- At historically black colleges and universities, drum majors are like rock stars.Jackson State University in Mississippi has several of these rocks stars on its marching band. Jackson State has one of the most prestigious HBCU (historically black college/university) marching bands in the country. It's called the "Sonic Boom of the South." The five drum majors that lead the band call themselves the "J Five," and they know how to put on a show. For more information please visit www.hlntv.com/v...
I’m so glad he explained this, because I commented how if a male or female cannot step high this takes away from the other drum majors who are giving it.
Someone who cannot high step is not going to be selected as a drum major. Period.

Maxwell rolle marching band is a sport. We work hard just as much as the fb team
Maxwell rolle yes indeed man.
Ok so you can give me tepes about the band ok
But can you really conduct the band musically?
Bingo..lol
Yes. I can. I'm a assistant instructor at USC.
boyd testa wtf kind of question is that? of course they do!
Yes.. the difference between corps style drum majors and show style is the fact that since the drum majors are the first thing the audience sees on the field/in a parade/in any performance, show style drum majors like to give a little energy, spice, and entertainment to the crowd before they conduct their band. I was a drum major. I conducted my band. And did this exact stuff in the video. Leadership>Dancing. Show style ≠ just flashy dancing
People don’t realize that part tho
