I just checked my 2015 prius, and the sensor is seeping, I figured it was just valve cover seepage. Looking more closely, no, it's the sensor! It's not too bad rn. I'll replace it, when I get a chance. Thanks!!!

Thank you so much for this! I changed my own oil a month ago, and today I noticed there was a pretty serious leak up front. Similar story to your customer. Jacked the car up and wiped up all the oil, making sure I got the oil pressure sensor especially clean (yes, there was a droplet there). Started the engine for 30 seconds, went back underneath the car to check the sensor, and sure enough the oil was coming from the oil pressure sensor. $25 for a new sensor, a 22mm deep well socket, and I'm good to go with no more leak.

When you got back from Europe you weren’t happy with the lighting at all. Now you’re a Happy Bunny with the lighting and you solved the question of the oil leak. You’ve had a Great Day too!

The Prius clearly missed you a bit. Very clean under.

We called it the oil sending unit. It monitors oil pressure. 🤔

In the 1960s/70s the oil sensor was connected to the gauge by a copper tube. If that tube broke or came loose from the gauge you had a very oily cab..... Many cars of that time only had an oil pressure light instead of a gauge

Great detective work, as usual, and thank you. Happy about the skylights but I suppose you still have to move after the first of the year?

Watching Just Rolled In, while doing an oil change the tech will say, "hey, you've got a loud knocking coming from your front left tire." Customer will declinw repairs cll, come back two weeks later and say, "You know ever since you did that oil change I have had a loud knocking coming from my left tire* and want the shopto fix it as if they did something wrong. Reminds me of this situation.

I really hope My wife's 2014 prius with 145k miles has the same issue. I just finished doing an oil change and notice the surrounding oil pan filthy. Although it is not leaking yet, I want to find out where is it coming from. Thanks for sharing!

What year is this Prius? I have almost the same engine (2ZR-FE 1.8 liter) in a 2016 Corolla with 193,000 miles. I ordered this sensor to change as a preventive maintenance item, but haven’t done the work yet. You are making me think I should install it sooner than later 😂

Look at the positive side of it. None of that streel under there will rust for years. In the Rust Belt you have to pay money for that oil spraying, unless you want to buy a new vehicle every 10 years.

Leak like that, if left unchecked, will create the need for new bushings, but I'll never rust! Self lubricating chassis
