I’m hoping to get drum major my junior and senior years and this is definitely going to help. I’m a freshman this year and this definitely gave me some things to help me improve my conducting. I’ll come back to this video and let you know if I get it!
@@jeremypalacios6920 unfortunately due to our drumline not being the biggest i was told that i would have to play instead, but if the circumstances were different i would’ve totally gotten it! good luck to others and do not give up:)))!
Just finished my senior season as the drum major and must say that while conducting is important on the field while performing or rehearsing leadership qualities are exponentially more important, to all those who're here for tips or pointers I wish you the best of luck.
I know your comment was so long ago but I'm a freshy and I wanna be a drum major junior year I have 1 shape 2 shape 3 shape ques and cutoffs mastered but I need help with my 4/4 shape that up and in thing on the and of 2 trips me up every time is it just reps or is there a better strategy to get there on time
@@Orion_Hartmanidk any ideas to help with that, i’d suggest just repping it over and over, starting slow and gradually getting faster. If you can’t get the hang of it you could always try a different pattern. Best of luck!
Im a freshman wanting to become a drum major junior year this video really helped mrle learn the shape watch 4:40 in slo mo it makes it so much easier also those already drum majors tips on getting up and in for the and of 2 i kind of subdivide in my head 1down +bounce 2down +up and in 3down + up and out 4down +exaggerated up 1 down again. I struggle gettimg up for the and of 2 can anyone give tips? Sorry if this is unclear
i'm a freshman whose been doing marching band for 2 seasons, I really want to become my band's drum major when I get to senior or junior year, but that means becoming better than a kid who everyone thinks will become drum major cause he's a boy
For most marching bands do you have to be in high school to be a drum major? Because i'm going into 8th and i want to do auiditions because I've been in my band for 3 years now.

Counting off will be done in 4/4 99% of the time

Hey. I'm an freshman an di want vh to be a drum major at my sophomore year and can you teach how to do the 6/8 conduction.
down in in out out up (like 4/4 but 2 ins and 2 outs) - or you could just do 2/4 or 3/4 depending on the emphasis
