grasshopper can listen,and if they cant take shock collar in basic then they should go home and find a cushy desk job.
