- The Calamity Bountiful Harvest Update is finally here! It adds a lot of reworks of sprites and bosses! It also adds new weapons! Here is the long awaited reworked and resprited Desert Scourge boss fight!

Did they change the fight, too? Im returning to calamity after a couple months and revengeance scourge is kicking my ass
Also, how are you taking so little damage? I practically die in 3 hits
I was using potion buffs and platinum armor, along with some accessories for mobility.
Try using ironskin, swiftness, and regeneration potions, if you're struggling. Hermes boots, cloud in a bottle and lucky horseshoe will help you with mobility, also a hook so you can grab onto platforms.

@@Xevoz yeah its really tripping me up because, before the update I had beaten it, and was gearing up for Crabulon. I went back to it to grind cash and suddenly I'm getting my ass whooped. I think potion buffs fixes it but damn.
@@Xevoz You should not have to use every potion buff in existance and specific, tier skipping weapons for an early game boss. All the freedom of the early game is removed by this fight. Desert Scourge is no longer a fight, it's a puzzle with one specific solution out of thousands of possible loadouts.
I genuinely hate this, I want this entire update undone

It might be enraged cuz your arena is above the desert and it was enrages outside the desert

If you leave the desert biome (underground or aboveground) during the fight, it enrages
It can of course be fought underground, but it's easier to build the arena aboveground, gdl

Revengance desert scourge is a pain in the fucking ass, undodgeable desert nuisances and I just can't anymore
I'm having the same exact issue, dodging the scourge is fine. But dodging the scourge + 2x desert nuisances that do 100 contact damage? Fuck that.

You can go to the underworld and farm for the old lords claymore
Well I just finished fighting the desert scourge, that fight is undodgeble especially desert nuisance unless... You fight EoC first just to get Shield for Dash like i did, death mode with Rogue only

I always liked the human appearance more than the eye appearance in the past, now the human appearance got even better.

@@yehmen96 at the time that you fight him u have no mobility to dodge his tracking moves and not enough hp for his 100 body dmg he does so he is a little infuriating
@@clementine2718 all you need is a small arena and you dont even need the shield of cthulhu you can beat him with just some hermes boots and a grappling hook
@@clementine2718 and if youre really struggling just fight the eye before him and then the fight is free

I will say after replaying Calamity up to this point in death mode, the desert scourge is no longer pre-eye of cthulu, his patterns are extremely sporadic and hes quicker. At least for some builds, i fought him using ranger which honestly might just be on me because ranger class has become rather weak as of late.
Desert scourge is still pre EoC, he just not first boss now
@@kuronya3582 Technically it's pre EoC what im talking about is difficulty, in terms of difficulty in my experience, the EoC is easier than the scourge
Yea and that's true, you can still fight desert scourge before EoC but It will be more more difficult cause you don't have Dash Accessories

this boss is fucking imposible on death mode
I do believe that's almost entirely due to how sometimes the boss just decides to redirect themselves right after they just passed you, leading to a near unavoidable hit that will usually deal around 80 damage. I definitely despise that.
Honestly, I significantly prefer the Infernum version since that one feels relatively very fair.
@@venomousslime6797 you would not believe how much times i dodged him and then he instantly turned around and hit me. the boss sometimes does not give a shit and will turn around and hit you or swerve at nearly impossible to dodge angles even if you already dodged him
@@b8conbear330 Yup, exactly. It's turn speed has been nerfed since I had issues with it, so I'm not sure if the issue's still around, though.

i didn't realise that there was a new update yesterday. i proceeded to fight crabulon only to find out that they removed acceleration rounds
You like to see it when I just fought Desert Scourage 2 days ago and the the update dropped.
To be fair, I don't know this update is coming, so its my fault.

MUCH better fight than before. It's significantly better structured, has some charm with its new animations and design, and I like that it makes the mini worms a bigger part of its fight. The only complaint I could really make is that it looks a bit repetitive, given it only has about 2 attacks. Still a much better fight overall!
He is pre boss so ofc he has very limited moveset
@@kuronya3582 This is also *Calamity*, which prides itself on being over-the-top and having hard fights on the higher difficulties. It would not be hard to add in something to spice up the fight.
@@jimboanimations4041 desert scourge it's not that boss wha need more "spice", also before draedon update(and in some ways now) calamity dificulty was absolute dogshit, it was hard but like elden ring where boss kills you in ten seconds because overstat
