  • Starting a new city is hard, designing a good road layout is even harder. Let's see how things turn out with a brand new city across the river.

To be fair, the critiques about the proximity of the subway stations are completely correct. In civil engineering classes on public transportation planning we classify different modes of transportation by more than just it's physical characteristics, and the distance between stops is one of this metrics.
Metro stops/stations should be around 700 to 2000 meters apart (something along 0,44 to 1,23 miles)
A philly block has around 500 feet by my research, so the ideal distance would be at least 4 1/2 blocks for each station. The places where they are closer are usually for very dense commercial and/or office areas, which generates a whole lot of traffic. For manly residential areas it makes absolutely no sense to build them closer than around 8 blocks apart (a person can easily go through four blocks to get to the closer station. That is the calculation we do to estimate the area of effect of a stop/station.

Instead of the road just Dead ending in your new suburbs you should build some cul-de-sacs

I was doing that with little roundabouts, I definitely should do that in the new city. Feels like a finishing touch

You literally made the first two colour lines of my city! Bangalore has a small, albeit growing metro network where we have two operational lines so far - Purple and Green!
Well, that lasted for a hot second 😅

I would really like to see a diverging diamond interchange in this city

Protip: make sure you select "delete cims" other wise you have hoards of cims moving out blocking streets and clogging trains

always look forward to these videos. The new small train station-the rail has a "stair effect" right where it becomes a bridge. And yes, you need to go to options in game and make sure you have things selected in the No Homeless mods for the commercial issues. Another thing that helps, and you may have already done this-provide a bus connection to an outside town. it helps with homelessness too somehow?

Thanks for the tip, I don’t think I set up an external bus but will do that in the next episode

Lethe's Jr. across the bay is so cool! I'd love it to be the tech school area that trains the population for the main downtown. Like UC Davis that's surrounded by farms. Beautiful job as always!

Right!! I could imagine getting done work/school at the tech school and then training over the river for a night out in Summitt Hill. Ugh love this stupid game

I like using a 6 lane road for arterial roads. Where i live, all the main arterials are 6 lane or even 8 lane in many places, especially intersections where you may have 2 left turn lanes, 3 lanes going straight, and 1 right turn lane. Regular 4 lane roads are smaller arterials but not the main throughputs.

Just letting you know on the lines you can finish the line and just move the line where you want the train to go along with buses etc...

The "Traffic" mod would make fixing traffic jams a lot easier, it makes it easy to determine which lane turns where
